I had to tell ya, it's now or never
So much for closure, I lost composure
I get the message, I learned my lesson
Tried to correct it, I think I wrecked it
Man, it's a crisis, I'm never like this
That's how my life is, you couldn't write this

I'm a loser, babe
Do you wanna tear my heart out?
I'm a tragedy
Tryna figure this whole mess out

I'm out of favor, my worst behavior
I get the message, I learned my lesson
Desperate times call for desperate measures
I fell into ya, I fell into ya
Tried to correct it, well, shit, I wrecked it

I'm a loser, babe
Do you wanna tear my heart out?
I'm a tragedy
Tryna figure my whole life out

I leave alone and
Dark streets, I roam in
Night air, I breathe in
The stars, I believe in

I don't know why I didn't fight it
I probably tried and magnified it
I cannot lie, I feel defeated
Take it as a sign, you're badly needed
You're badly needed
Badly wanted.....

Saying this as someone who likes the ship and thinks this guy's point is dumb: cut it out.

This kinda behavior just encourages tribalistic shitflinging. It's not going to help anything. If you like the ship, go make art or a fic or something. If you can't do that, go support the people who are doing it. Trying to tear down some random chud who happens to disagree with you is both pointless and pathetic.

A core part of Peter's character is letting go. The reason why he's so hung up on MJ because never had closure. Since she said she doesn't love him, Spider-Man is done, he had his closure. Sometimes your childhood sweetheart isn't the one for you and that's okay.

I mean I would have been willing to accept Zendaya if she could act. But she is paid millions just to scowl at the screen and she isn't precisely a looker. If she had a personality and got actively involved with the plot, I would have enjoyed watching her.
An example is Amazing Spiderman's Gwen. She wasn't superpowered but she actively dealt with Spiderman's superhero life and helped him, so she was enjoyable to watch.
Meanwhile MJ in the Raimi films was Kirsten fucking Dunst. But she had the same personality issues that made me wish her scene was over already so we could move on to the fun part instead of just causing drama for Peter.
I'd say of the new characters, I enjoyed Liz more than Zendaya even if she wasn't my favorite. At least she had something going for her.

I think she can use telepathy without possessing people, right? I mean she had a guy just driving her around while she was out possessing others and fighting Peter.

Watched the movie over the weekend. I get this ship now.

I think that the movie actually did waste an opportunity to do something more interesting than it did. Its obvious that the writers want to put Peter and MJ back together, a return to the status quo before the end of the third movie, but thats boring. It turns a multi-movie emotional struggle into a nothingburger waste of time.

The more interesting direction that I don't think they have the balls to do is that Peter reconnects with MJ and Ned, but never rekindles the romance with MJ. They are close friends, but Peter has to accept that the relationship he had with this girl is gone and it can't come back just because he wants it to. She has a life now that, until about a week ago, didn't include him at all. Her boyfriend isn't just a placeholder in her life waiting for Peter to come back, thats a serious relationship.

Peter, then, has to move on. And while Peter doesn't immediately see Jean that way, after the way they trauma-bonded at the end of this movie there is solid groundwork for Jean to develop a crush on Peter out of emotional desperation if nothing else. Have Peter become what is essentially Jean's only lifeline in a world that has otherwise abandoned her, someone that she doesn't have to worry about pushing away because he's already seen her at her worst and accepted her instead of been afraid of her.
Also, to someone like Jean, the fact that she CAN'T read his mind at the drop of a hat is kind of a prerequisite to having a functional relationship. You can't treat someone as an equal partner if you can just read their thoughts like a book at the drop of a hat, violating their privacy and agency on a whim. Such a person was always be a pet or a toy, not a partner. Peter's resistance to her psychic powers makes him the ideal candidate for her, in the same way that a girl who was born invisible would best match with the one person that can actually see her.
>>

>I mean I would have been willing to accept Zendaya if she could act. But she is paid millions just to scowl at the screen
I think she probably can act but she only gets roles that make use of her resting bitch face and nothing else in her kit.
Michelle is a very nothing character, doesn't really do anything for the plot and lacks any sort real dynamic or chemistry with Hollandman, unfortunately.
>>
>>155072466

