How do you think Genndy will be able to pull off a good, faithful Conan adaptation? There's problems that come with the territory.>Adapt the Howard stories or do an original story?>If you go with an adaptation, do you include the expanded stories from the other authors?>Do you portray the stories in the order than Howard wrote them or do you try to arrange them in some kind of chronological order within the story? If the first, how do you make that make sense? Perhaps Conan telling stories to his chronicler like Howard imagined? If the latter, how do you decide which order and which of the expanded non-Howard stories to adapt, since they largely serve to fill in the gaps of Conan's life. But also there's issues that might come up in the modern media atmosphere.>Conan is very sexually forward and makes his very quickly makes his affections known to any woman he's interested in.>Conan's love interests are pretty much all white and conventionally attractive.>Conan doesn't have a single, consistent love interest throughout his stories, but more like a series of flings with multiple women.>Conan is the only consistent character in all his stories. >The Hyborian Age is one of distinctive and coherent ethnic groups. There's actually a wide variety of diverse ethnicity, but they aren't portrayed as a perfect rainbow of all ethnicities living in perfect harmony and proportion with each other.>There are actually quite a few female warriors and leaders, but they are generally portrayed as exceptional individuals and are not common. This is not a setting where, for instance, half the members of Conan's mercenary company could be female.>A significant number of the Conan stories are based around Conan saving a damsel in distress.>Several Conan stories don't have any minorities in them at all.>Several Conan stories don't have women in them at all.>Even if you edited out all mentions of race, there's still some imagery that people might complain about.
>>155131619it is tricky indeed.>conan is forward sexuallyI say change it so the women throw themselves at him. still a male fantasy, but not an icky one where the male does the throwing>all white and attractivethrow in the tall african chick from the movie>series of flingsthat actually helps TV. have you seen TV? >>155131754Plus you can argue she put a spell on him to chase her not realizing he could actually catch her.
>>155131754She mind controlled him into nearly raping herself, and Conan was disgusted by the whole ordeal
>>155131649>I say change it so the women throw themselves at him. still a male fantasy, but not an icky one where the male does the throwingYou never read Conan. That's literally what happens.
>>155131985>Queen of the Black CoastJUST the Queen of the Black Coast? I could see making two episodes out of it, but you're definitely going to be squeezing a lot of blood out of that stone to get a whole season out it. It's not Red Nails. Maybe he's planning to put in a bunch of original stories during the period when Conan is supposed to be sailing around with Belit?
Genndy has a charming lack of self-consciousness, a trait that he shares with Howard himself. I think he really is the best living artist to pull off a a spiritually faithful adaptation of Howard's work.
>>155132476Considering across the black river, Howard did have it, a bit too much in fact
>>155131649>>155132283Women definitely throw themselves at Conan, but Conan isn't some painfully shy or oblivious doofus who waits for women to approach him. He makes his interest pretty obvious right away, either through body language or just outright saying so. It's usually Conan making the first advance. And I'm not sure the modern media likes that so much. Maybe not so much of a problem with Queen of the Black Coast since Belit basically DOES jump Conan's bones in that story, but if they try to adapt anything else...
>>155132499He maybe had a certain type of self consciousness but he combined it with a lack of neuroticism that allowed him to throw himself into writing his stories with no shame holding him back. I've sensed the same quality in Genndy's work.
>>155131993>>155132110I'm glad I'm not the only one who reads it this way, i feel like the entire point is that she ensorcells men to chase her unto death on the tundra.
>>155132399It's a big run in the comics, I'm wondering if they are going to take inspiration from them. Which would be good, the comics are tight.
>>155131619I hope he goes crazy with it and gives Conan a tiger lady wife
>>155132739You're going to be severely disappointed
>>155132399Queen of the Black coast probably covers the widest period of time in any of the stories. He was with her for a good while. The old comics even stretched it out for material.
>>155131754I can't find a good pic of the splash page but I love the Barry Windsor Smith version of this story
>>155131754>>155132771She was enchanting him with a spell. It back fired.
