2000s Nick had extremely bizarre scheduling.>Catdog ended in 2001, but five episodes were withheld until 2003-2005>Rocket Power had a random season 2 episode that aired as part of season 4>The last season of Hey Arnold premiered in 2000 and aired spontaneously until finishing in 2004>The last episode of Wild Thornberrys aired a year after the rest of season 5>Rugrats mostly ended in 2002, but a few random episodes from season 9 (and season 8 for some reason) aired in 2003, plus a single episode late in 2004>Chalkzone randomly stopped airing on Nick in 2005 and dumped the remaining eps to Nicktoons Network in 2008>MLAATR also did the same>Nick stopped airing As Told by Ginger in 2004 with 8 episodes unaired. 1 ep on Nicktoons in 2004, another ep on Nicktoons two years later, 4 eps on TeenNick 10 fucking years later, last 2 eps on Paramount+ five years later
I always thought it was wild that the entire second season of Zim, save for the Christmas special, didn’t air until half a decade later on Nicktoons.
Nick in the 2000's was a complete disaster, and the ATLA community had a frontline to the devastation. Spongebob reruns had absolute priority, so new episodes of other shows would be shelved for years just to be stealthily aired when people stopped caring. And because nobody cared, they did worse than Spongebob, so even more priority to Spongebob was given.It wasn't TTG levels of wall to wall marathons, but it was bad. Meanwhile around the same time Cartoon Network had a far more even block of shows.

The hindsight knowledge of this makes reading literally any bizarre scheduling behavior from Nick feel a lot more passive aggressive and malicious, just the knowledge they weren’t above killing their own show
It’s kinda autistic to say this but I think Nickelodeon must’ve been run in a very ‘this is children’s entertainment so it doesn’t matter’ kind of way, that’s the only explanation I could possibly think of for ordering a shit load of (likely expensive) animation and then just letting it pile up unused

I just assumed they switched execs and the new execs wanted to kill certain shows. because there's no way the strategy was to make sure these shows lasted. I remember them burning all the Danny Phantom season 3 episodes in a month or maybe it was even a week. And it's like why would you do that? Like they already made their decision Danny Phantom was over and they didn't want to give it to chance to get to season 4
