>>155151069It’s out?
>>155151342yeah and it sucks like everyone predicted

Is it just going to be John having sex with different white men's wives?
Doesn't surprise me that the retarded tourists on this board would keep trying to tortanic the show. Its good so far
>>155151498>touriststhis land is your landthis land is my land
>>155151069I thought the first epsiode was pretty good, but it unfortunately cemented that you'll NEVER be able to discuss this show on 4chan
Thanks for the trash, undetermined shill operative.
>>155151561Why?
>>155152530Because it was shit.
>>155151069So what is this even about? All I hear is that Hal dies in the first episode and that it all apparently takes place in some small town? Are they going for the Smallville approach or what?
>>155151069>Who’s your favorite Lantern? You'll never guess, poozer.
Anyone but Guy Gardner.
>>155154344It's a mystery about Hal's death and it's tied into the Manhunters. However it takes place over 2 timelines, the main one from 2016 is where the show takes place and Hal doesn't die until 2026.
>>155151342Out and proud, anon.
They can’t do it on the showBut hope a future movie explores the alien Lanterns moreLike Chip and Arisia
>>155154344>So what is this even about? On /tv/ a recurring talking point is that John Stewart has worked really hard to be Green Lantern and is getting passed over for it because he's black even though he's worked really hard.
>>155154824That’s not really trueHis constructs are lame so far
>>155151498What is good about this show so far? Honestly asking. I'm baffled by the positive reaction because it comes off as either denial, bots, or casuals who don't know the material. This show is like taking something like Star Wars or Star Trek.....and setting all of it in Nebraska. Like if JJ Abrams first Star Trek movie never had young Kirk get off Earth at the beginning. This simply isn't Green Lantern, simply by wasting the premise. >But what about the alien in the interrogation scene?Would have meant more had it dropped its disguise, or Hal clocking what species he is to show his experience amongst the stars. Hell, the showrunners even admit they didn't want to make a GL show, and the suit was a last minute addition! Sure, we get teases in later episodes of Sinestro, off world investigations, etc, but this entire thing reeks of "Surf Dracula" and I hate it.Also fuck the sheriff and judge characters. Poorly written girl bosses that don't make sense in their own continuity for the sake of tropes
>>155154937I too watch Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker.
>>155151069My favorite Lantern is Lantern, I think he is a good Lantern

>>155151069Its shit, I abhor the western setting I perefer the deep space opera, Green Lantern is literally DC's Starwars
>>155154937Setting it in a grounded location allows for a focus on the characters and mystery, rather than an over saturation of CG and alien prosthetics. The characterization is great and so is the acting, and fuck off with the "MUH WOKE" bullshit.
>>155155181GL does shit on Earth all the time.
>>155154847>has used the ring twice>his constructs are "lame"You guys are retarded
Wish I had known who was behind it, same guy behind the anti-white Watch Men tv show, Damon Lindelof, no prizes for guessing his early life.Hal is the token washed out old white guy set to be replaced by the young woman or non-white male, the bad guys are white, John the black guy sleeps with the bad guys wife. Damon is really living up those early life stereotypes.
>>155151069I'm long since weary of capeslop, but if I were watching it my answer would be: Not the nigger.
>>155155276shut the fuck up
>>155155253A bottle opener and 20 dollars is lame, sorry shill.
>>155155196First off, we can have mystery and well written characters in a sci fi space setting. Just look at Star Trek TNG. Secondly, if you can't afford prosthetics for aliens, which again Star Trek has been doing that shit for decades, then don't bother making the show. Third, Kyle Chandler's performance, while good, does not make up for the execution/script. And finally, put your fucking strawman away. I would have criticized the sheriff and judge characters had they been men too. Know why? BECAUSE THEY'RE WRITTEN TERRIBLY. Fuck this chip on your shoulder "I'm in charge" nonsense with the sheriff, and fuck the judge for being willfully ignorant on what a Green Lantern is considering Hal explained it to the world nearly a decade ago on 60 minutes. So fuck off with your shill nonsense, burying your head in the sand over what GL fans actually want
>>155155196>Setting it in a grounded location allows for a focus on the characters and mystery, rather than an over saturation of CG and alien prosthetics