I has the books so idc about being faithfull.Just do weird episodic adventures like Sam Jack and Primal but don't Focus on a bigger narrative
>>155132807I'm wonder if it's a framing device. Though QoTBC is one of the earlier stories so that might be limiting.
>>155131724>shitshow when they haven't shown anything yetur fake n gay
>>155131619Use the framing device but original adventures would.be more fun, the best thing about pulp heroes is that they're pretty flexible when it comes to what you can do when adapting.
I want to see more character designs. Especially how they draw Belit. For that matter I wonder how they'll pronounce it. Always been a debate that. I tend to favor BAY LIT.
Queen of the Black Coast is an interesting choice for these days. It's not Conan's most HEROIC outing being a pirate and all and it's also not, how to put it, the most culturally sensitive by 2026 standards. Which I'm not complaining about or criticizing mind but if they go for a more authentic adaptation it's interesting.
>>155132476What do you mean by that?
They were going to make a Red Nails movie a long while back now. Bit of a shame it never came out. Ron Pearlman was gonna be Conan like he was in some of the games. I still read Conan that way.
>>155133300They can solve most of the Current Year sensitivity issues just by making both the pirates and their victims a little more diverse. It's not like their race was a major plot point in the original story anyway. Belit herself is kind of the dominant partner in her relationship with Conan which actually fits well with modern sensibilities.
>>155134576I feel like it hammers on the fact the she's a white chick and her crew are all the blackest of black dudes, but it's been a while since I read it.
>>155131619At the same time I think Genndy has the track record to both respect the original work and have enough creative control to stick to it.
>>155134615I fully expect them to tan her up a bit.
>>155134615It hammers on that for like one paragraph to emphasize how exotic Belit is and how outlandish the whole situation is, but once the plot gets rolling the race of the crew stops mattering.
>>155131619He should just say "fuck it" and portray Conan as Conan. Let the chips fall where they may.
>>155134682I don't think Conan is really the controversial figure you think he is
>>155134689>Strong masculine figure>Not controversialLeftoids, wokies and feminists hate masculinity and any representation of strong men (who aren't masturbating feminist foid egos). you can infer from there with the current culturally trajectory of emasculated men.
>>155134674Yeah, you're probably right. The only story that I found like, actually kinda racist was the one where he rescued the white chick from the tribal Africans. Every other story is honestly pretty fucking tame, especially considering the time.
>>155134737>REEEEEEEE!Shush, the adults are talking.
>>155134758No.
>>155134682One of the things that I'm apprehensive about is that Conan isn't a big therapy fag struggling with his trauma and his depression and his father not loving him enough or whatever and the modern writing environment is such that I think many people think that makes him a bad character.
>>155134828Why are you replying to yourself?
>>155134828>>155134783>>155134737let's actually let something become a problem before we start shitting ourselves. We don't have a lot to go on but the image is very Frazetta style.
>>155131619Since it's Genndy and he seems to be a huge fan, I have way more faith than pretty much anybody else who would be attached to the project
>>155134737The dynamic between Conan and Belit in the original story is pretty neat. She's his boss basically and he respects her authority, and she's both evil and slightly insane, but she respects him and never emasculates him or steals his thunder when it's time for him to step into the limelight and do cool protagonist shit. It's like a weird inverse of a toxic relationship where they're really good for each other but it comes at the expense of all the hapless innocent people around them. I'm curious to see if Genndy can pull it off and how people will react to it.
I've been reading a lot of the comics. On the Dark Horse run. It's really good.
>>155134924Same. He also has a strong enough reputation, I think, to probably be given a lot of creative control and/or lack of executive interference
How is this even being broadcast? Adult Swim? Primal got away with a lot violence wise but there probably won't be tits.
Right, so Conan. E's that's Barbarian fella. Revear slayer, thief whatever. He's robbing this bloke's house and gets tossed into this crazy maze of traps and stuff, only the owner of the place, e's in there wit em. The one controlling all those gadgets and what have you, he's this big monkeh fella.
