I actually tried to make a MvC moveset focusing on his old "he doesn’t fight crime, he plays mean tricks on it instead" tagline. The idea was that Slapstick wouldn’t be a "good" character per se, but a PROFOUNDLY irritating one to fight in order encourage your opponent to blow through resources in order to kill him as fast as possible. He’d be able to tag in and out faster and easier than any other character, all of his assists (which also recharge way faster than every other character) would be obnoxious shit like tapping on an opponent shoulder to make them look behind them for a sec forcing them to stop whatever they were doing for sec (including combos), and a level 1 counter super that does nothing but clash with any other non-grab super (including level 3s). He would also have a level 5 called "Timer Scam" that does nothing but waste 10 seconds of a round while he does some lame comedy bit That kind of shit would probably be awful on a DLC character though so he should probably just rip off Peacock from Skull Girls if he ever actually makes it in.

As far as their claims of having 10 years of seasons, pretty sure Capcom said the same thing back when MvCI was new, and we all know how that turned out. Also, even outside of being based off themed, Ben also works if you make him a grappler because they lack one at the moment. That being said, that role can also be filled by Thor or Beta Ray Bill. If the game does last for a long time, then I can see them adding Reed, Sue, and Johnny as separate characters like how they added Android 17 in Dragon Ball Fighters despite being a special assist for Android 18.