So is just pretending to be a shill the new ragebait? Granted I do think our board does jump the gun in terms of labeling any positive opinion as "Shill" but in this case it's very weird to see people defending some of the creative decisions here
>>155155678>of all charactersYou mean to say "main character of most Green Lantern media"
>>155155915no i mean to say character who famously died and treated it as a minor inconvenience
watching the first episodewhat is this dogshit double hal stuff
Didn't someone speculate that it's someone else masquerading as Hal, since the backup was something like 10 years old, and the whole death thing was probably a flashback not a consequence of stopping the alien bomb?
>>155156258retarded theory, ring would know if it's a fake.
>>155155878Dude, we had daily thread for HBO Watchmen, where posters here would praise some of the most baffling decisions of the show.
I feel like I'm watching an aborted sheridan spinoff that gunn painted green
>>155155412You were talking about John Stewart, retard.>>155155534Green Lantern doesn't just exist in space. And plenty of fans love it. Including Ethan Van Sciver, the guy who drew GL during the biggest events in the comic's history, and created multiple characters. Sorry you're too stupid to appreciate good TV.
>>155155590The Ryan Reynolds movie exists, go watch that for your jingling keys. And we saw in the trailer that Hal goes and talks to Sinestro, so we know it's going off Earth at some point.
>>155156574Anon can we just drop the shitposting mask and be for real for once? Yes there are moments where Green Lantern (Hal) is on Earth, but that's normally his breather between missions and the downtime between plots. Hal doesn't have a mailing address, PO Box, rarely has a job on Earth, or even sets foot on our planet unless its JL related. Lanterns occasionally rotate stations on Earth, but the appeal of the book is being out there in space. It's one of the reasons why Carol Ferris and Hal had issues with their relationship, because Hal had a hard time being tethered to Earth. Fucking Guy gets stir crazy on Earth, and was honor guard of Oa. So why are you pretending this is the norm for Green Lantern when it isn't? I'd have more respect for the show if we were digging up Earth villains like Doctor Polaris or Goldface
I was reading reviews and the show is grounded until ep 4 or 5 after that is space opera
>>155156624NTA but while the 2011 movie has its problems, no one considered the Earth shit good. We've been preaching that shit for over a decade. Bad CGI and fucking up Parallax were among other issues, but at least I give it credit for trying. Hector Hammond was sort of an afterthought. >And we saw in the trailer that Hal goes and talks to Sinestro, so we know it's going off Earth at some point.Which all feels like it's the producers eye rolling like they have to throw fans a bone. The question remains will it matter. This show as it stands now is CW tier excuse for not giving fans what they want. Hell it's hard to even say that too considering what The Flash tried in later seasons what with King Shark and Gorilla Grodd
>>155156667Cry me a river, faggot. They can go to space at any time.
>>155156690If that's true than this show has the worst fucking marketing
Any one here read the comics? Is it true that green lantern has some tie to the military/police thing a recent addition or has that always been the case?
>>155156705It's not what YOU want.>>155156690WHAT?! You mean the show might ... CHANGE after the first episode?
Will he eat the ring?
>>155156720retcon with hal jordan krypton had his own lantern but he fumbled
I don't get the ending
>>155156706So you have no argument and just resort to insults? Okay, I accept your concession
>>155156720So it wasn't originally a thing with Alan Scott, his ring wasn't even a conventional Corp ring. Alan's ring was a prototype using magic, The Starheart, which fled to Earth. Guardians didn't think magic was worth it, so they harness the green light of the emotional spectrum. Space Cops shit came with Hal Jordan, and set the precedent for decades. Also I can just explain Lantern lore if anyone cares. Better than this shitshow

>>155156927We addressed those already, you're just doubling down. What would you say is the main appeal of Green Lantern? What are its signature settings/visuals that make it recognizable?>>155156960Earth, while a backwater planet not worth much attention, has become a high traffic galactic point of interest the Guardians can't ignore anymore. You have Apokolips, Starro, The Reach, Mongul, and a fuck ton of other things that somehow make their way here, and Earth usually is the epicenter of universal threats that put other planets in jeopardy. Do to various events, we've ended up with a handful of Green Lanterns. However only one or two ever really hang out on Earth at any given time, and usually they rotate shifts off Earth to go on other adventures. They're called back for crisis stuff too. Also The Life Entity, which is white light, lived at the center of Earth. Guardians tried to keep this secret until Blackest Night/Brightest Day
>>155157006Dudes making green constructs. >WHY IS THIS SHOW ON EARTH>Here's why Earth has become super important and why there's always at least one Lantern on Earth
>>155156987They'll do a 180 if it gets too popular, wait and see
>>155157034>Dudes making green constructs. Is that it? Okay, working off that basic metric, which is the bare minimum, the show hasn't done anything interesting with constructs. We don't see Hal making giant baseball bats, planes, the boxing glove, space guns, shields, or anything creative. We get the run of the mill bubble every Lantern does. At least Guy did cool shit in Superman what with his oven mitts, the eye drill, etc. This show has a lot to live up to >Here's why Earth has become super important and why there's always at least one Lantern on EarthBut here's the thing about that: those stories are not Green Lantern books. Those are usually Justice League/crossover books. Green Lantern books are 9 times out of ten set in space doing crazy stuff. There was Johns war of light, there was Morrison's stuff with the Controllers/Blackstars, that kind of thing. When GLs are on Earth in their books, it's usually a "down period" between plots.

