How exactly were Guy Gardner and John Henry Irons roommates and football teammates in college when Guy is explicitly stated to have attended University of Michigan and John Henry is explicitly stated to have attended Yale? Also, why do the Michigan Wolverines ostensibly wear red and white in the DC Universe? Does anybody on editorial staff do their jobs? It seems like they haven’t for at least the past 30 odd years.

At most it's just using a chance encounter to highlight their intended career paths from their personalities.Aside from the color of their shirts it's not like the two are going on about working for in the STEEL industry and joining the CORPS.
