>Be me
>Indie animator
>Have to write, design, animate, voice act, and edit every episode myself
>The entire process and results are miserable
Fuck this indie shit, I'd kill for some studio or network to bankroll my project and to have an actual writing and animation crew. Why are we pretending that going indie is better?

You have 100% freedom to do whatever you want. The more people you bring on, especially investors, that percentage of freedom will always tick down. Choose the wrong people and it'll go down dramatically.
I'd hire fellow animators and split everything almost evenly but that's just me. Or just pay them out of pocket if that's what they want and then that's what they get, no need for a share.
>>
>>155040385
Not OP but artists having full control never ends well
They have to be tardy wrangled or they'll self destruct
>>
>>155040405
That'd only for some
Others can manage fine
>>
>>155040347
>Why are we pretending that going indie is better?
Because the industry right now is just THAT fucked
>>
>>155040347
Most indie creators would take a network deal in a heartbeat
Zeurel stated that if Netflix offers an exclusivity deal, he'd accept it.
Muh indie sounds great on paper but when the financial and creative reality set in, the studio always wins out. Making a show the indie way is incredibly unrewarding. Trust me
>Spent 4 years making an indie "pilot" just to be tens of thousands in debt. Currently pitching it to studios
>>
>>155040347
Just sell your soul to glitch productions bro
>>
>>155040347
The current indie scene mainly consists of coping professionals who can't get industry work anymore. They're hoping that if their pilots are flashy enough, they can score big like Vivziepop or Olan Rogers
>>
>>155040347
I was about to cite Speedo as a one man show but since episode 2, he has an actual team animating PPF with him
I don't think solo works exist anymore aside from Sublo

What are you talking about most indie stuff is made with studios like Flying Bark or Meala, can we really consider it indie?
>>
>>155040347
When are you going to stop making posts feeling sorry for yourself?
>Wahhhh, I'm bad at what I do
Then get better or drown
>>155040450
Why the fuck would you choose to get into debt over this?
>>
>>155040771
Because shows are made with teams
Could you fucking imagine if Matt Groening was making Simpsons alone in a shitty apartment
The auteur meme is just that, a meme
>>
>>155040771
He'll stop when you stop replying to them, retard
>>
>>155040464
Olan mentioned! I still haven't bought the final space book yet
>>
>>155040771
90 percent of indie shows are made with full studios and teams and it doesn't come cheap. OP is trying to raw dog this as a one man team and it's just not going to work.
These indie shows cost tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to make. I feel like anons don't realize the actual cost of animation production. They just think it comes free for some reason
>>
>>155040347
Then kill

>>155040855
>They just think it comes free for some reason
Years of conditioning of being taught to belittle cartoons as a joke
>>

Above all, I want this whining tard to post his work
>My work sucks, blah blah
If you're going to shit up the catalogue, can we at least see what you're bitching about?
>>155040855
People need to start downsizing. Making 30 minute, high quality 60 fps animated episodes is deranged if you aren't Glitch.
>But I need to go that far to be successful
No the fuck you don't, how many people are in debt with 0 success by doing this? Your idea and art style is what will carry you to fame. I laugh at the indie types pissing 100k on their 30 min pilots with mid stories meanwhile there was a 4 minute animated music video pilot a teenager made in 5 months that BTFO the view counts of all these indie pilots to hell and back. Fucking Skibidi Toilet is more successful on a cheap budget
>>
>>155040966
You keep giving the threads (you)s. Also most of the time there's always more than one schizo. I'm convinced Guy is like 4 different people at this point. Hell, I larp as some known schizos on /his/ out of boredom
Also
>Skibidi Toilet
Dead meme
>>
>>155040991
>Guy is 4 different people
Red pill me
>>
>>155040966
Maybe if you want to make some shitty little newgrounds video
Some of us are too busy making real shows
I spent 120k on mine over the course of 5 years. Hoping to meet with some execs soon
It's a doggy dog world out there, only the best and brightest survive. If that means going into a little debt then so be it. Eddsworld style shit doesn't turn heads anymore. Had Edd Gould started now, his videos would get 400 views max and he either would have quit or roped
>>
>>155040966
Tell me you aren't an animator without telling me you aren't an animator
Being an animator/filmmaker means that you have a vision. A vision that NEEDS to be shown. And most of the time you need a budget and a team to bring that vision to life. You types are the same who say "just make a comic". You don't understand the mind of an animator
>>
>>155041066
>120k
>In this economy
Is this a flex? Buy a fucking house, the fuck.
>>155041094
I know it doesn't seem like it because of how much I'm shitting on this thread, but I AM animating my own thing by myself and have been for nearly a year. I just don't have patience for self pitying shit like this. You will not catch me blowing six figures on this endeavor. Landing myself in debt in this economy? Lmao no.
>>
>>155041139
Then leave the thread
You don't have to be here, ya know
>>
>>155040347
I would love making something this well known and popular. it would be there forever, people noticing my work and remembering it... drawing fanart..

It's the reality of filmmaking
A director is not an island. If you want to make anything of value, you have to have a team. Hazbin's pilot had like 30 animators and 3 writers. Shit that actually feels professional needs multiple people.
I mean, you can go ahead and make amateur looking shorts if you want but it will always be inferior to real animated shows.
It's the hierarchy of power.
My animation will be worth more than yours as I have a bigger budget, professional writers and animators, and a bigger audience than you
Like I said, I'm meeting with execs to make this into a real show. I'll be writing with a team of Harvard grads
I'll be employing the best boarders and animators in the business
I'll be winning emmys and schmoozing it up with people in high places
Meanwhile, you'll always be a mediocre normalfag, making his shitty newgrounds "cartoons" on the side. No real artistic merit.

>>155041215
I fucking KNEEL
>>
>>155041215
Interesting definition of value
>>
>>155041194
And then the fanbase takes shape
>>
>>155041267
Gooseworx can whine about the "toxic fans" all day long but I'd give anything to be in that position
>>
>>155040347
You choose this path. Animation is a lot of work for low results, which is why it's largely undertaken as a group effort. Consider; switching to comics, making a pitch bible and shopping it around, or switching to an efficient workflow(I've seen some 3d animators who put out short animations at a pretty decent pace).
>>
>>155041215
>He thinks I don't have thousands anticipating my work
>He thinks my shit looks like doodles
>He thinks I haven't successfully networked with people more known than me
We could both preen about who is going to be the next Glitch or whatever the fuck but lmao go off
>>
>>155040405
Depends on the artist.
>>
People are still falling for the indie meme?
Is the industry that bad right now?
>>
>>155040855
>it's just not going to work
Technically it can, you just gotta pirate some software ;)
>>
>>155040347
>being an Indie animator
It's the equivalent of taking poison for years that slowly shuts down your body.