Precisely where I hope they're going. I expected there to be more information about Michelle's boyfriend.
>Peter doesn't immediately see Jean that way, after the way they trauma-bonded at the end of this movie there is solid groundwork for Jean to develop a crush on Peter out of emotional desperation if nothing else. Yes! A slow burn romance would be far more enjoyable than rushing through it or going back to Peter's oneitis.
>You can't treat someone as an equal partner if you can just read their thoughts like a book at the drop of a hat, violating their privacy and agency on a whim. Such a person was always be a pet or a toy, not a partner.
I kind of want that to be about Jean's growth and character development. To slowly learn through Peter's example that she can't just go and read everyone's minds or make them dance to her tune like puppets.
I hope they don't turn her into a quippy girlboss and instead keep her sociopathic tendencies. She has lived on the run for years and has no stability, correctly believing the government is out to get her. She probably didn't develop social skills so the first path for her to develop is to start learning boundaries.
Also and I repeat it once more, killgrave would be a perfect dark reflection.
>>
>>155072466
>You can't treat someone as an equal partner if you can just read their thoughts like a book at the drop of a hat.

I don't think that argument holds too much weight. I can just about completely immobilize my girlfriend with one hand. She's small and doesn't do much musclebuilding exercises so if I just sort of put my hand on her chest while she's lying down and exert moderate pressure she can't stand up. This was just something we did for fun but we did at one point talk about the fact that the difference in my strength vs hers means I could probably kill her whenever I wanted very easily. She continues to be in a relationship with me because she (correctly) trusts that I love her too much to do that to her. I wager there are millions of people in similar relationships whether that power disparity comes from things like physical strength or stuff like money. Relationships always have power disparities, and while stuff like superpowers make it more dramatic, trusting your partner is how you bridge the gap.
>>
>>155072532
Precisely, would be more interesting if Jean CAN read Peter's mind...but doesn't, because she loves him and respects him.
I agree that its a weird thought I had too when I was dating. "Huh I could probably easily kill her" and I'm not sure if I should worry about that kek
>>
>>155072466
>Its obvious that the writers want to put Peter and MJ back together
They tried having She-Who-Scowls and the CEO of sex regain their memories but nobody they tested it on liked it so we got the shitty pendant and the handshake scenes.

I like the ideas but the thoughts thing is just a trust issue. Using it sometimes isnt the problem its when it gets used and why.

Another thing to consider in regards to Jean developing feelings for Peter: its not just the trauma bonding at the end. Consider what she knows about Pete from earlier in the movie:

She possessed Frank earlier in the film, and comments that he has some deep fucking issues. Which is a funny joke because its true, but if she could see that she also probably saw what Frank thinks/feels about Peter, and its very obvious that as much as he tries to push Peter away Frank trusts and respects Peter to a pretty deep level. Thats a pretty strong recommendation of Peter's character.

And then there is the letter that Jean read. A letter that is *entirely* about how much Peter was willing to sacrifice to keep his loved ones safe, and how much he loves this other girl and how important she is to him. To someone with Jean's abandonment issues, Peter's devotion to MJ is going to be EXTREMELY attractive. She wishes that someone felt the same way about her, because remember this is a girl that got kicked out of her own house by her mom after she developed powers. Trust issues are going to be rooted pretty deep here.

Basically everything she knows about Peter adds up to him being a great guy with all of the qualities in a guy she would want to have someone that deeply cared about her and would never abandon her. She would be very protective of him, perhaps to a dangerous degree. We saw what she did to get her sister back, imagine what she would do if she saw Peter fighting a supervillain on TV and that Peter looked like he was losing? Whatever happens next, it isn't going to be good.

I do find it funny how hard she was trying to make a backhanded compliment towards it. It's obvious she thought the letter was very sweet, and in my headcanon she was a little jealous so she made fun of it.
>>
>>155072764
Yeah, thats definitely how it comes across. She's trying to play the villain so she wants to mock it to get under Peter's skin, but she just... can't.

I think at that point she was so cynical she didn't really believe it. Like if Peter really cared he would've been fighting to get MJ back as hard as she was fighting to get Sarah back. It wasn't until the end when she was in his head that she realized he really meant it.