You should only adapt the official Howard stories. Each story should be roughly 80-100 minutes in total allowing for 4-5 episodes per story.Focus on adventure stories that start after he was betrayed and lost his kingdom. Have a couple of flashbacks to his time as king as the connecting narrative between stories and slowly let the audience piece together what has happened.Do the Elephant's Heart story for sure and maybe the one that starts with Conan and some lady stranded in the desert and they stumble on a cult or something.
>>155135277Red Nails, sir. If you're going to advocate the originals you can at least know them.
>>155131619Consider that Samurai Jack didn't have most of the things you listed either and it did fine.
>>155134889Primal's ending is not reassuring. Which was already pretty parallel to Conan-like and it felt like Genndy fumbled the bag at the last parts of the series. The series shined when it was exploring the world silently without the other humans, and when they did show up, the mystery and mystique of Primal's world crumbled way too fast. >>155134928I doubt it, and I'd rather you not make the implied inbetween lines argument that Conan would be a nu-male feminist ally either, simply because he was a gentlemen/bachelor wooing women and princesses. There's a big difference between that of classical masculinity that sometimes shows through Howard's writings of the day of cultural gentlemanly courting back in the 1940s via popular media of the time, mixed with a wicked and cruel proto-historical world of taking a woman by the waist and claiming her after rescuing her. Because I've heard that argument that Conan was secretly a feminist ally shit in other discussions simple because he was a (barbarian) gentleman/hero archtype at times.
>>155135277>Elephant's HeartThat or the Slithering Shadow, or The Scarlet Citadel. But the Elephant's Heart would maybe be too far out there. It almost borderlines on something like the Dark Crystal.
>>155135940>Primal's ending is not reassuring.Gendy always struggled with endings. Which probably won't be an issue here because Conan doesn't really have or need one. Frankly I don't think he ever really intended one for Jack either.
>>155135965>>155135277It's The Tower of the Elephant! > But the Elephant's Heart would maybe be too far out there. That's what makes it so great. It's so unlike what people think Conan is.
>>155134928>>155135940I meant to add too, that I don't think including Queen of the Black Coast would be wise, since the pirating stories are a speed bump/interruption in the series and general vibe of loose novellas of Howard's works, and Howard's best writings were when Conan was being a barbarian in strange situations. Maybe as a pirate, but the Queen of the Black Coast wasn't his stronger story and read more like Howard was playing with the idea of pirate's instead.I highly doubt Genndy could pull it off, and I think if he tried, it would sink the series asap. Conan is at his best narrative wise when he's a wandering warrior. Much like Primal, the show begins to fall apart when the plot of Mira advances past a certain point, and the spotlight is shifts and is taken away from Spear and focuses on the side characters. Then they just sink it with Spear dying off.I think Conan is going to be best if it plays a similar path to Primal, and stays FAR away from the side characters. >>155136006I think leaving the ending open to interpretation is better than just something solid is better for Conan. Since Conan is basically a wandering warrior, and if you conclude he retires, or marries, or whatever, the magic or soul of Conan is kind of crushed. >Frankly I don't think he ever really intended one for Jack either.I feel like Jack was going to end at some point though, it progressed. But I think Conan is different in this regard, there is no big major evil bad guy to defeat and save the world, Conan just kind of wanders around, being many different things, warrior, king, pirate, caravaner, mercenary, thief, etc. >>155136025Yeah, but your average normie, NPC types can't handle it, or it would be too far out there. I'd like to see it, since it's essentially an inter-dimensional elephant like entity being abused for power and tortured and then being freed, but I think Genndy does better with violence/action than nuance and slowing down a plot.
>>155136080You have boring tastes and boring critical opinions.
>>155136178You're an NPC normie, that's why.
>>155136255Nice deflection. You obviously know nothing about Conan. Fuck off, please.
>>155131619>howard or originalboth>include expanded stories with other authorsyes>in order howard or arrangearrange and occasionally have a flashback that drops lore>but what about modern media?fuck that shit. let him be forward, let his love interests be white. if you want something else, have red sonja in it sleeping with all kinds of beautiful women>no consistent love interest, has flingsperfect. keep it that, way, don't deviate from conan stories too much>consistentyes. precisely.>rainbow of ethnicitiesstop worrying about that shit>there's not a setting where half could be femalefine. let red sonja's fiddle with that>saving a damsel in distressthis isn't a problem>don't have minoritesred sonja can do that>dont' have women at allred sonja>people might complainlet them
>>155131619What's with the sudden name change for Primal?