>>155157577Yeah but the current sentiment of all cops are bastards is pretty prominent in leftoid circles so they can't say "yeah lanterns are magic space cops," because then you risk some leftoid troon latching onto the space part and realizing they deal with alien crime and then all of a sudden lanterns are space cops and space ICE and the leftoid masses are triggered against you.
>>155157619and its going to be nothing but surf dracula bullshit whats your point? if the PILOT of the show doesnt show off the GL's constructs and hook the viewer in with its plot then why the fuck would anyone bother to continue watching? for that matter, why are you shilling for it? how much do you get paid? is it hourly? per post? thread? are you freelance or do you always work for the same guys?
>>155157625Well shit I got bamboozled.
>>155157666Setting aside the direct relevance of the quote, it's true that cops are unpopular in general, but I think that doesn't apply as much to fiction. The audience is privy to the truth of their life away from the moment of arrest, so they can know what kind of characters they're dealing with. We know a story about justice is being told and what kind of story it is etc.
>>155151069>Is dis nigguh forreal? Shiieeet. I'ma aboutta snatch dat rang of his and leave his ass for the manhunters to play wit. Yeah kek. Not a good promo image if it literally looks like a /pol/ image or that meme of that webcomic of the black protag slowly taking over the newly revived IP.

>>155157467You never tried at all. Your tears are delicious and I'm happy that we have a great GL show that is so popular.
stream?
>>155157577Partially, I'm sure, but he really is making a point here that the dynamics are usually much different. Cop shows are called "procedurals" for a reason. The cop exists in a place wherein they uphold the local law. They live among that community, they are aware of its particular dynamics and power struggles, and they follow a specific legal code that define criminality and they often struggle against what is considered lawful and unlawful behavior. But even Space Cop Green Lanterns have rarely followed that. The comparison to marshalls is apt: they going around to different places and addressing the most important, in progress crises and troubles they fine. They're not doing a 9-5 routine that's about maintaining a particular social order. They ride in, fight a bad guy, then ride off to the next bad guy.
I'm interested enough to keep watching, vibe I'm getting is that the flashback stuff will end with John refusing the call and becoming an architect.
>>155157840They made Willow, the Acolyte, and Starfleet Academy, anon. Why didn't the modern audience show up and support? Nary a racist neo con in site. Super diverse casting.
>>155157722The simple truth is people love cops. Everyone hates criminals, yes even the people stereotyped as loving them. They just don't think of them as criminals. Think of every person who was pro some law or policy then shocked it affected them or people they knew. "But we aren't bad guys!" And everyone loves a real law man who's there to punish the bad guys and keep them from hurting you. Basic fear and defense responses. What's happening now shows just how fucking terrible and pathetic the average cop has become at their job. People will use almost any excuse to give cops slack, so you know things have to be going pretty badly if there's a noticeable push against them.

>>155151069Didn't know about this. I tend to like the performance of the actor on the right. I know it can't always carry the story itself... is there a hero whose focus is keeping up with crime/black market related to dangerous/kaiju creatures? Thought came to me suddenly because of his performance in Godzilla.
>>155158854No, I think he knows something is up with JohnThey handwaved that bird being around without John wearing a ring, but bringing the anomaly up in script means they are well aware it's an anomaly
Why isn't the suit a construct? Can you imagine how fucking tedious would it be to change clothes every single time you need to act? I mean... unless you're Superman, but even he wears his uniform under his clothes at all times.
If the gilf turns out to be the Manhunter, would that make Jon bisexual?
I think the casting for Sinestro was excellent! A certain Silver Age flower makes an appearance, big fan as always. I think the prop design on the lantern itself was pretty nice, very Golden Age. Being better than Ryan Reynolds is not a difficult bar to clear, but I like the interpretation of Hal Jordan being salty & disillusioned. I’d prefer John Stewart as a carnivore that drinks caffeinated coffee, but within the context of the scene I can get wanting decaf instead
>>155151069John Stewart, I like his seriousness and for being the most stoic among the GLs. Grew up with the JLA animated series and liked him.
>>155158845He was referring to Hal not the entirety of the GL corp Sinestro was saying John Stewart was Hal’s biggest threat since he is replacing him
>>155158838Why do you keep shilling his channel? Nobody fucking cares about him.
>>155158890I assumed that had to do with Jon's mind being more focused and having the vision of an architect, that's why his construct lasted so long. He has both strong willpower and confidence in himself.

