Give me examples of cartoons that are ACTUALLY forgot and ACTUALLY underrated. No more "invader zim is forgotten and underrated", everyone knows about that shit.
Is Storm Hawks too well-known for your semantics?
Inhumanoids
>>155207357It qualifies for "forgotten" but does it qualify as "underrated"?
>>155207338This was a really good show. First time I think kid me ever saw a villain that was depicted as genuinely unbeatable and inevitable, it was kind of shocking that literally nothing could be done to it, and there was no explanation of what it was, where it came from, and it never communicates directly. Even the ending is just escaping from it, it's still doing its thing elsewhere in the universe.
>>155207338I get that it was aired on Kids WB at the end of the channel’s life, but still
>>155207338I remember Shadow Raiders War Planets, even got one of the toys.I guess it could be argued it's underrated, but characters like that fire prince are the sort of thing that makes it unlikely to sail with modern audiences.
>>155209370People bring up Inhumanoids' initial miniseries a lot for all the horror stuffNobody really acknowledges it kind of just becomes a typical Sunbow show after thatMetlar literally marries the Statue of LibertyIt's still fun but honestly I think Visionaries is the most underrated of the Hasbro Sunbow showsReally solid animation by TMS and character dynamics that I honestly think would have gotten worse had they introduced more Knights for a Season 2
>>155207357Storm Hawks is underrated but never forgotten (not by those who saw it)
>>155209440Come on, he doesn’t even have an exaggerated accent and is a pretty cool guy all around.
>>155207338This looks like a scene from Reboot where they are all formated to fit some alien game
>>155209442>TMSGoddam it the thread is now ruined!
>>155209398The toys gave an origin for the Beast Planet. It began as a computer chip millions of years ago on some alien civilization and it absorbed everything around it, eventually consuming the planet and other planets
>>155209487There were episodes of this I enjoyed, but I'm not sure I'd call it underrated.
>>155209472Given how the show was different from the toys I assume that the Beast Planet’s origin in the show is something more Lovecraftian given his overall presentation
Skysurfer Strike Force, I found it on some youtube Saturday morning cartoon compilation. It's pretty generic but in motion it does look pretty cool, like the also semi-forgotten (but I think more remembered) Mummies Alive it feels like they were taking influence from Japanese shows with transforming/armored heroes including the same sort of cinematography, if not as well executed.
Night Hood.
>>155207338>literal first scene of the series is Tekla escaping her planet as it's grabbed and pulled into the Beast>her ship computer immediately states "All life on Planet Tek has ceased" Hardcore. Not that it's surprising coming from Mainframe, they were pushing boundaries throughout their 90s shoes
>>155207338>Give me examples of cartoons that are ACTUALLY forgot and ACTUALLY underrated.I got you, OP.Nobody ever brings it up, but this show genuinely had an interesting premise and had a lot going for it character wise and setting wise. Go on, find someone else who knows about it, even though it got a full ass 65 episodes!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO2Cd9tyUvY
>>155209532The worst part is that her planet was just just the tip of the iceberg
>>155209520Yeah, that haircut is unfortunate
>>155209532That show was not shy about killing characters
>>155209582He's not afraid to front and center the norwood. Would that we could all be so brave.
>>155209622My bad, I thought he was actually balding
>>155209511A pic would have helped. They did do a good job with the stock animation sequences IIRC
>>155209398>makes its entrance into the solar system by flying through the Sun without a scratch>immediately vaporizes one of the Battlemoons with a single shot, after they just saved the dayThe Season 1 cliffhanger is great.
>>155209622There is no way they weren't inspired by Lupin III right? Obviously they're drawing on the same source, but that's got the hallmarks of Lupin III's face does to the upturned smile
>>155207338This is great.
>>155209687Is this the only kid’s cartoon where the sociopathic main villain is given a bit of humanity in his final moments?
>>155209670It was CINAR and France Animation, so I think they were doing more like, Moebius and other French similars, but in 1996, it's hard to imagine there wasn't some influence from Monkey Punch, neverminding the same source material. Nobody gave a fuck about this so there's not much information.
>>155207338
>>155209729I think this ran on my local UPN affiliate network and I swear I was only made aware of it through a mail promotion magazine catalogue with a few other cartoons. I don't remember what the fuck was going on with this.
>>155207338I only remember this one because it came with the toy and I thought the dragon-fish?-lady was hot. Cool setting though.
Did anyone else watch The Magician? I think I saw it on Fox Kids? I liked the premise of a stage magician gaslighting as a superhero with real magic.
I'm gonna say Silver Hawks, Hero High, and Ghostbusters (Filmation).SH tends to be remembered once in a while, but gets overshadowed by Thundercats; Hero High I'm sure only a handful here remember it, but it was a fun show I watched as a kid; and GB was, well, really not as bad as people claim it it. It had good villains and a few stories were entertaining enough.
>>155209778I had one of these ripcord monstrosities. I forgot there was a cartoon that came with it.
>>155209771When I was little I liked it because monkey funny. As an adult who’s watched decades of science fiction and classic movies I loved it because they obviously loved writing it.
