>>155141353Leaving aside the foreign countries where The Phantom is still popular (Australia, Finland, etc) during the 70s there was a boom in books with pulpy two-fisted action with reprints of Doc Savage, Tarzan and The Phantom books. It would've made sense to cash in on this nostalgia with The Phantom, who was still kinda socially relevant (as were most newspaper comics from that era, thanks to the G.I. Generation and boomers) and had been born from the pulp aesthetic.