>>
>>155072466
The start of the movie makes it seem like Peter's issue is moving on, we see stuff like rejecting making conversation with that cute bkond and moving to a reclusive appartment obsessing with friends who don't remember his name. Then we have that conversation between Peter and MJ were she straight up says she doesn't know him, and it gives the sense than that connection is lost and you can see why then people ship Jean they might be alone but could find someone on the other. But by the end when we go back leaning on the memory of his friends and him talking to Ned and it feels like the story wants to go back to the status quo.
>>
>>155072912
It also allows for a cool battle couple. AND, when you think about it, pairing up Jean with Peter also sidesteps repeating the Fox x-men arcs again, because if Jean is with Peter we don't have to do the whole Wolverine/Jean thing again.
>>
>>155072466
>It turns a multi-movie emotional struggle into a nothingburger waste of time.
Them reconnecting should at least have consequences. Would they have the balls to oull a Gwen Stacy with Michelle? Doubt it, but Peter stayed away for a reason.
>>
>>155072919
Exactly! You can tell that this movie went through a lot of rewrites, because it feels a bit at odds with itself. It wants to try and have it both ways but it can't.
Which is why I feel like there is all of this groundwork for Peter and Jean to become this cool supportive relationship where they both have to let go of the past and find a war forward, but I don't trust corporate to not suck Peter back into the Zendaya-shaped black hole purely out of cowardice.
If Peter and Jean become a thing I'll be thrilled, i think it would make for a much better story, but I'm not holding my breath.

If anything this movie proved that staying away from Ned and MJ was objectively the correct decision. Literally IMMEDIATELY after someone found out that 'Spider Man' still had feelings for MJ, her life was in danger and he had to rescue her and put her in hiding for her own protection. Like, within the same fucking 24 hours. This was a complete validation of Peter's guilt/paranoia. MJ was safe for four years without getting attacked by supervillians or shit because Peter stayed away from her, and she only ended up in danger again because of him and it was specifically to try and use her against him.

Logically, if Peter cares about MJ's safety his only mistake was not keeping even MORE distance between them, it was holding on to elements of his old life that put her in danger again.

I see, thanks, just wondered because there are many who mock Superman for example (another favorite character who would probably get along with Peter nicely) for being a do gooder and call him a simp beta. But sometimes women take it as desirable traits so I wondered if there's a reason a character could be seen as cool while having provider/protector traits instead of being seen as pathetic for having those same traits.
>>
>>155073042
Anon, I think you need to watch different youtube videos. Most women prefer a man who will actually demonstrate that he cares for them. "Alpha" mentality gets you quick fucks with whores, morons and teenagers who don't know any better. Being in a long-term relationship requires demonstrating stability, loyalty, and affection.

If you're wondering why people like Spider-Man after many successful movies, comic run, and cartoons, there must be something wrong with your mind. People just inherently like spider-man because he's a hero and a good person. Kids want to dress up like him because he's cool and funny. Adults relate to him because he has human struggles, yet have his own identity. He's a nerd, but still likable to jocks. Flash Thompson LOVE Spider-Man

Everyone likes Spider-Man. That's why a cynical guy like Frank Castle was chosen to be paired up with Spider-Man. He's what YOU can be. He's not a self-insert, he's the end goal, you root for him to him. In Earth 616, he's quite literally God's favorite Superhero.

The people complaining about Supes personality are generally jaded men who want him to be an isekai anime tier power fantasy.
Women generally don't care much about Superman because he's kind of seen as a character for boys due to being the quintessential virtuous super hero who saves the world and stops bad guys, while other heroes are seen as more human by having fundamental character flaws and emotional fragility dealing with drama. It's not necessarily true, but it's a general perception issue.

Jean and Peter ARE a good ship, but it just makes it all the more insufferably hamfisted that Jean doesn't just fucking TELL Spiderman that she is looking for her kidnapped sister during one of their many conversations earlier in the film, especially once she is learned enough about the guy to know that he's likely to be sympathetic and even helpful in pursuit of her goal.

Like, seriously: what would telling him cost her? Even if Spiderman still was working against her afterwards, the information doesn't help him beat her or anything. It wouldn't make her more vulnerable. And Damage Control already knows that she is the person hitting their facilities anyway, because they are aware of her power and its obvious that she is the one doing it even if they do not know exactly where she is hiding.