>>155207338HOLY SHIT a Shadow Raiders thread! i JUST watched and finished this series for the first time ever a couple weeks ago, and i haven't even been on /co/ for a while so the timing of this thread is perfect
>>155209809Fox had so many shows like this come and go, I swear.
>>155209818I'm checking it out now and I see what you mean. The writers are clearly extremely talented and having a great time with it. Also a very uniquely 90s sense of humor, kind of a time capsule of the mentality. Thanks for bringing it up.
>>155209863Did you like it?
>>155209440why wouldn't people like Pyrus? if anything, i think Femur would be more likely to be a problem with modern audiences
>>155209895Scott sure had a blast voicing him>>155209906Why, he gets pummeled and humiliated every time like Johnny Bravo and I don’t see anyone complaining about the former? If anything Pelvus would be controversial due to his mannerisms being very, peculiar to say the least
>>155209895hell yeah! and i've started to develop a fixation with Canadian voice actors having watched this, Beast Wars, ReBoot, and Rollbots (also a show that fits this thread's theme
>>155207338How obscure is Katie and Orbie?
>>155209906Femur is a slimeball that gets his ass whooped for it, it's normal
>>155209931Scott McNeil is a great voice actor period. the guy's got some good range and his characters are always entertaining to watch. Garry Chalk was also great in this show, Femur is easily one of the funniest parts of the show
>>155209971Yeah, I like that the accents of the two Beast’s agents didn’t make them less intimidating (well, maybe Lamprey).
I remember saturday mornings on my local TV station in 1998>6:00am: Dragon Ball Z (Ocean Dub)>6:30am: Shadow Raiders>7:00am: Beast Wars>7:30am: Power Rangerswe didn't know how good we had it
>>155209722From what I recall he went more insane as time went on.
>>155209661
>>155210018Our situation is a classic fable about the importance of appreciation.
>>155210231>Oh, that shit's just gone.
>>155210270
>>155210353
>>155209459It's the same studio.
>>155209459it's from Mainframe, who did Reboot and Beast Wars
>>155210361>does absolutely nothing to itLove it. Literally all you can do is flee.

>>155210415
>>155210417Shit, I remember coming up an OC for Mutant League. I'm sure it was derivative as fuck but still has that gross out 90's charm. Now that I think of it I had ones for Beetlejuice and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters too.
anybody else here seen HotWheels World Racers? it was also animated by Mainframe
>>155210426MEIN DIGITS
would Lamprey have come back in season 3 if the show didn't get canceled? i found it strange that she just got crushed by a Pool table and seemingly vanished when throughout the entire show the beast drones are shown to be almost completely indestructible because of their null matter
>>155209687Came in to say this. This show was top fuckin tier. Absolute tradgedy it got canned and got left on a cliffhanger.Least the Neosapien war ended at the least.
>>155210417Klutter sucked, it dragged down Eek and TTL hard.
>>155210417How did Eek fall into obscurity? I remember it being moderately popular in its day, but I haven't heard anyone even namedrop it in years.
>>155209725Lupin 3 had been a hit in france in the 80s, so it absolutely was am influence
>>155210263Sauce?
>>155211599STARCOM
>>155211244Fox Kids died, and most of its shows dont really get rerun or are oddly hard to find.
well sir
I'm just a miner
Grade A cunt
>>155209538I remember it, it's actually what I thought of when I saw the thread title. Can confirm, Spiral Zone was actually pretty decently written for a toy cartoon, and you're right about the premise.
>>155209661>"But why did the Beast attack us from halfway across the system?">"Quite simply, to show that it can."Peak
>>155212117I was so happy when this fuck face got killed.
>>155209661I still to this day wrack my brain over how they could have destroyed the Beast Planet had the series been allowed to finish. They tried everything imaginable. Their greatest weapons could not scratch it. They used planet fire to suicide ram the claw and break it. Didn't work. Rigged a planet to blow up inside of it where it would have been most vulnerable. Not a scratch on it. Could not outrun it. It emerging from the inside of a star showed not even that would hurt it either. The only thing I could think of would maybe be a black hole, but even then it might not be enough.
>>155212117Absolutely correct, at least he did something slightly heroic in his final moments.
>>155212606Ultimately I think it's best the series ended at S2, there's enough of a conclusion for all the characters that it doesn't feel like it just stopped, the heroes are finally safe, the recurring villain is dead, and the final scene of the Beast still going somewhere else in the galaxy is a more unique and eerie end note.
>>155209809I liked it.
>>155211692You can blame Disney. They own the vast majority of the Fox Kids library and have basically done nothing with any of it beyond the Marvel toons since Jetix died.
>no HD release
>>155212619It's not really a happy ending, since all the worlds that the beast consumes is on their heads for sending to their direction. The one person who seemed like she would have had a solution for destroying the Beast Planet would have been Tekla. But she seemed to be forgotten about entirely by the time the second season was made.
