it earns its reputation but i'm going to go out on a limb and say any robertryan cory-centric episode like the two faces of squidward or face freezethe writing on those two are shite but the art is really good. it's quite obvious in those episodes that the writers set up gags for cory to write and it kind of begs the question on why there wasn't just an art book dedicated to cory's workgoo goo gas is one of the better although underlooked episodes in trying to hide that it's just a car for cory to drive, but i still wish there's at least a collection of his work somewhere. ginny hawes does some good work too

>>155237906It's not the most underrated, but Season 9 Episode 12 - Lost in Bikini Bottom is a pretty good (2012) nu-bob episode that actually feels like a season 3 episode, writing and joke wise. It also has some different looking animation when compared to the earlier season 9 episodes and later season 9 episodes, which is odd. Side tangent, but I also noticed that same sort of thing in Season 17 Episode 1 - The SquarePants Method. It has really good almost movie-like animation and good jokes with slow pacing, which is crazy for being a really new episode. It's so weird they just shit out something good randomly and then go back to making 10 ADHDslop episodes that're all smear frames and callbacks about bubblebass spreading his butt on camera while they introduce a new character who only licks feet or vores people or some thinly veiled fetish.
