A room with a moose

A lot of this show really only worked because of the delivery. Like this isn't funny when you read it but I can imagine Zim saying it and it makes me laugh.
>>
>>155132224
Disagreed. Reading it isn't funny. Hearing Zim saying is only kinda funny. What's REALLY funny is the sheer fucking drama of all the camera shots of the moose and Dib falling apart in abject terror watching it eat nuts. It's absurd in its own right, it's well-performed, and it leaves enough to fill in the gaps.

But like for real, moose will fuck you up. They injure more people than bears.
>>
>>155132179
Mooses are genuinely terrifying and Dib not realizing it until one started to eat some walnuts was kind of accurate. Most people don't realize that Meese will completely rape your ass.
>>
>>155132414
Which is hilarious because being in a room with a moose is actually a serious danger
>>
>>155132414
>They injure more people than bears.
it's because moose are more likely to be drunk or high
>>

I remember reading this book in middle school that was a real life first hand account of a teenager that got stranded in the Canadian wilderness after the pilot flying him to his dad's logging operation died of a heart attack. Think it was called The Hatchet. Anyway he survived out there for months, and in spite of a few hardships managed to do decently well for himself until he encountered a Moose, that just completely and utterly fucked his shit the fuck up and he had to play dead for like four hours with broken bones until it finally left. Stuck with me.

>They injure more people than bears.
Yeah, people don't have claws. Generally if a moose fights a bear, the bear gets to work for its lunch.

Bingo! There are no bad ideas just bad execution and Invader Zim is beautifully executing it bizarre and wacky premise.

I think its why the lolrandom humor it spawned in millennials fails so hard. They play the zaniness dead seriously and that juxtaposition makes the comedy. Zaniness for its own sake is pointless and therefor tiresome and confusing.

This scene here called for a fate so horrible it urges the hero to get into action. Could have been a crhlylu tentacle dungeon or a literal meat grinder but presenting a random animal with the same suspense and horror as cthlulus meat grinding tentacles elevates the premise to absurdist comedy while still maintaining plot relevent drama.

I mean, it IS a moose
I'd honestly react the same way if there was no way out of that room

A roose with a moom
>>
>>155132621
True on that! Then again "moose" has the long oo sound and I think jhonen loves his hooting. A RooOOoom with a mooOOoose!!!

Think its why they had minimoose and GIR yapped about moose on occasion.
>>
>>155132551
Isn't that the same with southparks writing too? Their this>but>therefor plot progression allows them to plug in damn near anything that follows the logic so the twists and weirdness are always surprising without being random.

The moose was eating walnuts. Which I think was supposed to mean that it would chew your balls off. And that's pretty horrible.
>>

I don't think Hatchet was a true story. I vaguely recall the author getting a bit of shit because, while it was well researched, the truth is the kid got lucky to be stranded during an abundant time of the year, just before winter set in. So they eventually made an AU sequel where the kid had to survive through the winter too.

It was a true story but yes, he got lucky and the sequels were fake.
>>
>>155135154
Nah, he was just eating Gir’s walnuts
>>

>>155137130
It's a fake story based on the author's real experiences of running away to live in the woods for long spans of time when he was a child, his domestic life was fucked up and he learned all the techniques mentioned in the book doing that. The "based on a true story" thing was twisted out of that, because a lot of the events in the book ARE based on things that happened to him during those times, but the premise of a kid being trapped in the wilderness after a plane crash is fictional.

The CGI walnuts destroying the budget made more room for more quality programming like Butt-Ugly Martians.’
