I think the movie clearly spells out that Peter has done the same exact thing by wiping MJ's memory and not telling her about it. He effectively turned her into a different human being by doing this. She now lives believing Ned is her childhood friend and has a boyfriend she would never have considered before the spell. She correctly grills Peter over this. "Why have you done this to me?" "This girl in your letter, I can see why she would love you"The movie doesn't reflect this back into Jean. I think they just expect you to notice that the movie is saying it is in fact bad to mentally manipulate other people into behaving in ways they wouldn't if they had all the information. You could really argue that what Peter did was worse than Jeans kissing scene because MJ started entire relationships based on a lack of knowledge. Her memory was subtracted and it affected her decisionmaking. Imagine if someone removed your devotion to something you truly love and didn't give you the first opportunity to get it back

How do you feel Ned compares with Harry Osborn? I feel I find Ned more entertaining as a geeky friend than Harry, but only in small doses. Harry felt too much like a rich sissy while I can conceivably see Ned as a classmate or friend of Peter due to their similarities and having their nerd hobbies as common ground. But Ned works in small doses to show Peter has a social life.

>>155065321Ned was effective. He is usually separate from the drama. In Brand New Day they did a good job of making playtime with Ned a therapy moment for Peter after years of pain and joylessness. Harry is pain. Every time he's on screen things get worse for Peter in some way. I think he is a more realistic character than Ned but he's also really unsettling to watc my because of that. I do not appreciate Ned being aware of Raimy Harry's tragedy and it being played off as a shock value gag