>>155154937All the best GL stories were set on Earth.
>>155156960Oh I just read this issue yesterday. Apparently humans have so much will, that they're the only species who don't mindlessly follow orders and that makes them the best green lanterns.
>>155158845Sinestro has guys and the Manhunter has guysAnd they're at war trying to find an ancient power that's another emotional power (fear) like Will is to the GLsSinestro eventually becomes the GL of fear so you should sort of see where this is going with him trying to instill fear in Hal In the comics this is only the first inning of how this emotional power goes

>>155159396>I don’t read comics, I get all my information from TikTok and fanwikisIsn’t it past your bedtime?
>>155159408I’m not disagreeing with you, the uniform has always been a construct, all the way back to Alan Scott & Woozy Winks. They had a practical visual effects and costume design budget and spent it, can’t fault them for it; Doesn’t mean it’s good though. I wouldn’t wear that shit either, anything past 2mm of latex is too thick and constricting (not in the good way)
>>155159423Oh so now you're onto baseless casual accusations? Motherfucker you didn't even know what Hal's go-to constructs were, you're a joke
>>155159408>>155159470I think production just made a practical suit because they didn't want to remind everyone of the Ryan Reynolds version where everything was CGI.
>>155159408>>155159470>>155159493Again, they weren't going to have a suit at all. It was last minute. This show is a joke
So the DCU chronology so far is>Clayface>Lanterns (2016 segments)>The Suicide Squad>Blue Beetle>Peacemaker S1>Creature Commandos>Superman>Peacemaker S2>Supergirl>Lanterns (2026 segments)>Man of Tomorrow
>>155159503kek you're so mindbroken
People shouldn’t overthink the suit. It’s just them reworking GL fantasy to fit their low budget true detective fanfic about a jaded hero. Like also saying Earth can only have one lantern, and now John being the chosen one or whatever. Yeah it sucks. At least they changed the suit to green in post, could you imagine if they kept the brown lmao.
>>155159517So pointing out facts triggers you? I know you're just paid to bump the thread, you're welcome btw
I completely changed my opinion on Hal's suit after he put it on at the end of the second episode It doesn't look that bad in low light and it doesn't look as bulky when you can see his full body. Not to mention he actually has a comic accurate ass in the suit. I didn't know 60 year old men could still have asses like that.
>>155159493And I get that, but the costume design is bad. They leaned too much into the self-proclaimed “space cop” aspect (again, paramilitary organization, not police) and made it tacticool and Nolan-esque instead of leaning into the “interstellar superhero part of a greater harmonious collective” part. Furthermore I find the idea of getting into someone else’s suit repulsive if not ill fitting. The shoulders are too chunky its like epaulets
>>155159515>not a single one of these is a financial successFucking grim
>Hal has to take off his car grill to show the audience "Durr the metal detector don't work!"I think that was fucking evident with the belt buckle and tire iron, you fucking hack writers. This is how stupid they think you are

>>155159578>Entry level childrenThis show isn't aimed for kids. They'd be bored, and their parents might be a little upset about the dead dick they flash on screen. >people who don’t read comics is trying to give them some context? It's a fucking metal detector, not a fusion reactor. Keep in mind, the DCAU and X-Men TAS didn't reach this level of coddling. They didn't treat the viewer, be they kid or adult, as stupid. Get off your phone, and stop pushing for shit scripts
>>155159543Superman was the highest grossing superhero film of 2025, and Peacemaker had solid ratings. Lanterns is popping off in that department as well. Supergirl doesn't bode well for DC films that aren't directly made by Gunn but Clayface is also out in a few months so we'll see how well that performs (especially in comparison to its cheap budget).
So according to the Telly Savalas alien guy:>The man hunter can take on a human form>The man hunter can be killed while in human formIf they can take a human form once, why couldn't they do it again - possibly taking on the form of Hal - and the dead Hal we see at the end of ep 1 is actually the manhunter?
>>155159630>Keep in mind, the DCAU and X-Men TAS didn't reach this level of coddling. They didn't treat the viewer, be they kid or adult, as stupidGenerally characters in those shows would often have to spell out their motivations and plans for the viewer's sake.

