How do you feel about The Simpsons floating timeline
I mean, the show started in 1989 and was constantly referencing shit from the 90s despite nobody aging. So obviously the show was always updated to whatever year it was airing in from the beginning.

>>155040075It kinda bothers me more than the Marvel one. Marvel's characters I feel have aspects that will always be rooted to the 60's or 70's or 80's or 90's. But they can flex a little bit if you change certain things while maintaining the spirit. But The Simpsons and the world it lambasted is gone and the things it tries to connect to now will never fit what it is. Homer is a dumbass who can now understand the more obtuse and fragmented culture that zoomers and millennials have? Get real. Not saying one culture or context is better. It's just incongruous with each other and the type of comedy and sensibilities the characters had.

>>155040075I think it's ultimately for the best, but I would like to see them maybe do a non-canon special episode that pretends the timeline doesn't float and assumes the characters aged in real time. So in 2026 Maggie would be around 38 years old, Homer and Marge would be in their 70s, Bart would be 47, and Lisa would be 45. I think it'd be a fun alternative to the usual "future" episodes where Skinner's a cyborg or whatever. Plus Maggie is a blank slate so you could do a flashback to when she was 6 or 7 in the classic era or a teen in 2000s and have essentially a new character to write for this one episode.

>>155042483That's took old a call back now for their age. The Avengers film will soon be 15 years ago, for the timeline. Homer dated Marge when he was 18~19 and they married three years later with the oldest kid being 10 that means the time table has to be anything from about 12 years or sooner. So it actually be the second avengers film which was in 2015 and that fits in the timeline as this was 11 years ago.