>>155212675I have seen HD remasters for a few episodes on youtube. But this show never had a complete DVD release. It would be nice if the fans of ReBoot and Beast Wars could try to shake the dust off this, and make something. happen
>>155212707Reboot was getting a remaster wasn't it?
>>155209687>find a clone of the main villain>can't prosecute him because he didn't actually do anything>can't let him free because he's still a clone of the villainReally cool shit there
>>155210417>Creeply CrawliesGot the name wrong, it's Creepy Crawlers. This was based on a toy that was like an EZ bake oven for boys except you make gross rubber insects with it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZjORUc5DTw
>>155212117Actually thought he could solo the Beast planet with those fucking Moons lmao
I liked this as a kid but appreciate it much more now. The character design is cool, the villains are cool, the art is detailed and animation is good. Villains are fun characters like a fat chicago gangster, a himbo, a muscle woman, a mad scientist with an exposed brain in a glass dome, a rich girl who goes jewel thief for the thrill and falls in love with one of the heroes, a pallid corpse-looking guy in a fedora who has machine guns pop out of his cybernetic torso, etc. Oh and one of the heroes has a pet robot dog.
>>155210417Terrible Thunderlizards was about a squad of 3 heavily armed dinosaurs who were tasked with destroying the first 2 humans due to a belief that they would bring about doom for dinosaur society if they multiplied. Humorously they are both male and are a classic odd couple with the cheerful optimistic one accidentally tormenting the other with his inventions. The dinosaurs always fail to catch the humans despite their firepower. Typically the dynamic of the dinosaurs chasing the humans resolves with both encountering the Thuggosaurs, a 'greater evil' who are basically a cult of skeletal undead hooded dinosaurs.Imho this is the best episode, the dinosaurs introduce the first female human, a bioengineered female called the B.A.B.S unit to seduce and capture the humans. Peak waifu, some sexist jokes, and the irony of the fact that the dinosaurs probably accidentally destroyed themselves by making humans able to breed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JezflA6n7Fc
>>155212675mainframe remastered the first episode and put it on their youtube channel, hopefully they will remaster the rest of the series
>>155210018Thats a heavy action set for 6am
>>155213387My only experience with this is a Bad Unboxing Idubbbz did long before he fell off obviously of a Bug’s Life-themed one of these, and near the end of the video he literally just fucking swallows a gulp of the raw chemical glue as a bit
>>155213458>pallid corpse-looking guy in a fedora who has machine guns pop out of his cybernetic torsoHe was my favorite as a kid. I lived in a small town and never saw a single toy for this show on the shelves. Woulda loved to have him fight my Joe's.

>>155207338It was the first show I watched as a kid where there were stakes and consequences, where the heroes didn't always win and it fucking ruled, the bit where the beast planet comes out of the sun is seared into my brain
>>155216564Yeah, those in-game cutscenes? I can see it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMJ7S4iwXScRoughnecks also gave me similar vibes
>>155219951Just report it for spamming
>>155207338It was actually a very solid fantasy show with lots of lore and character designs.

>>155207338It is entirely possible you remember WildKats if only for the weridly jazzy themesong if nothing else. You probably do not remember the other "We have X-Men At Home!"
>>155221717Lmao I remember watching this and thinking it was cool, then telling my mom I watched a Siegfried and Roy cartoon and seeing her look slightly alarmed. She might have said she didn't think they should be making a kids show about them or something.
>>155209445It was only good for the couple of eps Suzi Lu was in it. Sexy-ass canuck dog-bunny...
>>155209778I got whacked in the forehead with one at Toys R Us once. Just walked past the registers and *PAP*. Some little kid was playing with it, no idea if it had been paid for already but that shit was out of the package.
>>155209816The girls version was Skydancers. The cartoon is good for ridiculing, especially the dance scenes. And the ending theme song is surprisingly good.

>>155222404Prime was interesting to watch. He had the mind of a child and he had to hide his secret identity. I remember him bickering often with Prototype, because both were more immature than their looks suggested.
>>155209729Never revisited this but remember deeply loving it
>>155215322>pterdocatyl guyHe's a hadrosaur, specifically a parasaurolophus., and Squat is Hudson from Aliens. Never did figure out who Kutter is supposed to be.
>>155216564Yeah, Rock dudes kinda had the Terran aesthetic, Ice and Tekla were Protoss-y, and at a stretch Bone had a bit of Zerg in their design. Fire was their own thing.
>>155207357Just started it thanks to your post. Piper is cute.
>>155225522>those digitsholy shit
>>155222404Ultraforce was more an edgier JL/Avengers.Prime's Venom + Captain Marvel, Prototype's Warmachine, Hardcase is a more put together Wonder Man minus an ionic form, Ghoul is Dead Man, Topaz is more like Zealot than Wonder Woman but I'm not sure if they knew that when they made her angry Interdimensional Wonder Woman, Contrary is Charles + Emma, and Pixx's powers are nothing like Kitty or Jubilee but she's clearly the team's baby sister. If it weren't for extremely damning charges and poor business decisions Malibu and the Ultraverse might have actually cooked a bit more before Marvel bought and filed it away.