>>155136080Genndy can do both
>>155135940>the mystery and mystique of Primal's world crumbled way too fast.It just reframed the setting from prehistoric fantasy to an anachronistic kitchen sink of various time periods and genres, the latter is what Conan already pioneered.
>>155135277>>155135304I think he's talking about The Slithering Shadow/Xuthal of the Dusk
>>155135277>You should only adapt the official Howard stories. Each story should be roughly 80-100 minutes in total allowing for 4-5 episodes per story.Aren't the short stories only 20-40 pages long?
>>155137795It depends on the story. Some are short like that, some are basically novellas (Beyond the Black River/Red Nails)
>>155136539>stop worrying about that shitIt's not consistent with the world of the Hyborian Age.

>>155138391>>155138405Oh and by the way to add on to what I said, I do in fact accept your concession.
>>155138391Literally any person who still thinks woke diversity is the only diversity in existence or who refuses to accept not everything needs to be diverse. Executives, creatives, weird fans that make shit like tranny Spider-Man go viral, all of them are they
>>155131649>I say change it so the women throw themselves at him. They already do. A Queen rejects him once for class reasons and he gets a bit butthurt about it but that's all. He does try to rape a drmigoddess, but she hypnotized him to try so her brothers could murder him.Otherwise all the other women came to him quite willingly or responded positively to his advances. Conan is statistically more likely to reject a beautiful woman than the other way around.
>>155131762Genndy doesn't have trannies hovering over his shoulder forcing him to pozz what he makes. A major story arc of Primal ends with a strong black queen being thrown helpless and screaming to a brutal death hundreds of feet below, pulverizing his bones and organs. Everything he has made has had hot women in it if he had any place to put them. It'll be fine. And if it isn't, it'll be him and his team to blame.
>>155138477>a strong black queen being thrown helpless and screaming to a brutal death hundreds of feet below
>>155134928Belit can't emasculate Conan without destroying what she loves in him. Conan can't tame her will and ferocity without doing the same. They definitely have a toxic relationship - just for anyone who doesn't work for them, rather than each other.Conan's villainous acts as a pirate make up a huge part of his later fame and infamy, leading to more than one crew spontaneously joining him and at least one blood feud that ends in a failed assassination attempt. One wonders what Conan's life might have become without Belit.
>>155135257Come off it!
>>155135940It's worth pointing out that Howard himself clearly did like strong, assertive, athletic women going by his life and what he wrote. The likes of Red Sonya of Rogatino or Dark Agnes de Chastillon stand out. Of course there's Belit and Valeria. If he was alive today he'd probably be NEED TOMBOY posting.
>>155131619Did you seriously ask ChatGPT to generate a list of potentially sensitive areas of Conan media and then reformat it to start this thread?Do better, OP.
>>155138559>AI derangement syndrome
>>155138566It's profoundly obvious that OP's list was written by an LLM, my guy.
>>155138600It literally contains a mistake, dumbass>Conan is very sexually forward and makes his very quickly makes his affections known to any woman he's interested in.An LLM doesn't try to edit a sentence and fuck it up.

>>155138632LLMs make mistakes all the time, dipshit. Also, I said OP *reformatted* the list generated by the LLM. OP fucked up copying and pasting the output when making the thread. Search deep within your clown heart. You know I'm right.
>>155138653>Also, I said OP *reformatted* the list generated by the LLM.>OP fucked up copying and pasting the output when making the thread. Which one are you going with because it can't be both.
>>155138690You don't think the action of "reformatting" can include "copying", "pasting", or "editing"?They didn't copy the whole list output as one block of text. They copied parts piecemeal and cobbled the LLM output back together and made mistakes while doing it. At this point I assume you have to be OP trying to save face and get bumps at the same time. Which wouldn't be that sad if you weren't trying to pretend a computer algorithm didn't write your thread topic for you.
