Did DC fumble the Peacemaker hype?
>>
What hype?
The hype was around DC shills and secluded within DC products, like having him as a DLC in MK games, published by WB.
Everyone else just think it is another goofy John Cena direct-to-streaming stuff, and there's tons of that shit around.
>>
Astroturfed shilling is not hype
>>
>>155129304
Nice cope
>>
>>155129283
Why do /co/ntrarians make discourse impossible
>>
>>155129283
>>155129304
You can't even define the word shill. That word has as much meaning as 'racist' 'nazi' and 'woke' in 2026.
>>
>>155129458
>You can't even define the word shill.

Of course we can you imbecile. A shill is anyone trying to make you buy anything at all. That's it. That's a very simple, objective explanation. It's also what the word has meant for 100+ years in case you didn't notice.
>>
>>155129206
Isn't he based off the Comedian?
Or was the Comedian based off him?
>>
>>155129904
Comedian was based off of him. Peacemaker was one of the Charlton characters Moore wanted to assrape but DC wouldn't allow.
>>
>>155130008
Why are comic writers so petty? What was his beef with Charlton?
>>
>>155129206
I did like the early 2020s SS run with him in it
>>
>>155130028
Alan Moore's hatred for Charlton and comics generally goes back to when he was young and growing up. He would play soggy biscuit with the lads and always lose consistently to a bunch of comic readers, and one of them read Charlton comics. Everything Moore's done has been revenge for it.
>>
>>155130207
I didn't, it stunk of 5G leftover.
>>
>>155130246
Soggy biscuit?
>>
>>155130250
Okay
>>
>>155129206
They gave him a whole show, that's more attention than any comic would give him.
>>
>>155130355
And despite being a great show they've basically cancelled it. Curious.
>>
>>155130386
They still got Gunn leading the DCU, no way we won't see Peacemaker again.
>>
I liked that one Black Label book.
It had Red Bee and Snowflame.
>>
>>155130394
I hope we do. John deserves the work.
>>
>>155130386
turns out you still need viewers. Go figure!
>>
>>155130547
Which it had btw.

Wow, what a vague nothing of an answer

What does he do
>>
>>155129206
The Steve Pugh miniseries was enjoyable but I basically will read anything with his art.
>>
>>155129206
Wonder if End of Life was a reworked sequel to "Peacemaker tries hard".
Just replace the asshole assassin with asshole "superhero"
>peace maker kills the wrong mob boss
>everyone is after him to kill him
>runs off to visit his retired super villain dad

Peacemaker S1 was good.
Peacemaker S2 was not, which killed my soul.
>>
>>155132486
Come now. It was passable. Why does everyone act like if something is literal DIAMONDS its the drizzling shits

He loves peace, anon.
>>
>>155132554
All that anon said is that it was not good, and that's not far off from what you said. You didn't say it was good, either, merely passable.
>>
>>155133010
>yeah man he just said it wasn't good
>killed my soul
Gaslighting.
>>
>>155132898
Still gets me
>>
>>155129206
Outside Pax America, DC keeps raping Peacemaker
>>
>>155133223
Makes sense. DC didn't create him so they don't care for him. Vince McMahon strat.
>>
>>155133223
It's funny that the Comedian is not that much farther removed from the original Peacemaker character than the versions that DC have come up with over the years.
>>
>>155129206
I guess so but what more can you really do with the character to be fair
Also how is this sort of vile crass shit always what becomes popular?
>>
>>155133438
Was the original Peacemaker a rapist
>>
>>155133454
No, but he wasn't the mentally ill son of a Nazi or a dumb redneck either.
>>
>>155133535
Rivals added a character called the Hood recently but anytime I hear the Hood I think of the guy that kicked Comedian's ass for trying to rape Silk Specter I
>>
>>155132898
This movie is so fucking good
>>
>>155133807
Explain the terrible box office then
Everyone knows
box office = good
>>
> Did DC fumble the Peacemaker hype?
You mean the fake bullshit hype push by Gunn? You can't fumble something you never had.