There was literally no reason to keep her motivation a secret/not to ask for help beyond the fact that the screenplay requires everyone to be an idiot to prolong the film.

Jean Grey Getting New Comic Series Following 'Brand New Day' Success

>The hero—who recently made her MCU debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day—returns to Earth this November in Jean Grey #1, the start of a five-issue limited series from X-Men writer Jed MacKay and acclaimed artist Rogê Antônio.

Jean Grey has never been a good character. Comics, cartoons, movies, nothing. So this new MCU Jean, who has had an unequaled response, should not be required to draw on past material for her future movies. It's okay to write a new character, and it's okay for that character to be Peter Parker's love interest.
>>
>>155074567
Dark Phoenix storyline doesn't make sense with this version of Jean, like at all. The entire point Dark Phoenix is the goody-two-shoes boring nice girl Jean becoming an uninhibited bad girl and taking a walk on the wild side. This version of Jean isn't a meek boring princess from the start, Dark Phoenix would just be redundant for her.

Just recontextualize it to her being a ticking time bomb. The incident in BND will follow her and others will expect her to crash out again. You'll have people who walk on eggshells with her and people who think
>it's only a matter of time before she freaks out again
and treat her like shit because of it
>>
It's not that complicated. Jean thinks Peter is a cop because he has always sided with the state over the little guy and he's literally done this. The only time he didn't was NWH.
Shield tells him to do something he does it. Damage control tells him to do something he does it. The sokovia accords tell him to do something he does it. She has no reason to assume he would be on her side over Sara. For all she knows he would say Sara deserves to be in jail for possessing people and then arrest her too. This isn't comic Peter. MCU Peter never had a "Cap was right" moment.
>>
MCU Jean is more interesting than Comic Jean.
>>
>>155074720
Holy shit, actually, they should've shown that this Jean was following MCU peter from the start and saw how much of a corporate / government stooge he was. That actually would've reinforced her hatred quite well and gotten more of the audience to be on her side.
>>
>>155074763
I think the movie should have been more obvious about two thinks

>Jean is entirely aware of Peters history and sees him as a super powered Damage control agent. One of the damage control agents she controlled loves him.

>Peter is just as guilty of mind manipulation. MJ's life was radically changed off course because he didn't fulfill her request to tell her what happened as soon as possible before she figures it out
>>
>>155073437
It does share elements of it
>>
>>155074763
Yeah I think a lot of people don't really pick up that MCU Peter sided with iron man and fought to arrest Cap for breaking the accords. Something Jean and her sister are guilty of before the events or the movie.

Only because she's a menace that hasn't redeemed herself to the public yet even by the end of BND. Peter is the sole person that would vouch for her not being a sociopath. Problem is Spider-Man could also be accused of being in bed with her which is making him biased.

>Civil War
Peter sided with the government against Captain America. Unlike the comics be never gets punished for this

>Homecoming
Peter defeats Vulture, who is motivated by Damage Control ruining his livelihood. Peter completely disregards Vulture's argument that people need to do illegal things to survive because it involves selling guns to criminals. Ultimately Peter ends the movie on positive terms with the government

>Far From Home
Peter starts the movie working closely with police
Peter is recruited by the government to stop Mysterio's monsters and punished repeatedly for not doing what Fury says
>No Way Home
Peter is almost killed by Damage control and fights against Dr. Strange. This is the most anti government Peter has ever been but nobody remembers these characters events
>Brand New Day
Peter immediately sided with the police and the government. When he is questioned for working with damage control he argues on their behalf. When Peter finally goes against damage control it is confirmed that what they were doing was illegal anyways. Messinger goes on the run for his crimes.

I'm going to make an unfortunate argument here. The MCU has full proofed Peter from being a vigilante. Spider Man is often pitted against the police in other media as a way of establishing that he isn't a government hero. He does things his own way. MCU Peter is not there. He legitimately never looked further into Cap's arrest. Cap is breaking the law so he sides against him. Simple as. The actual morality doesn't come up like it did in other media.