>>155138732You either think it was edited or paraphrased from an LLM, or you think it was a copy paste. You don't mess up a copy paste in the middle of a fucking sentence. This is grasping at straws to justify your AI paranoia because you don't like lists and have convinced yourself that humans aren't capable of making lists only AI.
Never watched another Genndy show. Is Primal worth watching?
>>155131619i will only be watching this if there are nubile bruce timm damsels in it
>>155138904>You don't mess up a copy paste in the middle of a fucking sentenceOh, where do people typically mess up copying and pasting, then, genius? Only at the starts and ends? MoronJust admit you're largely devoid of independent thought and need computers to do the heavy lifting for you. Calling it "AI paranoia" is cope when it's so painfully obvious the OP is just reformatted LLM output. I wouldn't even complain if you just admitted you're an ESL using an LLM to sound more natural. But to pretend like the OP wasn't written by an LLM is being intentionally obtuse. If you don't want to get called out for using an LLM to write your posts, just don't use an LLM to write your posts.
Genndy said in an interview that he considered Primal to be his purest work (no dialogue, pulp adventures, raw violence) so it's interesting that everything he's been working on since then has been in the same vein like that HOTD spinoff prequel about Corlys sailing and travel to exotic locations outside Westeros and now an actual Conan series.Of course this means Unicorn Warriors Eternal S2 was taken to the back of an alley and shot dead.
>>155138935Yeah, it's like Samurai Jack if it was good.
>>155139004>Oh, where do people typically mess up copying and pasting, then, genius? Only at the starts and ends?If you fuck up a copy paste, it's because you copy pasted something that you didn't intend. Links, numbers, etc, or if you accidentally didn't copy paste all of it. So yes, either in the beginning or the end, with the copy paste either beginning mid-sentence or ending mid-sentence. It's not going to be in the middle of a sentence in the middle of the shit you're copy pasting. It's AI paranoia when you start accusing anything and everything of being AI up to and including things with blatant marks of them being human-made, such as spelling and grammatical errors.
>>155139142>It's AI paranoia when you start accusing anything and everything of being AI I accused exactly one post of being AI. You have invented a strawman and attacked that instead of actually addressing my points.>up to and including things with blatant marks of them being human-made, such as spelling and grammatical errors. The only thing human-made in OP is the fuckups in copying and pasting the LLM output. They cut and paste a bunch of strings output by an LLM and made mistakes while putting together the OP text. Simple as.I would say it's concerning that you are completely unable to notice really obvious signs of AI/LLM/genslop, but we both know posting in this thread is the most important thing you'll do today. So at least your ignorance won't impact much
>>155138454>A Queen rejects him once for class reasonsWas that Black Collosus or A Witch Shall Be Born?
>>155131619You're right, OP! These are great points. I, too, have been brainstorming some of the difficulties that might be presented by adapting a story such as Conan the Barbarian for more modern, diverse audiences.>Hypermasculinity: Conan’s strength, aggression, and sexual dominance can reinforce narrow ideas about manhood. A modern version would need to give him vulnerability, emotional range, and nonviolent skills.>Sexualized women: Women are often portrayed as damsels, victims, prizes, or romantic rewards. They would need independent goals, authority, and relationships not centered on Conan.>Racial and cultural stereotypes: The setting can divide people into “civilized” and “barbaric” groups while borrowing from real-world cultures. Adaptors would need to avoid exoticism, caricature, and colonial assumptions.>Limited representation: Women, queer people, disabled characters, and people from varied cultures may be underrepresented. New characters should have agency rather than serve as tokens or sidekicks.>Religious stereotypes: Evil cults and foreign gods could unintentionally resemble real-world religions or cultures, especially if they are depicted as uniformly irrational or savage.>Cultural appropriation: Costumes, accents, names, and mythologies inspired by real cultures could become shallow visual shorthand for “exotic” or “evil.”>Balancing authenticity and inclusion: Preserving Conan’s harsh, pulpy identity while making the world welcoming to a broader audience would be a major tonal challenge. A successful adaptation would not need to erase Conan’s brutality, outsider identity, or pulpy fantasy roots. It would need to make those traits objects of examination rather than unquestioned virtues, while ensuring that the wider world is populated by people who possess their own agency, cultures, and narratives.
