Despite effectively being a “space cop,” Green Lantern is one of the most popular superheroes among the black community

JL and JLU did a lot of heavy lifting most likely.
Cartoons have always been an excellent vehicle for driving people towards reading Comics in way that films never could.

Duh. At this point half of the Green Lanterns are some shade of brown.

is this a shill thread or a ragebait thread because of the youtube thumbnail
>>

Eh, that's like calling Superman a "super cop" or Batman a "vigilante cop" or Martian Manhunter an "invisible mindreading shapeshifting intangible cop but not if you're on fire"
>>
>>155119948
They probably clung to that one stupid panel forever
>>
>>155119948
They're a really dumb execution of that concept, imagine only assigning two police officers to patrol an entire state

I mean, it makes sense. The Lanterns aren't really "space cops", they're space knights which means they're heroes who can do things without being bogged down by constant reminders of the "real world". GL was also inspired by Lensmen which influenced Star Wars.

GL is also popular with black people for the same reasons as Invincible, the characters and circumstances they find themselves in parallel shared experiences among black Americans

>you want to contribute to the community in a way that actually fixes things but retarded social norms and the powers that be basically tie everything up in red tape
>members of your demographic who buck the norms either get killed, spiral into rage monsters who do nothing but lash out, or become what they sought to destroy (warlords, criminals, etc)
>the culture is extremely pro-conformity and pro-authority to the detriment of the people living in it

Hal is a lot more popular with black people than Jon is (Jon's pretty well liked by white guys, funny enough). Hal's pretty much every other black guy with a job:

>great at his job, horrible with his personal life and romantic relationships
>total bum and a mooch to the point his friends are fed up with him
>has a lot of repressed anger and pent-up frustration that occasionally leaks out
>constantly questions authority, reckless, doesn't like to plan ahead
>odd fixation towards teenaged white girls
>>
What I've noticed outside of here is that the people who have a fit about Green Lantern being a space cop are usually the ones who are quick to act like cops and police people on what they like, with no sense of self-awareness

What surprises me most is that they actually like Hal. I thought all Halfags were supposed to be white supremacists.

hay arisia is orange!

sorry, teenaged alien girls

got to be accurate with the Hal slander
>>

I don't believe this person has ever read a comic in their lives
>>
>>155121537
I'm more inclined to believe that she read comics than books.

I always liked the parody where Hal is getting this same lecture from an alien.
