I don't know about any of you, but I love getting on wiby.me, Internet Archive, or just fucking around on old Keenspot and trying to scrounge up whatever I can find. Forgotten webcomics, old scans of the comics that inspired them, shitty Flash animations you can't find literally anywhere else. It's a real thrill, especially considering so many pages are disintegrating by the minute, hanging on by a Ruffle extension and a decrepit, long-forgotten host server. If any of you engage in such activities, or would like to, please share whatever you find/have found here and where you found it.Image is from the Faans! webcomic (faans.com)
>>155236027Goodman Goes Playboy, found on an old Blogspot full of other cool, albeit somewhat broken stuff: http://therainer.blogspot.com/2008/05/goodman-goes-playboy-by-kurtzman-and.html
>>155236027Ruby Gloom wallpaper found on the defunct ruby gloom.com website, along with at least 11 others, you can wade through the Wayback Machine but basically all of them are available elsewhere, just not all in one place
>>155236027Provenance in the title, I have no idea how popular this webcomic was in its heyday but it seems that it's still going
>>155236345"filename" I mean, lol
>>155236027it's sad how often they are just gone for good.. a huge chunk, at least 200 comics I once followed are now dead, either not archives or incompletely archived.>>155236345hehe. Literal puns are a spookywriter's dream
>>155236027One day while sifting through Google Images, I came across this Tapas webcomic that petered out after two posts.https://tapas.io/episode/1488594It's not much as it's a lot later than you would expect, but it's a very rare relic of when earnesty and emotional vulnerability were always a given. Seeing old comics breaks my heart as all of that was pushed away in favour of a virulent panacea of irony and performant acts.
>>155237824it's hard to think of anything on tapas as being from an older time.>reads itcute, but this is not rare or a relic at all, this is what most tapas comics are like.
>>155237977Normally I'd agree, but pre-COVID might as well be another universe entirely. Any semblance of honesty got killed off once the decade started. I try to keep that part of me alive while not falling to the follies of those who call for dagoodoledaze, but it hurts me to see remnants of emotional vulnerability knowing how prevalent irony as a means of social sustenance has become. There's another autobiographical comic that's still up after all this time and it's a lot older (2014), but it's about a woman going through college life and the many events she's visited and what was going on in her life. It's almost entirely frozen in amber since its last update ten years ago, I'm actually a bit scared to share it since I'm afraid there'll be new comments posted trampling what is pretty much a delicate, fragile garden. I found it about three years ago and even I could tell there was something different compared to the new comics I've read, even before a friend spelled out to me what was "missing".
>>155237824Mmm... Tapas...
bump
>>155236027>on old Keenspotwhy did the popularity of that site decline so hard? could it happen to sites now like webtoon?
>>155236294>http://therainer.blogspot.com/2008/05/goodman-goes-playboy-by-kurtzman-and.htmlDo you know if you can find the flash animations?>>155236250Nice.
>>155236294cute
>>155238113https://ithinkincomics.com/Alright, so this is the comic in question. It's a time capsule of a comic and I like reading what was relevant at its time, and her style's also been an influence on me. This level of earnestness is practically rare, if not extinct now; even shit like Pizzacakecomic has this nasty twinge of hostility, so it's nice to read something that's very straight forward and not two-faced...
>>155244181god i miss comics that were just blogs with doodles. you cant have hyperbole and a half style comics anymore we forgot how to make them
>>155242035why the fuck are you pouring gasoline between cans in your laundry room