Cameron was right in his 8-80 age rule. They need to cut it down with the dick showing, cuck, poop jokes. 3 of 5 DCU products are now R rated. Plus the whole ironic self deprecating ashamed of its source material writing needs to go. I don’t see how this appeals to anyone outside of a subsection of Twitter. Like what does Gunn/DC honestly expect out of this? It’s not going to propel MoT or any other DC product. The MCU and Mandalorian proved these shows are a dead end for the brand and the box office. The MCU officially scrapped all of their shows and it’s back to being theater exclusive. At the very least Supergirl should’ve been the show and Lanterns should’ve been an actual Green Lantern movie.
>>155159862It's "sir", gentlemen is plural. I thought I'd point that out since you're ESL. The British were the best thing to happen to you, yet you still fucked up
Why didn't he stop it?
>>155159882Was the MCU perfect 1 year after Iron Man? We all forget the shitty Hulk movie that was a bomb the same year and the Cap and Thor movies were mid and that's multiple years before MCU hit year 1. >>155160001>Underneath all his confidence and showmanship, Hal is lonely and has no friends or functional social life>Speaks to his experience and adventures that he ended up getting a rich mansion from them
Everyone in the town except the Sheriff and her son is probably a Manhunter right? That was the whole point of the hospital scene and the wrapped equipment.
>>155160017>>155160072Ok tom king we get it.
What the fuck is this "white man" diner talk? You just know a limp wristed white lefty cuck like Lindenoff wrote this. People are fed up with this nonsense. People don't talk like this
>>1551589302 million chuds watch him
>>155159968He’s half right. The budget stuff yes. But they aren’t trying to actively distance themselves from the GL movie. They don’t really care about GL at all, hence why they’re casually changing and retrofitting everything. The movie, while underwhelming, was on point in most areas. He’s just describing the happenstance issue with the entire show, that it just isn’t Green Lantern.
According to the reviews I read and seeing the promo for episode 3...The ring was always meant for John's dad, that's why he behaves the way he does, it's always been meant for the family line.Hal just got in the way of his dad getting it.And now this lame white man who stole the black man's power finally gets his comeuppance.Enjoy the next episode, cucks.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg3enKwDmD4
>>155160095Yes but the sheriff and her son are also manhunters. That town meeting was them trying to figure out what to do with Hal.
>>155160099They do talk like that in LA where they're writing this show
>>155160099See>>155160115
>>155160096don't worry anon not everyone can have a 5th grade reading level.
>>155159968Sure, loosely. He's being a bit silly by thinking a Lantern show is going to be space opera when the comics can't even be bothered to do it half the time, but it's abundantly clear the funding for this show got gutted early into development. Even a Hollywood executive knows you can't do a show about a guy with a flashlight without a flashlight budget.
>>155159547the TIRE IRON wasn't enough to set off the METAL DETECTOR he had to rip off the rental

>>155160115>>155160123It's obvious that Jon's dad was with Hal the night with Abin Sur but he showed fear and that's why he wasn't chosen by the ring. Butthurt, he instead trained Jon from birth to be Hal's successor.
>>155160168John's dad probably was asked the question by the ring, said "yes" because he genuinely was, then flew off to find Hal. So yeah John's dad is a salty little bitch
I want to hate this show for various reasons, but that scene with old ass Sinestro got me man. Fuck. Fuck you Tom King
The wife is definitely the Manhunter right? The law of economic story telling says she has to be more relevant that a sounding board for John's stupid grudge against Hal.
>>155160131Eh. It’s hard to tell how much of it is the chicken or the egg. I’m pretty sure they were set on the True Detective thing from the beginning. It wasn’t ever built to be a space opera and a victim of getting cut down.
>>155160156Supergirl wasn't good at all.
>>155160209The premise of the show, as described back in 2023, was that Hal and Jon would investigate a murder out in the boonies only to uncover a larger eldritch threat which would tie into the larger DCU story.
>>155160186Of course the dangling car keys did it.
>>155160191Golly, I wonder if the Indian writer who wrote an Indian character cucking the bad guy is going to make the only Indian character on the show the big reveal?
>>155159934>B- but what about Marvel!!!!!!!!When it comes to internet discourse, it feels like we’re still in the DCEU days. Time is a flat circle.
>>155160211James wanted to do a WW2 movie about the Spear of Longinus instead but they made him do Supergirl instead.
>>155159968He's right but at the same time, he's expecting that they throw a pile of money to a project that was underwhelming even at that time, to a project with unknown quality. There's a reason why during the Hamada, the GL movie got turned into a show then it went through multiple phases until it landed into this so it could go forward. In Hollywood, they are absolutely scared that if an IP doesn't have previous money in the back, it lowers the budget for any future project of the IP.See for example, Percy Jackson was a movie that lost money and couldn't adapt the rest, and it only came back as a streaming series with a lower budget.Although his comment about this show being something that other character could benefit from DC, it's true and valid.
>>155160231Not that anon but god forbid the Green Lantern fan gets something from the comics
>>155160238Sure, sure. The man who lies about everything told the truth this time and was basically forced to make the one movie that bombed. We got to create a narrative to save his reputation.