So when Jean questions Peter for siding with Damage Control, an organization that actually shot and injured him with live rounds in the previous movie, Peter declares that she deserves it.
When you ask what Jean didn't ask him for help, you have to realize this is no different from asking a Damage Control agent for help. MCU Peter is lawful good not Chaotic good. He lets all of her victims get arrested

"Superhero spandex with a coat over it" is actually a kickass look and I wouldn't at all mind if it became the X-men's whole aesthetic. Jean can keep the chunky hobo jacket, Rogue gets her weird jacket that only gets her shoulders and chest (seriously what kinda jacket is that even supposed to be). Give someone else a trenchcoat, bomber jacket, everyone gets their own fit.

To the film's credit, on my second watch I perceived that her second conversation with him, where she starts possessing that black guy in the street, she does ask him why he's working with damage control. If she'd perhaps been a bit less aggressive about it, maybe he wouldn't have said because she's dangerous, and maybe they could have found some common ground.
>>
The jacket outfit is definitely a proto-costume just like Peter's goggle outfit. Thats why it happens to have the same color scheme as her superhero costume. She's going to wear either spandex or one of those military outfits that vaguely resembles her comic outfit. Most likely the latter due to how she's characterized. This Jean probably doesn't want to wear spandex.

nah, he told metzger he wanted to talk to her after she was incarnated. that to me suggests he wanted to find out her motivations and if they were sympathizable enough, maybe even make a case for rehabilitation.

Unironically yeah, Peter wouldn't have given it a second thought if MJ hadn't said anything.
He was so distracted during the previous possessions to really pay attention to what the people were saying about it to notice the inconsistency until MJ said it in a moment of complete peace and relaxation that Peter could finally go "oh shit wait".

I think MCU Jean as a character has no sense of personal space or decency. She doesn't care about privacy. Look at how she didn't hesitate while using MJ's body like that. She didn't have to do this. She wanted to ruin him. She wanted him to know that nobody is safe from her and that if she can't get into his head she will get into his mouth. There is no safety. He is prey.

Everyone thinks the kiss was extreme and unnecessary but I think that was kind of the point? It's a character establishing moment warning Peter that Jean will do ANYTHING to get what she wants and that there is no moral limit that will stop her. The movie is confirming that she isn't just being cocky. She is dangerous and equipped to cause extreme pain if provoked. The kiss says "I will make you regret getting in my way as much as I possibly can"

The dichotomy between him being NYC's most beloved superhero and the only person she views as an equal vs. Someone who stands in her way and is pretty adamant about it for some reason.
Even post-capture, Jean still gives him some leniency. She specifically beats his ass so she can talk about how similar they are and how they both should give up being human.
>>
Jean's exact age isn't given in the movie but I assume 19 because I fefel like she just doesn't behave like a teenager at all. She goes on way too many grandiose speeches that actually sound like a cynical adult. An edgy teenager would try harder to sound like Sephiroth or something. Jean isn't being performative like teenagers tend to be, she actually means all the thigns she's declaring to Peter

This is her tacitly inviting him over to her side. The non human side.

Be honest with yourself, you don't get to be Peter Parker anymore. Be Spider-man. Make the same decision I did and be a monster. It's kind of like Goblin's speech.
A lot of people get confused by the argument in the end because they say that "Being spider man vs peter parker isnt the conflict" but it is.
To be 100% Spider is to live alone, be a machine that stops crime. Have no friends. Act as a crime stopping entity for the rest of your life and stop trying to balance it all

To the movies credit there is no contrived are we the baddies thing where Peter has the opportunity to hear the other side and learn grey morality crime le good actually. He stays exactly the same whole movie because he's right when he stops Jean and right when he takes down damage control for trying to shoot him in the face and right when he turns Gmanman in to the government after convincing Jean to not kill.

Jean is the same under other circumstances and without Spiderman's moral framework. So the same conviction clashes all movie until spiderman powermindbottoms his upbringing into Jean.
>>
>>
>>155076966
I don't think there's any viable path to a peaceful partnership for them. Peter would insist on doing things "clean" by going to the media or something, and that would never work with Damage Control having the full weight of the government behind it while Jean has a bad reputation and no one aligned with her can be that credible since she has literal mind control powers. The only possible way it would work is Valentina deciding having Jean and Spider-Man owing her a favor is worth selling out Damage Control. Jean would probably get impatient and go grab the Hulk long before that kind of political maneuvering could ever happen.