>GUNNNNNN

>Did DC fumble by not synergizing Peacemaker to make him the goofy manchild OC that Gunn uses for all his movies?
No, I think they’re fine.
>>
>>155130562
Not enough, evidently.
>>
I don't even understand what OP want.
For example, Peacemaker is a completely new character under James Gunn, and in the movie and the show he mostly serves as the goofy figure with misguided ideas about heroism, shaped by a toxic, traumatic upbringing under a cruel and bigoted redneck. He’s there so other characters can highlight how wrong and ridiculous he is, and much of what makes him work comes from his dynamic with the other characters Gunn created. Because of that, he wouldn’t really work as a lead on his own, you’d need an ensemble for him to interact and banter with.
And if we're talking about better promote the previous version of the character in the comics, what would be the point when he is so different from the one from the movie and show?
>>
>>155134085
>Because a studio would never shut down a popular IP to save a few bucks
>>
>>155129283
Yup, nobody cares about Peacemaker. It's just John Cena acting out his homo impulses and daddy issue (like every Gunn character)
>>
>>155129206
>Did DC fumble the Peacemaker hype?
Very much so, yes
>>
>>155130028
I think it was more he thought he could use them for the story and no one would care. But turns out DC did in fact care about Captain Atom's penis being on display.
>>
>>155130258
dont ask
>>
>>155129206
I would have kept the “end of life” team on the book but told them to make it less like the tv show and just have it be Peacemaker brutally killing (original)weirdo villains every few issues
>>
>>155130386
how many seasons of TV does Peacemaker need?

Lanterns was only greenlit for one season and basically treated as a mini series event that could get renewed if its successful

I like the approach of treating the TV shows like stand alone mini series, where each "season" is its own adventure. Not unlike trade paperbacks. It makes for a tighter story and is more sustainable to keep up with as a fan.

What is it with you contrarians? You don't even watch or read this stuff but you just want *quantity* as the only benchmark of success. There needs to be 100 episodes of Peacemaker, and 100 episodes of half a dozen other DC characters... just like how B and C lister apparently needs an ongoing floppy running for 60 issues minimum. It's just clutter. You don't even enjoy it, you just want clutter clogging the shelves.

Beside isn't Peacemaker / the Salvation stuff supposed to play into the next Superman movie?

And the show clearly set up Checkmate as the direction Gunn wants to take it. If "Waller" is not happening, he's probably retooled it so Checkmate is the "spy show" and will feature PEacemaker as a character... ya know, like how it was in Kupperberg's long running comic.

But you wouldn't know that bc you're a depressed casual contrarian

Holy cope lmao

based
>>
>>155138382
You're shaking. Are you okay?
>>
>>155130386
No they didn't? There were never plans for a third season why are you lying anon
>>
>>155138926
I'm gonna go have a picnic anon. Cheers. It's nice out.
>>
I'm surprised they didn't give him a cartoon and a videogame before Wonder Woman just because he was niche popular for 5 minutes
>>
>>155139597
A beat 'em up with Peacemaker and Vigilante would've been pretty easy to whip together and get out there, I think. Or maybe a boomer shooter where you get a few different guns and the rest of the slots are different helmet powers.
>>
>>155129206
What hype lmao
>>
>>155133223
That Garth Ennis oneshot was actually great unlike the live action crap.
>>
>>155129485
A shill is more a company bootlicker.
I doubt people who like Peacemaker are all shills , more like fanboys of Gunn
>>
>>155133029
It was more that I had very high expectations, especially when I found out that it was heralding the reboot. S1 felt like an actual season of an actual television show, with a real ending. But that's just it. Peacemaker S2 merely felt like a disjointed ignition sequence for the Gunnverse. And the worst part was, they simply threw Cena into an alternate dimension and called it a day.

What's truly strange is that Economos, of all people, turned out to be the most satisfying part of the season.