>>155160238>James wanted to do a WW2 movie about the Spear of Longinuseven if this were true, he’ll really do anything other than batman or wonder woman KEK. what does he have against the a-listers?
Sinestro really does look like an old white dude
>>155160255Snyder is the reason why DC movies are in this mess, Sanjay. Nolan is partially at fault as well since he produced the Snyder movies.
>>155160272He's played by the main villain in Banshee I think
>>155160238All Star Squadron, not that any of you monkeys have read it, was the equivalent of slop for the Bronze Age. They put all their least talented writers and artists on a bunch of Golden Age characters they’d been sitting on because Charlton was outcompeting them. Then a certain event occurred - IYKYK (fuck you kids!). Whatever the concept was it would’ve sold worse than Supergirl and would’ve just been DC’s Thunderbolts but infinitely worse
>>155160249this shit is all open you moronhe wanted a sgt rock movie and at no point wanted a supergirl moviethe dc execs are just under the same cancer that marvel has that thinks they can turn disney princess fans into female superhero fanshere's the funny part, marvel will actually get away with it because of the x-men
>sector 666 tier plot that dude is atrocitus and the show ends with everyone founding their corps right?
>>155160281Eh, it's moreso a mess because of WB, yet Snyder didn't help himself.
>>155160281Nolan only produced Man of Steel and Snyder ended up ignoring some of his suggestions, which included not killing Zod.
>>155159566HTH was good if you’re a leftie boomer who loves to point out how bad a situation is without actually doing anything to solve it like Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams were.
>>155160284>and at no point wanted a supergirl movieHe picked the writer, he picked the director, and he made his own cut. It ties to his Superman movie. The Sgt Rock movie you mentioned that it is a left over from Snyder/Johns days. It started as a BlackHawks movie directed produced by Steven Spielberg that would lead to Sgt Rock.
It's really weird but also kind of funny that this guy ends up getting the ring instead of Jon (at least before the ending of this show)
>>155160266ground floor you just cant wave a magic want and have a perfect batman and wonder womanin fact a perfect batman and ww has never existed
>>155160284to be fair with the supergirl comment, most if not all of the ideas of the DCU came from stuff that had some work around before Gunn was around. Lanterns, Supergirl, even a new Superman movie were all just works that WB was aware of.
>>155160288either that or unleashing the emotional entities
>>155160156I disagree. They weren't amazing but they still good. They had to have been received well for The Avengers to have had made as much money as it did. Compare that to Justice League or The Flash, big crossover movies that failed because no one liked the previous installments.
>>155160291You’re right. Warners’ retardation + constantly getting bought by other companies is likely the main reason. Snyder could’ve made better movies, though.
a lot of people keep glazing gunn when the dude still doesnt understand tht he needs to build his universe slowly and not with c listersgunn is creative but he needs someone to tell some of his ideas are stupid. it pisses me off gunn is with tom king to the end.
>>155160302He is the boss and he isn't. He doesn't make big choices and greenlights projects. Not even saying his ideas are good but tge Sgt Rock fighting nazis movies would have been way better than Supergirl.
>>155160336>Snyder could’ve made better movies, though. He made great movies, though.
>>155160168John Stewart Sr didn't know Hal's name until his interview so I doubt he was with him
Guys it’s well documented that Supergirl was Gunn’s baby. The only thing taken from the Hamadaverse is Lanterns and it was still heavily reworked.
>>155160017oh
>>155160342>Not even saying his ideas are good but tge Sgt Rock fighting nazis movies would have been way better than Supergirl. They were going to turn him gay, which is why the project was cancelled. The actor felt it wasn't going to work.
>>155160330apples to orangesthose movies were both mid and nothing will ever change that if iron man 1 wasn't based capeshit wouldnt even be a thing
>>155160344Snyder couldn’t direct a diaper commercial let alone Triumph of Der Willes. Those movies were actual garbage and the only people defending them are fat faggots with ponytails from reddit and /co/, because it was their first exposure to the concept and they bonded to it like baby chickens.
>>155160310Yes you can. Making a good Batman movie is piss easy and a new Wonder Woman not played by an IDF soldier will have goodwill from fans.
>>155160361Then how he made some of the best capeshit movies ever done?

>>155160369That statement isn’t saying much, is it now?
So wait a minute, everyone on Earth can just Google Sinestro and know what the fuck that's about? That would only fly if their fight happened on Earth.
>>155160284Again with the Marvel whataboutism, At least they’re learning from their mistakes and making things that the fans want to see, like canceling stupid bullshit no wanted like Wonder Man; crossing over X-Men and FF with the Avengers; as well as bringing back the Defenders in Born Again and potentially giving us a redemption for Danny Rand’s Iron Fist. Meanwhile, live-action DC is just running around in circles doing the same retarded shit it’s been doing for over a decade.
Just when you thought DC was going to turn around for the better its properties got put on a ferris wheel of Tom King rape. It deserves all the failure that’s coming.
>>155160367>Making a good Batman movie is piss easythe last batman movie was good and it actually kinda ate shit the mcu is a cultural thing now and there is no reasonable DC counter to it no matter what they do
>>155160377I wasn't even joking or being a shithead. Daniel Craig passed on the role because he was already playing an iconic gay character, that detective from those Netflix movies, and he felt the script was too heavy-handed and he didn't want to be tied to capeshit.
This revelation just makes John's dad look like the most resentful petty fuck on the planet>"It was supposed to be MEEEEEEEE!!!!"You had your shot, and you failed the test the ring presented you, hence why it flew to Hal.

