Can you help me with something I don't understand? I just started reading this and I get that Red Sonja and Conan are owned by separate entities now. But why is Red Sonja still able to use stuff from the Hyborian Age like Cimmeria, Mitra etc.?

They eventually agreed to share the setting and some of the cast of characters (like Kulan Gath or Thulsa Doom), but at the cost of never being allowed to mention the main character of the other franchise (Conan cannot mention Red Sonja; Red Sonja cannot mention Conan).

There have been two official crossover series since the separation of Conan and Red Sonja (and obviously they're allowed to speak to each other there), but that's been it.

>>155277058Robert E Howard created Conan. Marvel adapted REH's stuff. Roy Thomas created Red SonJa (with a J) loosely off REH'S Red SonYa (With a Y.) After Marvel lost/cancelled their Conan book the Conan license bounced around but SonJa being a marvel creation was a separate license. As to why they used the Hyborean stuff? Eh, it's status of public domain is up for grabs and REH based a lot of his writings on other stuff too so it's kind of a legal gray area. Stop over thinking things. Even the different Conan books aren't really in continuity with each other.
