>Great character designs, boring premise.
This can work if it's juicy
>>
how is this different from strawberry vampire?
both have a school setting
>>
So we're calling all animated shorts "pilots" now?
>>
>>155131325
If that's what the creator calls them. yes
>>
>>155131126
Another gen-Z who never went through life and never watched cartoons nor read books in her life.
Probably an ESL third worlder too.

>Making MSPaint drawings of Runescape instead of actual Runescape videos.
Fucking idiot. This is why I don't hang out with people whos' last name is Purdy. Fucking retard.
Am I the only faggot in the world who had nothing but imaginative and intelligent women around him instead of these unfeminine spEDs who are either smelly anorexic retard or smelly obese retards? These retards have no sense of ridiculousness and no standards.
>>

95% of people made actual 3D Runescape videos with cool songs and using the actual 3D models and in-game footage.

Meawnhile there were the 5% of DeviantArt MsPaint autists and of those autists the 0.05% happened to be jewish nepotistic entire turds like Pendletton Ward and Rebecca Sugar and CN hired those turds and tards.

Bring back the 95%. Give the art in the hands of the 95%. Bring art back in the hands of the 95%

NO I think this is made by a millennial since this is high school life on the late 2000s.
>>
>>155131448
This is awesome and you're a faggot

>>155131448
Their oldest video is from 18 years ago. The highest age they could have been to qualify as Gen Z was 11.

I absolutely think this is someone in their mid 30s
>>
>>155131652
>>155131612
The gay lame 5% side of the 2000s and millennials.

Imagine playing Runescape but NO you can't use the 3D Runescape assets cause you're an autistic egocentric woman who absolutely needs to show off her "artistic" skills through fucking PAINT of all things.
Everyone is making Runescape music videos and stories through the use of Runescape, but naaah you have to be a piece of shit and use Paint to boost your AI-tier ego instead of respecting the source material.

She should have stuck with playing Puzzle Pirates instead, but that game is deceptively hard compared to Runescape even if PP attracts more women due to its sandbox quality and farming for items to put in your shack I mean mansion.
>>
Quite incredible that this woman is likely 35 minimum but this comes across completely as a Gen Z/Alpha fake nostalgia piece. What TTGO does to a soul.
>>
>>155131799
I am more just surprised this is an almost middle aged person with very little animation credits but this turned out pretty well visually.
>>
>>155131214
>great character designs
Its fucking boring.
Its another shitty indie cartoon that tries to be related but just ends up looking like every other indie cartoon in the process.

This feels strangely like it was written by AI and the voices don't help. The dialogue has remnants of this long meandering overdescriptiveness that story generators are prone to derail into.

I watched the whole thing.
Pros:
- I do think the characters have potential.
- I do like the fact that the cast is tolerable enough that I don't want to strangle any one of them. A lot of cartoons have annoying and awful characters in their cast. These guys aren't bangers, but they aren't dreadful either.
- The art style is fine.
- I could see what they were going for.

Cons:
- This plot felt like a second draft. They had the basic message of what they wanted to do. They had some of the jokes down and the writing, but they were missing just those zingers and punches.
- Another problem I have is the animation. If this were a web comic, I'd be totally fine with it, but since it's an animation, outside of a few scenes, I felt this was a bit too static. If this were a storyboard, I don't think the viewers would lose anything. I'm not asking for Richard Williams-level animation where the characters are gestating wildly, but I feel there should have been more motion. I will note that I really do like that the hairs aren't static themselves, and the way they're animated makes them feel like they're less like plastic stuck to a character's head and actually like hair. I like that.
- This cartoon made me realize how important background music is. I'm not against the concept of a cartoon having no background music, but the audio is so acoustically boring that I feel a bit of music to help set the tone would help.
- Also, their backgrounds are forgettable. They do their job, but I feel there's something that could have been done to help them stand out a bit more. It's like almost any scene could have happened anywhere in the school, barring a few a handful of scenes, noting that those handful of scenes are also the scenes with the most animation.
Overall, I give this a 6.9 out of 10. There's something preventing me from giving this a solid 7, but I like it enough not to just give it a 6
>>
>>155131325

Explains a lot, I knew a girl from my school who brought Runescape on a flash drive and played it on the computers but nobody even the nerdy guys wanted to play with her.

Again explains a lot.

It's not for me, so I'll leave it at that.

