>>155064990Yes, but I tend to gravitate more towards specific creators than IP, so something like Hellboy was interesting until Mignola stopped drawing it, or superhero comics where I like the team or creator on the book and their individual take of a character (Ditko, Frank Miller, Loeb & Sale, etc) rather than just buying every Spider-Man or Batman comic because I gotta have them all. Generally it's easier for me to just buy whatever new book Dan Clowes, Charles Burns or Geof Darrow releases than sift through a billion Marvel or DC monthly floppies.

You’re just depriving yourself of both sides’ better stories that way. Admittedly, most of the indies I read are 20+ years old. I can’t bring myself to care about a lot of newer ones. The art just isn’t the same, usually worse, and most of the writing seems too focused on some kind of message or homage to really grab me.

I probably would have been more into the indie scene as a kid if every non big two trade in the library was stuff like Ninja Turtles and Heavy Metal instead of Gen Xers drinking and swearing while not having a job in black and white.
