>kids nowadays are obsessed with horror>no scary cartoons like courage or invader zimwhat gives?
>>155138770TV cartoons are dead. Children either play horror video games like FNAF or watch horror media like the Backrooms or analog horror.
That's truhorror, they only care about nuhorror
>>155138770So you don’t understand how long it takes to produce a cartoon
What are you talking about? Everyone is gay now. That's horrifying.
Because adults arent making it. Kids dont make stuff for themselves, they latch onto horror their older siblings, peers or dad likes. As usual the real problem is millennials i.e. the Worse Boomers
>>155138842This
>>155138833kids have been obsessed with horror since fnafthat was like 12 years ago
>>155138770My specialty is horror. I just wrote this horrific romance story https://manlyburger.substack.com/p/saba-plight-of-the-impmotherCartoon artists like me were rejected in the early 10s since our sensibilities aren’t “nice” while artists like on Steven Universe were “nice.” Specialty artists won’t just materialize out of nowhere because audiences want them now 10 years later. If you want a certain genre, you should start 10 years in advance Billy and Mandy being considered a “hateful fart cartoon” was another downturn
>>155138770First of all, cartoons these days are sanitized as fuck, they had to slap warnings on tame ass "scary" episodes of Wylde Pak and Amphibia cause we treat kids like pussies these days.Second of all we don’t really have "insane minds" with personality like Dilworth, Vasquez, or Atoms making cartoons anymore, it’s all millennial reddit-types making cartoons now.
>>155138770I remember Courage's creator saying that he tried to pitch a Courage revival to Cartoon Network multiple times, but they told him that this show wasn't profitable and didn't had marketable characters since the main cast was a fat dog and a elderly couple, as for Invader Zim, Nick actually asked the creator to make more seasons after the movie but he refused because the budget per episode was too low and he didn't wanted it to look cheaper than the original episodes
>>155138818our culture is dead. Everything that was good, happened in 80s-10s. There will be endless callbacks. There will be nothing new, nor daring. We will live in endless automatically generated slop. The only thing you can do, is dig the 90s and forget about modern times. Because nothing new will ever amount to the previous decades
>>155138770Kids nowadays want quirky horror, not the actual horror. They want horror that's "Fucked up" but is patched up with bright colors and funny looking charactersThey want horror they can't actually relate to, one's they can't understand or horror with "lore" like cosmic horror, abstract horror, or metaphor monsters. They'll go for unsubtle metaphors and dimensions that look like pools but will get widely upset with you if your horror "takes it too far"This is why we don't get indie horror animation, we get analog horror that refuses to get out of it's comfort zone
>>155140183There's always new culture, you're just old and not a part of it anymore. Hunkering down in your own nostalgia is just a sign of you getting old.
>>155138818FPBP, plus TV is for kids with over-protective parents
>>155138842>millennials>the WORSE boomersTrue to that! =_=
>>155140435>Hunkering down in your own nostalgia is just a sign of you getting old.how do I avoid this assuming I get old?
>>155141596Either die young or exclusively consume content popular with people younger than yourself
>>155138770>no scary cartoons like courage or invader zimKids don't care about "classic" horror. Only mascot horror slop.
>>155138770I never found either those shows scary.
kids just want quick jumpscares for the dopamine
>>155138770parents complain when cartoons are too dark
>>155138770this was the latest children's cartoon i could think of with horror aspects. highly recommend
>>155138770you're not allowed to make cartoons anymore unless they're about brown lesbians
Something having horror themes doesn't mean it is intended to be scary. Calling Courage the Cowardly Dog or Invader Zim 'scary' is obviously nonsense.
>>155145209a lot of people talk about how certain episodes of courage scared them as kids. i never found zim particularly scary though