>>
>>155131799
It's the same reason why Pendleton Ward and Rebecca Sugar and many other millennials are 39+ , but they don't have the 90s and 2000s style.
They're the 1-4% of faggots that were lame back then and are lame as hell now, just like George RR Martin who had no success in the 90s cause people had standards back then, but he had success in the 2010s where everyone enjoys depressive primitive soap opera stuff instead of entertaining journeys and cool heroes. And unfortunately we have A LOT of traitorious millennials that unironically enjoy 2010s content over 2000s and 90s content, we call them tasteless traitors. They're millennial traitors who got infected by the gen-Zombie virus.

>>155131126
It's like I'm watching Ed's World without the cool zombie shit nor the funsies nor the supernatural shit. It feels like rule63 Ed's World made in the 2010s

>>155137013
>Look!! look!! 4% of millennials have the same tastes as gen-Z
Not beating the allegations.
>Look!! an entire 10% of millennials
Congratulations, you infected them.

>written, directed and animated by Purdy
Have writer/artist team-ups gone out of fashion? I get that writing is "easy" compared to art because you don't have to destroy your wrist and your free time practicing 24/7, but it's not trivial and it's clearly needed.

I like the art style, but the animation is very stiff and that's the most stilted and least believable high schooler dialog I've heard in my life.

Blondie with gold-trimmed blue dragonhide for me.

Why couldn't 2000s kids back then be arsed to download Photoshop or any program that wasn't literally XP Paint?

Do anons think writers are free? Especially good ones?
Why did nobody care about muh writers back in the 2000s/10s era of internet animation. Eddsworld was written like shit

BORING
>>
>>155137984
No but they're much cheaper than artists. Also in the sense of being much easier to include in a collab. It's writers without art skills who are SOL.

I just want the 90s/2000s industry back. I don't actually give a shit about indie animation. If the industry bounced back to those levels I'd never watch a YouTube animation again
Is this too much to ask?
>>
>>155138247
Kek
Most writers working for pay are expecting union rates. They're substantially harder to get than artists in my experience.
Art can be a hobby, screenwriting isn't. Maybe the best you'll be able to get is someone who writes their own comics or fanfiction but tv writers aren't interested in working on some no budget indie cartoon. They'll legitimately get angry if you ask to collaborate even if paid
>>
File: FhFczWAXEAYR5vO.jpg (62 KB, 960x948)
62 KB JPG
>>155138275
It's shocking how little anons know about the creative world. They seem to just think cartoons come from thin air and writers will work on some amateur project.
Point me to where I can find good or even intermediate screen writers (who know how to format a screenplay) willing to collab on a budget and I will kiss you on the mouth
>>
>>155138275
Paying someone to write for you is not a collab.
>>
>>155138302
Retard
You have to pay to get them to collab
Do you think these writers are going to be interested in working on your project for free? Do you have any idea how much this shit costs? These writers aren't your fucking friends and even if they were they'd want payment for their time
>>
File: any_other_squidwards.jpg (61 KB, 600x600)

>>155138324
Why do you need to pay people to work on a fucking indie cartoon?
>>
>>155138324
>These writers aren't your fucking friends
Then make some friends. If someone's working on *your* project because *you're* paying them, that's not a collab.
>>
>>155138302
collab is short of collaboration which means "the action of working with someone to produce something:"
>>
>>155138331
Are anons here really this retarded when it comes to indie animation?

In an artistic context it has the implication of coequal artistic contribution. If a studio hires you and to do what you're told, that's not really collaboration.

>>155138365

"What a waste of my time... this is the best they have to offer us? Only the characters are worth saving; they have a good design... that's about all the good there is. The main plot is so boring, it’s a sleeping pill; there’s no humor, nothing draws your attention to the outcome of things. Literally, other crappy series that tried to be the successor to Family Guy managed to catch my attention for 0.1 seconds. They had 'humor'—something, even if it was just a particle of humor. This has nothing: it's soulless, unfunny... it’s not even garbage, because at least garbage would be something. This is nothing; emptiness is the concept of zero made into animation. I’ll put it to you more clearly: look for a job in something else, because as a series writer, you'll starve."

probably because the people making them are basing them off personal experiences they had in the mid 2000s when things weren't shit yet. hell people who weren't even alive during the 90s make media based in the 90s, and naturally, they get everything wrong
