i remember how disappointed i was when gummigoo got killed off. it would've been so interesting to see the dynamic between people who think they're human and gummigoo who was never human to begin with. also a huge missed opportunity for gummigoo to be able to guide the cast through the mental health crisis of discovering they're all ai brainscans, because he knows what it's like first hand to learn that he's not real, and be able to cope with that. but nope, he just dies. there's a correlation to be drawn between how gummigoo's and jax's characters are handled. their potential is wasted but the way it's executed is poor. caine could've just put gummigoo in stasis and wiped his mind but he was killed off, making him a murderer. and pomni doesn't get mad at caine for this at all. it makes caine's redemption feel undeserved. how many more npcs equivalent in intelligence to the human brainscans has he killed off? jax abstracts and is left to stew in his own personal hell forever. the potential to unabstract everyone is wasted and it's implied everyone else who abstracted is suffering eternally.in both cases characters are built up and their potential wasted in a way that ruins other aspects of the show.
