It's so over, Carolbros...
>>

The way they've rolled the X-Men out over these last years, what should've been history's easiest layup, has been a masterclass in cluelessness.

Angry youtubers explained them to me, I'm good.

Yeah, because Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool & Wolverine were such big flops, right?

Are you simply not very bright? I'm talking creatively, story-wise. You're talking "LOOK AT THE BOX OFFICE BROOO" Don't waste my time dipshit.

Fuck no. Not even a third.
>>
>>155127653
>I'm talking creatively, story-wise.

So your parameters are completely subjective, whereas the box office is a quantitative yardstick of whether their approach has been well received or not. Noted.

Yeah, no Disney+ shows, only movies. I guess they're going to hit the brakes hard on more shows?

Why isn't The Marvels required watching, I thought Monica Rambeau ended up in the X-men universe. That seems more relevant than Shang-Chi who doesn't need much explanation when dude who fights with magic rings shows up with all the other random heroes.

I know it's not on the list or will ever be referenced again but what did /co/ think of the Eternals?
I've never seen it
Most say it's boring but it has snyderverse-esque defenders for some reason

Age of Ultron sucked pretty hard
>>
>>155132324
Eh
It at least wasn't as stupid and up its own ass as black panther
>>
>>155132168
It's dull as fuck, has a ton of characters with barely any development, the ''romance'' has zero chemistry, and it's long as shit for no reason. So it's pretty much the closest thing to a Snyder-lite MCU movie.

Yeah, bullshit. Don't I need to watch a ton of other movies for those movies to make sense? I can start Spiderman at the third movie no problem?
>>
>>155127289
Why would you need to see X-Men/X2 considering it won't contain Storm or that Jean Grey? It's like a completely different team
>>
>>155132950
It was the first MCU movie to fail with critics.
>>
>>155133052
For Charles and Magneto I assume.
>>
>>155133052
Those are the only Fox movies that Feiger was involved in, and the whole movie is just one personal nostalgia trip gor him. It doesn't even make sense not to include DoFP since that's probably the most important X-Men film, given that's the team we'll be following and that film retroactively mashes well with the plot and themes of Doomsday.
>>
>>155127289

>>155135263
It is, but it's still weird that DOFP ain't there considering the plot is about time travel and how they delete one entire timeline. Ain't that relevant to Doomsday plot?
>>
>>155135488
>but it's still weird that DOFP ain't there
I'm pretty sure they want to avoid the Young X-Men connection like Fassbenders Magneto so people aren't confused when Secret Wars&Co introduce the MCU mutants

>The way they've rolled the X-Men out over these last years
Tbh the real issue was not just making a fucking mutant movie. Instead we've gotten half a dozen characters going "hat is a mutant" across shows and movies
>Kamala being a mutant apparently
>MoM having Charles without much else
>Namor in Black Panther calls himself a mutant but it's weird due to his half-Atlantean heritage
>Jean fucking Grey in Spider-Man doesn't say mutant a single time
We've theorized (blank) movie will finally be their introduction for half a decade and it's going nowhere.
Current top theory is that Doomsday&Secret Wars will soft reboot the main MCU continuity, as in "the MCU but now there's a lot of mutants there too" which leads to the question why you'd introduce singular mutants beforehand.

If the X-Men in Doomsday are supposed to be the same ones from after DOFP's epilogue, then they would have also gone through the events First Class/Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix decades before. Would also explain why Mystique is part of the lineup, if they're accounting that she was essentially Charles' sister.
>>
>>155135600
>Would also explain why Mystique is part of the lineup
Mystique dies in Dark Phoenix
>>
>>155135622
Obviously she came back along with Jean. There's like a thirty year gap.
>>
>>155133240
I was going to say that DoFP ends with them rewriting time, so Last Stand never happened, but as I was writing this I recalled that with the characters and events of Dark Phoenix means it can't actually align with X-Men 1 & 2.

The final canon of that universe was:
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men: First Class
X-Men: Days of Future Past (the past sections)
X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (this is what fucks everything)
The New Mutants (ties to nothing, means nothing, who cares)

DoFP undoes Last Stand and subsequently The Wolverine. Fuck knows how Deadpool actually fits into everything; it'd make more sense if they stopped saying it was the same world.

However, DoFP shows Logan returning to the then present (2014) to find Jean (and others) alive, but Jean (and other key characters, like Mystique) die in Dark Phoenix, which was set in the 90's. You could say, "She's the Phoenix, she got better off screen," and while retarded, that would fit how the universe was handled.

Ever wonder how Professor X came back to life in that universe? In the after credits scene of Last Stand that nobody watched, Chuck spoke with Moira as a nurse. The explanation is that he had a previously unmentioned, comatose identical twin brother with no consciousness that he shifted his mind into when he died. Yes, really.

The canonicity of Logan is dubious, don't think about it, Fox clearly never thought about their canon.

The only way to spin listing X-Men 1 & 2 exclusively is if this is an alternate universe where only those two happened and nothing else counts. To be fair, that's probably wise, because outside of First Class and Logan everything else was just kinda shit.

Seems like most of these aren't essential. They just have characters they're using again. Like X2 is probably only on the list because of Nightcrawler.
Deadpool & Wolverine is probably only there because of Gambit.
Why does Thunderbolts have an asterisk?
>>
>>155135855
>Why does Thunderbolts have an asterisk?
Because Thunderbolts was never the official name, at the end of the movie, their team is revealed to be the "NEW AVENGERS"

It's lame except for the celestial lore.
The one part you actually need to know going forward is that planets are celestial eggs. Once a planet reaches enough intelligent life the celestial emerges and destroys the planet. This almost happened to Earth, but the Eternals stopped it. So now there's half a celestial corpse in the ocean filled with Adamantium and everyone wants it.

Deadpool & Wolverine establishes that everything is under a singular timeline, the conflict is literally kickstarted by Tom from Succession wanting to destroy the FoX-verse timeline because he thought Logan was so good that it would be better to just end it right there than letting it decline.

Exactly when the Deadpool films takes place or why Wade knows about an event that presumably takes place in the future? Don't think about it too hard.

I did actually see most of these aside from Wakanda Forever and BNW. Where's Ant-Man? Is he dead and buried as a character now?

His last movie ended with a tease that he would be an important Avenger because he already fought against Kang, obviously that story thread is dead and buried now.

It's unfair to ask kids to watch Deadpool & Wolverine. It's rated R and their parents won't let them. Also, if Deadpool is gonna be in Doomsday, I'll actually bother seeing it in theaters. I love Deadpool.

Even without the leaks, Marvel hasn't been subtle about their presence in Doomsday considering they've had Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman publicly promote the film twice now.

>>155137394
Kids (as in Alphas) don't seem to give a flying fuck about Marvel other than Spider-Man. Disney knows they're banking on Millenial/older Gen Z nostalgia to carry this film.

I think it's just fascinating how people feel so embarassed by the inherent concept of fanservice crossovers when that is literally what comics were created for. And it does work, the most post-Endgame successful entries were multiverse focused barring Brand New Day. Doomsday will probably make $3 billion since it already made the first in ticket preorder sales.