>>155139194>>155139441You have literally no reason to believe that this is AI other than its a list>Does an AI prompt>It does the whole thing in it unironic AI corpo speak>Doesn't make mistakesBut I guess they're both lists so you got the OP since only AI can make lists.Paranoia over AI has left you completely deranged.
>>155139501Your argument boils down to “you can’t prove it’s AI because it made a list,” which is about as intellectually rigorous as declaring a photocopier human because it reproduced a paragraph. Nobody is claiming that lists are exclusive to AI; they’re pointing out the pileup of familiar tells: sterile corporate phrasing, unnaturally uniform structure, broadly accurate punctuation and grammar, and the conspicuous absence of an actual human voice. You’re not defending the post. You’re pretending that circumstantial evidence doesn’t exist unless it comes with a signed confession from the chatbot. Calling people “deranged” because they recognize an extremely obvious writing pattern isn’t skepticism. It’s just knee-jerk defensiveness dressed up as critical thinking.
>>155138454My favorite one is where a Queen offers him sex in return for a job, and he's offended, and basically says "No, you can pay me gold, women basically throw themselves at me."

AI has fried your brain.
>>155131619I don't foresee any issues. Have you even read many RE Howard stories, OP, or are you just here to preemptively whinge about a show that isn't even out yet?
>>155139739I could absolutely see there being issues. Modern Hollywood has the uncanny knack of taking the most easily adapted works of all time and still fucking them up in a multitude of ways. Not that I think Genndy himself would make these mistakes, but he still works in that environment.
>>155139846I don't know Wheel of Time at all, but pretty sure we don't have to worry about Conan being displaced as the main character of a Conan the Barbarian TV show.
>>155140101My point is more that modern Hollywood can fuck things up in ways that you couldn't even comprehend until you see it. The Wheel of Time is literally written like Robert Jordan expected it to be adapted into a TV series. They had a home run laid out for them and still struck out because they shoved the bat up their assholes. I would never underestimate the modern media's ability to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.
>>155133258Most likely the base pronunciation will be Be-he-lit (Be with a short e, He with a short e, and lit pronounced leet). In common speech it will quickly morph to your form, or close to it.

>>155135304I was talking about The Slithering Shadow. I listened to mostly full collection on an audiobook and the titles melded into one another so I know a number of the stories but not by name.>>155137795The stories are usually pretty light on combat choreography. I envision a series being fairly dialogue light and instead focused primarily on the action. A lot of the stories are separated into pretty neatly divided 'episodic' segments. Using The Tower of the Elephant as an example:>1st episode is Conan asking about the tower in a bar, little bit of exposition that culminates in the barroom brawl>2nd episode is Conan going over the walls and encountering the other thief. They fight some lions, sneak around etc...>3rd episode starts with the other thief being killed mysteriously. Conan travels alone and fights a spider. Episode ends with him finding the elephant and getting some exposition>4th episode is the actual confrontation with the wizard and the self-destruct sequence. Maybe throw in some traps or other challenges on the way to the wizard for a bit more action.I think most stories could get a clean 4 episodes out of them if you expanded combat/fight scenes. Maybe 60-80 minutes would be better (I'm assuming roughly 20 minutes per episode after getting rid of commercials and opening/ending credits)>>155140101Like He-Man being displaced as the main character of He-Man? Possibly by being murdered in the opening episode? Glad THAT'S never happened
>>155131619it won't be faithful. conan is gonna get rescued or beaten up by girlbosses every episode.you never see a woman get rescued by a man but man constnatly rescued by woman.while the setting while feature european or middle eastern inspired kingdoms the people will mostly be african
>>155141140This is where I'd put my money with how it turns out. It's going to be some bullshit cultural political statement and humiliation ritualism.

>>155141315Why do liberals hate that people recognize trends and patterns? Like genuinely what is wrong with speculating that they will shoehorn in woke bullshit when that has been so prevalent in basically everything the past 8-10 years? Seriously explain why you have a problem with fans of a property having legitimate concerns about a modern adaptations
>>155141351>Why do liberals hate that people recognize trends and patterns? He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.
