Is it true the movie was never truly finished and Disney partially used this movie's art style as direction for character design of The Aladdin? Are Disney kind of the bad guys? Because Lion King seemed heavily inspired/rip off of that other Japanese or Chinese lion movie.
>>155151551No, if you assume either position you're only looking at both projects from a surface-level perspective.
>>155151551I don't think it's true, visually the two movies don't have much in common outside of both being set in the middle east.TT&tC is really aiming for a specific aesthetic used by late Ottoman empire artists, while Aladdin is a very generic western-derived orientalism.I don't think anyone can own the idea of making a movie inspired by the middle east, so even if Disney's people thought of the idea of Aladdin from hearing or seeing parts of TT&tC, the movie they made is so different you can't call it stealing.
Well yeah, but Disney ripped off alot of people prior to the 90s (Don Bluth, Japanimantion, A Bulgarian 80s movie also called "Treasure planet, etc). The Thief and the Cobbler was just notable for a shitton of reasons, from three decade production hell to Williams actually being a lazyass in completing the storyboards to probably reauiring even more decades to animate properly hence why they keep making "Recobbled cuts". There are more but even the internet can explain it better by now...
