I can't remember. We barely see the parents so it's not brought up a lot. I was looking up information right now on TV Tropes and apparently Uncle Oswidge is their mother's brother. I guess he's black like her? He's even voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.(also sidenote, my computer just came to a crawl once I turned off adblocker on TV Tropes.)I'd like to imagine it's the mom who married in. Not that they care about ethnicity make up in the world building but I feel it makes more sense for her to be the foreign element rather than a native royalty to what's ostensibly a european middle ages fantasy world.
It was kinda like Freaks and Geeks mixed with a tiny bit of South Park, which makes sense because the shows creator was an animator on South Park.