Snyder at least had a vague circle of WB executives to take some of the blame. Gunn doesn’t have that luxury/excuse, Zaslav deliberately spun off DC into its own studio and made Gunn ceo so he wouldn’t have the same issues Snyder did.
>>155155534>Secondly, if you can't afford prosthetics for aliens, which again Star Trek has been doing that shit for decadesAnd it looked like shit when Trek did it. >>155159968Obviously the answer is that GL has enough brand recognition and is different enough from other characters that it has lesser risk to bomb completely and offers something other superhero shit isn’t currently offering
>>155160730can we at least agree this shit is pretty fuckin good? the faggots with tranny ghosts in their closet can fuck off
>>155160695He got Manhuntered.
>>155160772i dont even know what "surf dracula" is you fucking draculayou are the draculai bet you made young girls uncomforable this week unc dracula bitch ass nigga
>>155160660The law doesn't exist for alien shit you moron. If a well known space cop and hero enters my town saying there's alien activity, I'm going to let him look around. Stop being fucking stupid
Ok Google, show me Damon Lindelof's early life section on wikipedia.
>>155160695On his first night? Maybe he is worthy.
Why are shills even trying on 4chan anymore anyway? You'd think they'd focus on Twitter
>>155160722If Gunn enlisted Grant Morrison instead, /co/ would just complain about them being a woke enby.
>>155160801a netflix daredevil fanboy, ladies and gentlemen
>>155160826I'd rather the whole thing feeling a bit gay and campy than what we got.I was even looking forward to seeing Morrison work on The Flash script, when Ezra Miller fought to have him as the screenwriter. Even if it sucked, it'd have been interesting.
>>155160829what fucking world do you live in? you hate the best capeshit but are somehow in this threadgo live into some underground world
So next episode's the John/His dad backstory episode. How many more episodes of 2016 do you think we'll get before they go to the modern day plot?
>they're building John Stewart up to be the chosen oneIs this comic accurate?
>>155160191>The wife is definitely the Manhunter right? That would be my bet.
>>155160239Percy Jackson should have been an animated series from the start, I could easily see it becoming big with families and anime teens if it was approached with those audiences in mind instead of just being sentenced to direct-to-Disney+ hell.
>>155159906>Bush, we need a war in Afghanistan. Those Afghani's would shoot me on sight, I need you to make up an excuse to send the marines in as cover so I can investigate some aliens.
>>155160168He obviously was a candidate but failed the test. If you remember, Hal says in the first episode that he wasn’t taken to Abin Sur until he said he didn’t feel fear. >>155160412It’s actually a pretty interesting dynamic that John’s dad almost became a lantern and he’s basically spent his entire life after that fuming and trying to make his son one be the next one.>>155160372The comics have had plenty of drama over who gets the ring and how someone felt shafted due to losing it simply due to other guy being slightly closer geographically speaking. Guy used to have huge butthurt about it. Sure, some of it was also his brain trauma but still.>>155160495Both. >>155160582Zaslav is still head of WB and he thought Flash was going to be the biggest movie ever.>>155160637This show isn’t trying to be Star Trek. You keep crying and saying it should and that’s because you’re an idiot. Green Lanterns have had extensive runs where they almost exclusively do Earth shit. The show is doing the sensible thing of cutting costs so the budget is manageable and also slowly easing audiences into accepting the more fantastic elements. Stop being a petulant child who demands everything immediately
>>155160541>Netflix DD is my personal favorite Marvel projectIt was absolute garbage.
>>155160916No. There really is no "chosen one". Well, maybe Hal according to The Book of Oa. Hal is considered THE greatest Lantern in their recorded history simply because of his feats and making a ring out of his own willpower. Even Kyle became Space Jesus by mastering the entire spectrum and becoming a White Lantern, and a vessel of Ion if memory serves (the entity/embodiment of willpower). John ain't shit other than a by the book straight man of the crew.
>>155160808And I’m sure you would also keep sucking his dick while he’s being an asshole about everything to you too.
Feel like if they're gonna go back to making John Stewart the go to lantern for adaptions again, they need to give him more personal villains outside of Fatality. Hal and Sinestro are already old in this, how many other established lanterns are also aged up? Is Carol Ferris running around?
>>155160949>This show isn’t trying to be Star Trek.So we're just pissing away the majority of the material? Okay, then don't make the show at all if you're not going to give it a budget. Morrison is right, and you're a fag coping.>The show is doing the sensible thing of cutting costs so the budget is manageable and also slowly easing audiences into accepting the more fantastic elements. There's a way to do that, and they failed. Hector Hammond, Doctor Polaris, Goldface, Solomon Grundy. There, I fucking mapped out Earth related threats they could have done. I'm not unreasonable, I'm calling out the stupidity
>>155160984Is Gilf Carol Ferris running around*Whoops, forgot a word.
>>155160975Nice Freudian slip, homo. Also not an argument. This plot is only happening the way it is cause the script says so.
>>155160966>John ain't shit other than a by the book straight man of the crew. The entire last run of John’s own book was all about power wank and making John the next chosen one. That’s why the self conscious construct of his dead sister is still around.
>>155160989You can keep throwing tantrums how the show doesn’t get your seal of approval. I don’t give a shit, meanwhile I’m enjoying a well done show.
>>155160959what's better dickhead?
Reminder that the suit was going to look like this
>>155161048Isn't that how it looks in the show?
How is this show so fucking good? I genuinely thought it would be trash after that first trailerI am so glad I was wrong lmaoGLs FINALLY GETTING THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE!
>>155161067Nah much greener
>>155161067I wouldn't put it past them.
>>155161095Meant for >>155161076
>Clayface>Superman Man of Tomorrow>Gorilla Grodd Mockumentary>Creature Commando's season 2.That's pretty much what's left for this universe after this. All comes down to how long this paramount deal gets dragged out if they get anything else in the pipeline
>>155161150You forgot the Mister Miracle cartoon.
>>155161158I did in fact. Thank you, then we've got about 5 things left.
>>155161164Such a weird list of productions. Even going by the original plan with Authority, Paradise Island, Waller, Booster Gold, and so on it is still strange.
>>155161048I can see that they were trying to go with the flight jacket theme, but they just should have committed and gone with basic suit/jacket over
>>155161173Mister Miracle's the only thing I can't see a direct connection with as of yet, maybe MoT will make that clear.Lantern's I can see them going ahead with because they already had Guy in Superman, which then allowed them to feel "confident" in going ahead with the Gorilla Grodd Mockumentary as well cause he made a cameo in Creature Commandos.Clayface is basically bouncing off the back of CC at this point since Batman's still not got his movieFor the cancelled stuff? Authority was always a pet project of Gunn which he seemed to finally relent on, Sgt. Rock again tied into CC before that got shelved, Waller feels like it was supposed to be a sequel to all the Peacemaker shit.Paradise Island was always a mistake to do first and Booster Gold might've just existed to set up the universes version of Blue Beetle disconnecting it from the rest of the lore the movie set up
>>155161217>Mister Miracle's the only thing I can't see a direct connection with as of yet, maybe MoT will make that clear.Guy Gardner is int, but other than that who knows.
>>155161246Might as well start calling it the GGU with the amount of projects Guy's popping up in.
>>155161173Yeah why couldn’t they just do Batman movies every year
>>155161173>>155161217Gunn's policy for DCU projects is basically "produce weird or interesting stories set within the DC universe", rather than a step by step entries that directly lead into a crossover event like Marvel. It's mostly standalone movies/shows with some crossover like certain characters popping up in other entries, while the films/shows that Gunn is personally writing will be the ones that primarily move the overarching plot (Superman being the introduction to the setting, Peacemaker S2 setting up Salvation and Checkmate).

