Why is everything ironic and insincere now? Why does everything need quippy ironic humor to take away all feelings from the audience? How much more media like this do we need?
>>
>>155124035
That's exactly what killed the new MOTU movie for me. It gets so annoying.
>>
>>155124035
>Why is everything ironic and insincere now?
because when you use buzzwords with this level of vagueness, anything can be ironic and insecure

>Why does everything need quippy ironic humor to take away all feelings from the audience?
dialogue has always tended to be quippy for anything with even remote mass appeal
unless its some boring drama where people have to always be serious, then snappy dialogue is mandatory

theres a reason why Schwarzenegger is synonymous with them
>>
>>155124035
Because being sincere is cringe.
>>
>>155124035
does now mean the last 12 years
>>
>>155124063
if this thread is to be believed, then sincerity is just the opposite of having funny jokes
>>
>>155124063
You are cringe
>>
>>155124035
These jokes feel so old, like the corniest guy on late 00s internet got to finally be a writer.
>>155124050
You’ll suck any cock to progress your animation career
>>
Milennials are the writers and showrunners now, and their life experience comes mostly from other TV shows they watched, with the a quirk, they transported those TV quirks to real life. Look at a milennial talk, it's as if they are pausing for the laugh track or for their nonexistent audience to appreciate their facial gestures. So, of course, that real life behavior loops back into fiction and creates doubleironyplus.

If you're ashamed of being yourself, perhaps you should change who you are.

>>155124088
When everything is cringe, nothing will be.
>>
>>155124094
Wasn't this staged?
>>
>because when you use buzzwords with this level of vagueness, anything can be ironic and insecure
Why does the Vagueposter always accuse others of the crime for which he is guilty? Why do they always insist on feigned ignorance and mock disapproval to cover up their own vast intellectual shortcomings?
>>
>>155124128
the absolute irony of demanding more sincerity, as vague as they make it sound, while also calling everything cringe at the same time is pitiable

they consider vulnerability a weakness and then wonder why everyone has walls up
>>
>>155124158
imagine the crime of pointing out that people will just pull words out their ass
>>
>>155124035
Whedon.
>>
>>155124093
writers yeah, show runners no. most show runners are still gen x, and this kind of steeped in irony snark is pure gen x.
>>

>>
>>155124124
That's tranny behavior.
>>
Did there really need to be yet another thread when there was two up still?
>>

Vulnerability IS a weakness, and the punishment for weakness is death. Excruciatingly slow, agonizingly painful death.

>>
>>155124198
Go back
>>
>>155124159
it's why these faggots always whine and complain, but never create anything they want to see
they never want to make the shows they want to watch and always come up with excuses
>>
>>155124050
>dialogue has always tended to be quippy for anything with even remote mass appeal
It was different back then compared to right now. The dialogue has 100% degraded in media. BTAS had a few jokes but they didn't feel like modern dialogue.
>>
>>155124202
The ultimate goal is to eliminate humanity's capacity to care about anything. To reduce all of humanity to hollow, soulless drones that are incapable of a single original thought. To permanently ruin everything good about the human race, and make everyone be their worst possible self.
>>
>>155124234
>It was different back then compared to right now
ah yes, instead of making quippy, snappy dialogue
they made quippy, snappy dialogue
>>
>imagine the crime of pointing out that people will just pull words out their ass
Just because you have the vocabulary of a 10 year old doesn't mean words are meaningless
It's ironic, because the writers insist on subverting the source material and it's tropes and will doubtless do so throughout the show as well
>Inb4 But you can't know...
Yes I can
Furthermore, it's insincere because the writers HATE the source material. This isn't good natured ribbing by fans, this is CONSTANT meta, self referencial humor, which stopped being funny almost a decade ago now.
>Inb4 maybe not funny to (You) CHUD...
Well maybe it's funny to you, but look at you, you're defending a shitty Paramount+ cartoon. Your taste doesnt count for shit.
>>
>>155124239
If you think the writing quality of 80s/90s media is the same as right now you are retarded
>>
>>155124240
>Just because you have the vocabulary of a 10 year old doesn't mean words are meaningless
you are just throwing out big words like sincerity around without any real meaning behind what the hell thats supposed to mean
its just vagueness disguised as depth

>>
>>155124267
the concept of a "beat" where you give a slight pause for comedic effect has been around longer than the laugh track
the laugh track was invented simply to create a consistent laugh during those beats because a live studio audience might stop laughing after the fifth time they heard the same joke

I was gonna say - there's not problem with a Golden Axe show being a self aware comedy. The problem is that it isn't fucking funny.

That "FOR YURIA" bit is a horrific mangling of such an easy simple joke. I don't care where in the process that joke became such a fucking tragedy but this show doesn't understand the basics of comedy.

Ok this is bothering me too much

The beat where a laugh track gets inserted is not a natural comedic or performance beat. It comes from shows that were shot live in front an audience and it's the actors freezing the scene because the audience is too loud for them to continue. Later multicam sitcoms used laugh tracks and had the actors just take pauses on the set because that was the established sitcom formula.

Comedic beats are totally missing from the trailer and likely the show, as these crappy animated comedies always have a breathless pace that feels like a show on 1.5x speed. They come BEFORE the punchline and exist to build tension for comedic resolution.

Here's an example of a comedic beat of silence:

I loved the Genesis version, it's a good game. I don't need a cartoon of it, serious or comedy.

They've gotta keep a hold of those creative rights. Not that they want to actually do anything with them, they just don't want anyone else to have them. So they shit out an awful little cartoon series to refresh them and then go back to sitting on the IP for another decade.

This is the same website that mocked a guy for crying over Star Wars, i.e. expressing sincere emotion over his childhood favorite movie series. And the same website that mocks le panic attacks in cartoons. Make up your mind, will you? Is sincerity good or bad? I think I knw the answer and you don't actually want sincerity and all the gay vulnerability it entails, you just want masculinity and action media tropes played straight but you don't know how to articulate it. You're welcome.
>>
>>155124035
Sincerity is vulnerability. If you are sincere and people say your shit sucks, that’s an attack on you. Aka the people making these projects are cowards.
>>
>>155126215
>This is the same website that mocked a guy for crying over Star Wars, i.e. expressing sincere emotion over his childhood favorite movie series.
Everyone did because it was pathetic not emotional
>>
>>155126239
Well, then there's your answer. People make quippy dialogue instead of the stuff you like because they think the stuff you like is pathetic, they think about you liking it the same way you think about that guy.

Uhm that guy was liking a modern quippy garbage movie so I am seeing a little contradiction here
>>
>>155126215
People mocked him because he was crying over an advertisement, and worse, filming himself doing it.
No one is going to mock someone for crying over something like Grave of the Fireflies.
Posts like this are why no one watches cartoons anymore, always some retarded excuse to explain why the creators make nothing but trash.
>>
>>155124075