>>155141351>Like genuinely what is wrong with speculating that they will shoehorn in woke bullshit when that has been so prevalent in basically everything the past 8-10 years?Because they are constantly trying to gaslight everyone that their intentional actions are just by happen-chance, and if that's not the case, they just call you a bigot for not swallowing their political cult pill.>Seriously explain why you have a problem with fans of a property having legitimate concerns about a modern adaptationsBecause they're not interested in storytelling nor entertainment. They're interested in cultural-political messaging and activism. They are filled with schadenfreude and are oikophobiacs and are politically cult-like in that any questioning of the politics makes you essentially the worse thing imaginable to the immediate extreme. Which is a fascistic Hitler-like entity, literally, they claim everyone's a secret Nazi who doesn't cow-tail to their beliefs. How and why do you think Kirk died? >"If you don't follow our political beliefs, you are literally a Nazi fascistic scum"And then they assassinate you, and hail Saint George Floyd as some civil rights activist when that is essentially what Kirk was at his core. There's a reason everything leftists touch withers and fails. Education, media, entertainment, gaming, anything, it all goes to shit. They're the inverse of King Midus, instead of gold it all turns to stinking shit.
>>155138477I'm saying you're not getting episodic storytelling where there's 48 episode seasons anymore, so there's no space to just be doing "this episode, he gets this different girl". Frasier, Picard, Seinfeld got to have constant different romantic interests because they were episodic- here, you're probably getting one serialised 8 episode season.

>>155141993? I just read that one, Black Colossus, it ended with Conan saving her from the wizard and then fucking her in the same room
>>155141993>>155142601He might be thinking about People of the Black Circle where the girl goes back to her people and Conan his but the way she and Conan leave off is really flirty.
>>155141351Because it sounds tiresome and masochistic to bitch about what a cartoon may or may not be like for all the many months before it's released based on nothing but your own assumptions and biases. Why do you think anyone who doesn't respect you is a "liberal"?
>>155140810To be fair that is pretty accurate to the books, Geralt stops being the main character and most of the actual plot gets driven by Ciri.
>>155143573I'm pretty sure Geralt never takes the back stage to fucking Yennefer.
Adapt the damn stories. Thats all Genndy has to do.
>>155133258Bay lit is how I've been pronouncing it. I'll be mildly unhappy if they say bellit or baleet.
>>155143371>based on your own assumptions and biasesAnd also lots of precedent, business practices, statements from media heads, etc...>Why do you think anyone who doesn't respect you is a "liberal"?Actually I just think that anyone who acts like a disingenuous kike is a "liberal", the respect or lack thereof has nothing to do with it.>Why do people get paid to predict that the weather in December is going to be colder than it is now in August based on nothing but their own assumptions and biases? That's how silly you sound.
>>155143914I think the show expanded on Yennifer because she is part of the main trio but that awkwardly pushes Geralt, who already didn't do much in the source material, further away. But I think it's a problem inherent with The Witcher books, that the titular witcher doesn't actually do much witchering (Geralt doesn't kill a single monster beyond Blood of Elves and it's all about the human condition and how men are the real monsters from there).
>>155144974>Geralt doesn't kill a single monster beyond Blood of Elves and it's all about the human condition and how men are the real monsters from there).Huh. Kind of feel a lot less like picking those books up now. They're sitting there in my amazon cart. I'm probably gonna pass now if it's not actually about monster killing.
>>155144974Everyone I know who reads the Witcher complains about the later books, though. People want the books to be about the Witcher himself, not Ciri, and they want him to kill monsters. Making the books about Ciri and politics seems like universally accepted blunder.
>>155144974>>155146048Reading them now and can confirm. However, I saw an interview with the author some time ago where he talked about how he wanted part of it to be about freewill and how Geralt, Yennifer, and Ciri are all trying to have freewill vs fate and how certain key moments in their life were decided by others so it's not as bad for me I think. However, I still think the games are the better story overall for proper Witcher deeds.