Well we know the New Avengers (tm) are weighed down by a lot of shit by the time of the post-credit scene in their movie: Sam's whole name 'tism, the media taking fat shits on them every chance they get, and their merch not even being popular. Honestly Yelena's whole potato thing to Peter was probably her deflecting because she's busy dealing with bullshit instead of actual hero work.
The real answer is bad writing of course.
>>
>>155076966
I don't think she was going into the "joining forces" angle (as she was already handling DC all by herself), but she really wanted to see the "monster" loose, whatever that is.
Monster Peter, for all she's seen and how Peter perceives himself as, is something that's supposed to be contained. It's violent (as Jean can attest to, considering it stomped her and held her by the throat), it almost kills a civie in a fit of rage, and it would've killed that Hand agent if "Peter" didn't exist to save him.
I'm not even sure what Jean herself would've done next as monster, considering she had no concrete goal anymore.

i wonder if the police lady being immediately understanding that something is wrong with peter is the movie trying to telegraph that there are people out there who will try and understand mutants (peter is not a mutant but for the purposes of the story he has to have parallels to mutants) so when he clearly deliberately uses all of his might to slam scorpion into an incoming police car she knows that something about him must have gone off and he needs to rest

It's also part of the foiling they do between Peter and Jean.
Peter's emotional state directly affects his spider hormones fucking up, which causes him to act uncharacteristically to his own detriment. He becomes "dangerous" instead of just "different"
Everything Jean does in the movie is born out of her emotions from being abandoned by her mom, and her sister being kidnapped by the government in broad daylight. She becomes "dangerous" before the movie even begins, and it isn't until Peter recognizes where that comes from that she's able to become "different" again via May.

It establishes her abandonment complex due to her mother leaving her and her older sister.
They go out of her way to have her focus on a mother and her child playing together, showing what her desire is.
They show how emotionally dependent Jean is on her sister, who has to act as a surrogate parent and teacher for their developing psychic powers
It shows that her older sister encultured an "us vs them" mentality in Jean Grey regarding mutants and non mutants and more broadly people with powers vs normal people.
Then they have the trauma of losing her sister to Danger Control and finding herself alone in a park after her sister ends the possession.

The point is to give Jean Grey a moral justification for what she has done. It's to show why she thinks and acts the way she does (callous disregard for collateral ddamage) and sets up for the eventual talk with Aunt May inside Peter's mind. If Jean Grey wasn't so desperate for a parental figure to accept her, if she didn't have the beliefs that normal people can't accept people with powers, then the scene wouldn't work.
Whether you consider the pay off worth it or well done is another thing, but most critics seem to be dramatically missing the point and its starting to get annoying.

Come to think of it, I don't think there's a single scene excite for Spidey's voyeur moment for her to be charming.
Also why does everyone keep saying that they both regained their memories when Zendaya explicitly says she doesn't remember Peter.

The only scene I can see as an example is Peter's best friend, but he explicitly doesn't recognize Peter even at the ending. Only recognizing that "Peter" is "Spiderman Peter" and showing that Peter as Spiderman and Ned just naturally get along as friends (MJ noting from her observation that they act like natural friends).
Even the handshake thing is presumably Ned having done the handshake with his college friends and then being surprised that Peter aka Spiderman also knows it (because Peter still has his memories, everyone else forgot him)

It's just another "retard youtubers didn't watch the movie and outed themselves" moment.

the fact of the matter is, peter forgives her, considers her worthy of redemption. that's why he takes a bullet for her and that's why she gets a sympathetic ending and not, say, jailtime for walking a guy into traffic.

She let him win most of their fights and only truly hurt him by kissing him using his old lover's body then attempting to kill that person. The Hand fight at the end was only in defense. Jean was trying to convince Peter to lose control to prove a point, not kill him.
>>
>>155078811
I think they meant performative in the sense that she overexaggerated her ideals or goals. She was pretty direct in saying and showcasing "Humans suck, I don't care about them, I am willing to use them however I need to to get what I want".

She fucked around a little for sure but she didn't stop to give some kind of JRPG villain speech about pitiful humans living meaningless lives, all just waiting to be pawns in her game.

