To be fair the real reason they should have cut that movie is because a Red Lotus origin story is not worth a movie. Say what you will about the Aang movie being useless, but Aang getting over his guilt for abandoning his tribe makes more sense than prequel for a faction nobody cares about. Rest assured if the Red Lotus was a hugely popular faction that was as big as the Empire of Star Wars, they would have made it, regardless of how political it is or not. They didn't because it wasn't profitable.Seven Havens will probably also have political and dark moments, but that got made because Paramount saw a new series as more profitable than a fucking Red Lotus movie.
