Previously, the Future Foundation brought in Laura to try and figure out what happened. Reed grabbed a machine housed in the physics department of the university where Laura went tracing the possible cause to it. Another quake led to Valeria finding multiple energy readings and somehow Spider-Man figured out this was related to the Enigma Force that had at various points transformed him, Sue and Laura into Captain Universe. The trio are then taken to a hellish realm where demonic monsters seemingly kill them but it was all an experience created by the Enigma Force so they could battle the King of the Whirldemons, freed from that realm by the machine. The Whirldemon attacked back in the main dimension having taken over Valeria. X-23 offered herself up as its host instead and escaped into the Whirldemon's home dimension where she used the Enigma Force to once more trap it and escape. Cecilia Reyes and Gambit showed up, having been looking for Laura, and her and Gambit went back to the university. In the end, however, Laura couldn't ruin Alex Cimini's life by telling him she was the one who'd killed his parents and Gambit said he was proud of her.Today is X-23 #17-21.Previous >>155034467
Yep, this is the arc where Liu goes out of her way to write characters OOC to torpedo a ship that she personally doesn't like.
Again, it is very blatant what Liu's preferred ship is.
>>155048851Should have included the page.
You know, I remember being impressed by Takeda's art back in the day but looking at it now the colors are doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Take them away and it's not all that great IMO.
Issue 18
Issue 19
Issue 20
Those cover credits are clearly incorrect.
Issue 21
Liu decides she wants to end the series on some kind of attempt at an artsy fartsy thing so we get a 'Nuff Said issue of Laura having a magical Indian vision quest. I'll be honest, everything after the Jubilee/Paris story feels like Liu didn't really care and was phoning it in. The premise of this last arc is supposed to be setting up Laura going to Avengers Academy but it clearly does nothing of the sort.
>>155048775Typical women
>>155048851Kinda awkward ship when shes a teenaged prostitute and gambit is like 30+
>>155050707The entire series is.>Laura, what the hell is going on!?>I was a weapon and a prostitute. :I>Oh Laura, sorry. You've overcome so much and are amazing.>:I
That finishes off X-23. Laura will next show up forced awkwardly into post-Fear Itself Avengers Academy the way she was awkwardly forced into so many other books during this era in a way not dissimilar from how Kamala is awkwardly forced into books nowadays. As I've said before I am not a fan of the character at all and I've never had a book I've read enhanced by her presence. Quite the opposite, she tends to drag books down for me.And speaking of next time will be starting the last of the ongoings in this series with Avengers Academy #1-4.

In the wake of Civil War, the Initiative was created to train heroes and create teams for every state. Unfortunately these good intentions had problems as its creator was a Skrull impersonating Hank Pym who used it as part of a Skrull invasion. After that it was taken over by Norman Osborn and the Hood who staffed the whole thing with supervillains. There was also the cover up of shady things like the Thor clone Ragnarok and the death of MVP. The Initiative's deep rot led to it being shut down but in its wake, some Avengers decided to open up a school to train future heroes. Specifically those Osborn had forcibly recruited during the Dark Reign.Today is Avengers Academy #1-4.

>>155062195You know where I can find a link to the og storytime thread?
>>155065754No idea if such a thread even exists since it's a comic from like 2011 and I have no idea how far back Desuarchive goes, plus images seem broken past like 10 years.
>>155062195Its just a very big middle finger to what was one of laura's big two ships, its understandable, i didnt read it then and i still dislike it lol>>155050707Isnt that jubilee though?>>155050816Love her in new x-men personally, and she's fun in x-force.
Not a fan
Is the shipping stuff the main reason people hate this? I actually like how Liu writes angry self-destructive damaged girls.
thanks OP
>>155067885People generally like Liu's X-23 series except for the Julian stuff which is near universally hated. I don't necessarily care one way or the other because Julian wasn't necessarily my favorite NXM character and I don't particularly like X-23.I was more invested in Wallflower and Elixir when NXM was coming out.
>>155064528>Avenger's AcademyOh man time for some suffering almost on par with what the Academy X kids went trough