It's not that Jean was right, it's firmly out of character for her to ask Spider-man for help. She is confident that she can do it without help and Spider-man is being openly blunt that whatever her motivations are he is going to stand against her. He says it in his own words multiple times

Yes, that's the character. When people ask why she doesn't ask Spider-man for help this is the issue. A flaw. She could have asked him for help and for all we know he likely would have listened, but she's a ruthless girl on a rampage and he's blocking her way while repeatedly saying he won't let her keep doing whatever she wants

>>
>>155079228
I think you're mixing up the point. It's not that Jean is doing the right thing or that she's being logical, it's that she made the assumption that Peter would side with Damage Control regardless of the information. His superhero debut was literally him helping arrest Cap which he brags about doing. A rogue bodyjacker is not going to trust MCU Spider-man
"My runaway sister is in jail please help me" is going to follow up with "Why is she in jail?"
>>
>>155079292
Yes, what about it?
That doesn't excuse anything. Putting aside the totally pointless cruelty like walking people into traffic or kissing Peter, you'd think a super telepath would have some pretty useful tools to find out if Peter is trustworthy.

Anon what do you want me to say? She is literally the bad guy in this situation. She is wrong for involving innocent people in her attacks. She is wrong for drawing an imaginary moral line in the sand regarding Damage Control. She is wrong for assuming Spider-man is complicit in innocent people getting captured. She is wrong for actively hurting innocent people to prove a point. She is the villain. She is a bad person doing bad things because she made a terrible leap in logic that Peter accidentally encouraged. There is no version of this scenario where Jean is the good guy. She did bad things for bad reasons. It's just not bad writing. The character is a violent, vengeful girl.
>>

nta Jean seemed more entertained by the fact that she couldn't read his mind than scared, but she did not ask him for help because he told her that it didn't matter what V-max was anyways since he'll stop her anyways (hulk scene)
Realistically he would change his mind if he knew that Damage Control illegally abducted someone but Jean wouldn't know that
>>
Jean WAS justified. MCU Peter is pro government and keeps fucking shit up because people in black suits told him to. He deserved everything he got, including being told off for thinking magical true love kisses were a thing. He's a fucking retard.

in their defense the movie doesn't clarify a lot of things that need to be clarified. Like Ned remembers being rescued by Spider-man all those times, he just doesn't remember who Peter was. They could have fixed this somehow by bringing up how Ned and MJ became friends. Ned and MJ were NOT friends before NWH so it is important to fill in the blank. If they really remember everything about Spidey that didn't involve Peter there's a lot of shit that goes unexplained like why it took so long for them to get accepted into colleges when they're both geniuses
>>
>>155079490

I think this dynamic would be more compelling if Peter and Jean were more cruel to each other. Jean is basically an insult to Peter's entire life philosophy. She has great power and uses it irresponsibly. He should have been mocking her like he mocks the other villains.

Meanwhile Jean on the other hand keeps letting him walk away. Why the fuck would she do that? She has hurt so many other people for less. She should be willing to break his fingers for showing up a second time.
>>
>>155079775
>Hard to believe it came from the fucking MCU of all places though
For it to be Jean and Peter of all people as well is pretty crazy. I expected a potential romance between Felicia or Gwen Stacy (though that still can happen in future movies) but for Jean and Peter to bond so well over really just one scene, despite being (formerly) enemies, threw me off guard. Then the ship popularity just skyrocketed. Tons of fanarts on Xitter, fics started flooding in on Ao3, millions of likes on PeterJean TikTok vids, extremely fast consistent threads on /co/ that hit bump limit, ect.
If Feige just says fuck it to the Michelle/Peter ship and go SpiderPhoenix and actually make it good, then a lot of people will be very happy.

