Is Mystic knights of Tir Na Nog /co/?
>>155229463No but it's not a goon thread or death battle or culture war so keep going This show was fucking awesome and sometimes I think about it when I remember throwing all the toys on the roof of my parents shed for some reason as I was kind of retarded
COMICSANDCARTOONS
>>155229492Wasn't sure where to post it, it's pretty sentailike, so I was thinking of /m/, but then I figured it was more like something /co/ might prefer.Anyways, which was your favorite knight? Mine was the red one because 10 year old me thought swords were cool and all other mystic weapons were lame.
>>155229562>Wasn't sure where to post it, it's pretty sentailike, so I was thinking of /m/,/tv/ you fucking idiotHell, /m/ accepts it as tokusatsu as well
I was glued to the screen whenever this one aired. Imagine my surprise like five years afterward when I learned about how the show butchered Irish mythology.>>155229562>all other mystic weapons were lameWhaat, slandering the ranged morgenstern. Blasphemy. And Angus was always my favourite, he was the fun one. Rohan, Ivar and Garett were all kinda one note and Deirdre was the resident angry killjoy. Best girl was obv picrel.
>>155229562I think I liked everyone except the black guy (blue/water) which I wonder is because child me was racist or just because those were the toys I had. The huge ones with all the extra armour were amazing. Actually my mom found an old McDonalds toy I had hidden in their shed last year let me try to find it

>>155229463I liked that they didn't have a real Toku budget so they had to keep reusing the same villain monsters It was charmingly low budget
I remember one of them being strangely ethnic for ancient Ireland.
>>155230652They did bother with a foreign prince on a mission excuse. And it was a remarkably monoethnic series otherwise.
>>155229562I liked the spiked mace weapon, I think it was the first time I'd seen a flail so I liked that it worked differently
>>155229492>we have to accept off topic threads because the technically on topic threads are so shitGrim.
>>155229463The Mystic Knights needs a flashy remake with Bop-swords and a million collectible items that unlock cool sounds from inside the swords.
>>155229529>all the live-action SatAM left to wander /tv/ orphaned and alone
>>155229463I don't think so.>>155229492Agree on Mystic Knights being awesome. It was one of the few kids series to be based on Celtic/ Welsh mythology
>>155229463Never heard of it. How is it? I've been on a bit of a Tokusatsu kick lately. Been watching a couple Kamen Rider shows. Curious how these would have been handled.
>>155232453It worked for Ultraman
>>155229463Wtf? There is an Irish power rangers show and nobody told me?
>>155229463Let's try to make it more /co/, should Mystic Knights get an animated remake or a comic? If so, would it lost its charm as 100% Western Toku?
>>155229463I want to go to ranger con dressed as a Mystic Knight.
>>155233038Not our problemPiss off roach
>>155235526I wouldn't mind a Mystic Knights or Power Rangers(long as its not MMPR) cartoon.
>>155229859> Imagine my surprise like five years afterward when I learned about how the show butchered Irish mythology.Butchered as it may be, I respect them actually using it as a source for inspiration over a more commonly used one. These myths remain relevant through breaking a few eggs.
>>155230652>>155230788I think it was Robin of Sherwood that established that if you needed a nonwhite actor in your European period piece, to just say he was a wandering Moor or prisoner of war or something like that. It addresses the elephant in the room while allowing you to cast at least a few nonwhite actors( or whatever demographic wouldn’t have been likely to be in your historic piece. Shogun for example uses the same idea to put Europeans in feudal Japan )
>>155229562>Wasn't sure where to post it, it's pretty sentailike, so I was thinking of /m/, but then I figured it was more like something /co/ might preferYou're such a fucking retardGfdi if you were somehow even dumber you wouldn't even be able to breathe without someone reminding you to
>>155235714Did anyone recognize?
>>155230523Gracias señor
>>155235282I used to watch it, but can't remember shit about it.The good guys had to find their own mystic weapons and then unlock them to get the armor powerup, then they could beat the Welsh Rita's evil monsters.Only thing I could remember from this show was its intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NygYaOhuMZo
>>155229562I liked the leader because I'm all about the fire element. That and I loved his "It's morphin' time" phrase. Where the others said, "Air above me!", "Water around me!", and "Earth beneath me!", his was, "Fire WITHIN me!" and I just thought that was so cool when I was a lad.
>>155239178>"Air above me!", "Water around me!", "Earth beneath me!", "Fire within me!"I also loved the morphin phrases, and I liked how they managed to work in a Sixth (well, Fifth) Ranger by giving him the Nature/Woods element with the “Forest before me!” phrase.Too bad he didn't have an evil knight counterpart; instead, he had to fight a crappy CGI giant spider to get the armor.
>>155235526A Mystic Knight cartoon would be pretty based if they ever get the rights cleared up.
>>155235526I think that there definitely an appetite for it. I think that Ngozi Ukazu could do it.
>>155236220Shogun is the worst example you could use as it explicitly is set prior to the sakoku policy, when Japan was actively engaged in foreign trade with Europe.