>>155161323Hal whipped out his cock!? Maybe I'll actually watch the show now
>>155161158YJK gunn’s corny ass is gonna put this in the mister miracle show as a needle drophttps://youtu.be/rlm-SlJOhwg
>>155161369Mike + the Mechanics are far too based for James Gunn’s tastes
But will the Mister Miracle show have a pegging joke?
>>155160916Kinda sorta but not really. John has been built up to be some super special powerful one before. He became a Guardian in Mosaic for a while, then in Thorne's run he became some kind of New God of Light.
>>155161016Anon, your breath smells of feces after consuming that slop.
>>155151069Imagine if they do live action Simon the Digger vs White Lantern Kyle?
>>155159547>Hal has to take off his car grillTbf that's exactly what Hal would have done.

>>155159968The best Star Trek series were low budget, but the scripts were great. So I don't see why that can't be applied here. If the plot and characters are interesting, then a low budget is fine with me. And so far the series is good.
>>155161067That's basically the Mosaic storyline anyway
>>155160916Yes but basically all Earth Lanterns have been chosen ones in different capacities
I thought that in the comics, only Hal could wield Green Lantern powers without a ring.
The bird was cute and something I’d like to see added as John’s thing in the comics.
According to the reviews I read and seeing the promo for episode 3...The ring was always meant for the nog's dad, that's why he behaves the way he does, it's always been meant for the family line.Hal just got in the way of his dad getting it.And now this lame white man who stole the black man's power finally gets his comeuppance.Enjoy the next episode, cucks.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg3enKwDmD4
>>155160001To show the audience he's a space hobo but in a more ironic fashion
>>155161722Sucks to live like you do
>>155160238>believing Gunnretard.
>>155160348It's sort of mixed, the end product was under Gunn's, but the idea of a new Supergirl movie similar to the Lanterns show started in Hamada's time. That's why they greenlighted it so fast
Does he really not socialize?
>>155161808The joke is that he can't attend meetings or gatherings with other Lanterns because he would just crash into everything as a planet.
White Men BAD
>>155161722Dawg he very clearly got rejected by the Guardians and was jaded over it to the point of putting John through that shit. Also the old bald guy is absolutely Atro right?
Hal's pet should have been Itty
Holy fuck I hope the people saying they like this show on here are trolling, I watched episode 2 and it was fucking awful Every single thing is wrong this is nothing like Green Lantern
>>155161991>this is nothing like Green Lanterntourist
So what are the chances that she is Manhunter?