Sadie and Zendaya were both super pretty and gave excellent performances though; I involuntarily held my breath every time Sadie Sink was on screen.
>>155072385
I unironically don't understand this argument, I'm pretty chuddy but except for Chani, where Villeneuve is far more at fault than she is, Zendaya has given a wide range of emotions and expressions and demonstrated her varied acting abilities quite well imo. I thought they gave Michelle quite a bit to do in these movies, and she's my favorite live action MJ ever. She suits mcu Pete well I think. It's not that crazy when you realize how many people are on the SpiderJean sub and how they could easily overwhelm other communities. This is the MCU's first popular straight ship
>>
>>155080699
Why did you slowed it down LMAO
>>
>>155080622
are you guys ready for 10 years of complaining about jean since she's going to be the main protag of the MCU mutants
>>
Why are men pretending they don't want to be raped by a violent redhead
>>
>>155080716
My body is ready if Peter and Jean are the new Tony and Steve except actual and hetero lovers this time.
>>
I'm just going to imagine Kishimoto mentioned to Dustin Daniel Cretin that he's using Boruto to make a straight version of Naruto and Sasuke so the shippers can fet it out of their system and a lightbulb went off in his head
>>
>>155080592
This is literally rape. From Peter's perspective he's with the love of his life. This is an invasion of the highest fucking order being presented as a cute warm quirk chungus tumblr moment

Have you all lost your fucking minds. This is actually genuinely just rape. She is manipulating his emotions to get close to him and be intimate with his body
Holy fuck
>>
>>155080622
but nobody died
>>
>>155080730
They'd be legitimately crazy to at least not make them the main duo, romantic or not
>>
>>155079347
I just realized the Peter being pinned by dark Phoenix has a boner
>>
>>155080758
they're also fictional characters
>>
>>155080592
I don't get it. Is Jean controlling Michelle (why?) or this just telling us that Peter moved on from Michelle and is doing the things he thought we wanted to do with Michelle but with Jean instead?
>>
>>155080758
AND SHE’S DOING BLACKFACE
>>
>>155080806
It’s meant to be the latter but the video is edited retardedly

Can you imagine the fucking meltdown from these sort of people if Peter gets together with his “rapist”? I already want the ship to happen for a variety of reasons but I’d also love for it to happen just to spite those people.

jean stop using your tears as an excuse to grope his ass

Thats not the message, the message is that Jean has replaced MJ as his girlfriend and whatever Peter and MJ did he now does with Jean.
>>
>>155080821
>finally sex with Jean
>she insists on using Michelle's body
Dammit Jean
>>
The funny thing is if anyone would have a serious hangup about sexual assault and consider it an immediate non-negotiable red flag it would be Scott Summers
>>

Any doujins of peter and (BND) age accurate jean?
>>
>>155080845
>doujins
>of anything not gacha
lol
>>
>>155080842
Using other bodies is a good way to make sure you don't get exhausted but still feel the sex
>>
>>155080592
>MJ consistently gets mindcontrolled by Jean, as if she was her symbiote, when she wants to get freaky
>Pic related is MJ leaving the hospital after Jean made her get rawdogged while hanging from the ceiling
>>
>>155080845
Give it a few months and you will have One Hurricane tier doujin
>>
>>155080855
>Pete at the Xaviers school
>Jean gets exhausted
>Starts cycling through the female students who are fine with being Spidey's sexual relief
>Jean in control, girl gets to watch from inside their head and remmeber afterwards
>Sudden baby boom, lots more responsibility for Peter
Somebody write it

Don't be lazy Jean.

Several episodes into Spider-man and his amazing friends later. Firestar has a pouty tsundere moment in the firestar episode when she learns Peter has a girlfriend. This is funny since she showed no sign of being interested before. Also the series REALLY loves the X-men.

>Next movie finally rekindles Peter and Michelle's relationship
>Michelle's boyfriend somehow moved on pretty quickly and she's unbothered by it
>Peter and Michelle go on an amazing journey of rediscovery and Michelle realizes she loves Peter completely and entirely. She cries tears of pure joy after realizing she finally has Peter back in her life. Nothing could be better
>Peter likewise is overrwhelmed by joy in the end, no more suffereing.
>Post credits scene
>Michelle's eyes close, Jean's eyes open.
>Michelle finds herself exhausted and confused. As if her body has been active for an entire day and she's only in control during the sleeping hours.
>This has been happening for a long time. Michelle only gets to be conscious when her body is exhausted for the day.
>Jean stares herself in the mirror, she can't believe how far she's gone. Controlling Michelle like that for months.
>"How am I supposed to tell him now"

If they actually end up becoming canon in the MCU they have to address the fact that their children will end up being freaks. The Spider powers and the mutant powers are not going to go well together.

Jean was a really good villain. They kept the Iron Man Jr stuff but they powerscaled it accordingly.
