A funny joke is a funny joke. A few decades aren't going to change the fact both writing and delivery were on point. It's true for all the old, good episodes though.

Because it's great golden era Simpsons writing, there are plenty like it.

I, like many other children at the time, had no idea this was a "beat-for-beat" parody like Airplane or Men in Tights. We just thought it was a great thriller episode that perfectly fit the Sideshow Bob quasi-plot.
