It's about time we admitted that South Park covering current events was a massive mistake. Abandoning the original season 1-3 vision killed the show. After they went this route, nupark became inevitable.
It's time to go back to simple adventures.

Trey is a sellout dipshit loser
>>
>>155364548
The irony of the "special edition" joke they made about the first seasons is palpable.

This
People think this started with trump when in reality, the seeds of shit were planted far sooner
>>
>>155364548
What would a South Park movie be about if it were made today?
>>
>>155364548
Ironic as he literally made an episode against it.

Trey is a faggot for this, South Parks classic era seasons were revolutionary and countercultural, not as good as the golden age, but were overall really funny and charming despite being tonally different, being clearly Peanuts and Monty Python-inspired.

Seasons 5-15 were the shows golden age, maybe a bit near the end of those seasons there was a silver age, but "You’re Getting Old" was definitely the shows turning point IMO and is where the downfall began.
>>
>>155364712
Way different considering a lot of the character choices for this cover don't even match the show at the time. They are especially trying too hard to make Token a thing.
>>
South Park always sucked
>>
>>155364866
What do Matt and Trey think of Monty Python now? They’ve played such a big part in their early career there’s no way they just hate their style of comedy now

hi there mr Parker
whatever dude, you are still a sellout loser. You've become everything that your younger self used to despise and make fun of

That sounds impressive when you're a bitter leftist faggot, but some people don't sell out money

I mean, token has had speaking roles and entire episodes since season 4
I mean, dog poo of all people is also on the cover

I just don't like seeing black characters desu
I'm tired of pretending that it's anything else
I just want an all white cast
>>
>>155365033
The movie is halfway through season 3. He only had two lines of filler dialogue from Trey back then. I just pointed out Token because of how they are trying too hard with him. I think Dog Poo is odd too.

That was my favorite South Park...

>dude I'm a millionaire but I'm so ashamed of my history, I wish I could erase my past but no won't end the show or give the money away

This is like when Billie Eilish was talking about stolen land while living in a mansion. It's like some weird humiliation ritual white leftists do to assure everyone they're total faggots but still want to benefit from it

I’ve seen someone once say "South Park failed to adapt to a post culture war and gamergate culture the same way The Simpsons failed to adapt to a post-9/11 world"
>>
>>155364866
>>155364993
Not really related, but I just realized Monty Python is now getting really old. Seems like its relevance will endure to an extent, but maybe it's going to seem like The Three Stooges to people soon.
>>155365166
It's more just the standard thing of people being ashamed of their earlier creations, whether they should or not. You see it all the time. From Matt and Trey's perspectives, I imagine they think they got better over time and see the early work as flawed. Arguably true for seasons 4-9 vs 1-3, but after that I find it hard to hard for the later seasons over the first three.
>>
>>155364548
South park peaked in season 1 thru 6
>>
>>155364866
Seasons 1-8 is what I consider the Golden Age. Ms. Garrison just wasn't as funny or clever as Garrison being gay and killing off Chef left a hole the show could never fill, but there are still some amazing episodes I can't picture the show without like The Losing Edge, Ginger Kids, Make Love Not Warcraft, and Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy to name a few. Seasons 11-14 are like 50% good and 50% boring. Like a quarter of the episodes from seasons 15-17 are good with 16 having it the worst. 18 onwards is the dark age.
>>
>>155364548
why does he think it was the most popular show on TV before it even had 3 seasons?
>>
>>155365201
SP at its core has always attracted the worst types of people
>>
>>155365201
The fanbase is rotting like the show.
>>
>>155365201
because the show itself has been a cesspool since 2008 or so

>I just realized Monty Python is now getting really old
It's really, really weird to see something that was an absolute juggernaut of nerd culture fade out of relevance. But I guess it's just inevitable with the passage of time. Nobody really watches Westerns anymore despite that genre being probably the biggest thing in Cinema for a 50-year period.
>>
>>155364548
I stopped watching after the first PC Principal season. That season still had a few one offs but the serialized shit doesn't really do it for me except for a few small cases. I think Trey and Matt kind of lost their Troma roots. Also we need another Goth Kids episode stat
>>
>>155364548
Pretty sure that's a fairly cold take, though I'm sure the exact point the show went to shit depends on who you ask.
The same thing happened with the Animaniacs reboot (and a few other legacy shows, I suppose) where they got so addicted to Current Events and taking sides on everything that they forget to give two shits about the writing or jokes and it just turns into cringe and ages like milk left out on a hot counter.
Earlier South Park and OG Animaniacs made fun of shit going on, but they'd target everyone and remember to turn Current Thing into jokes that you could laugh at regardless of who you are, even if you support the thing they're making fun of.

>>155365166
Living in a mansion built on some tribe's land too. IIRC nobody could goad the tribe into saying much about it though. Would've been super funny if the internet could've riled them up, but they were too chill, IIRC.

SP was already garbage by then
said season is from 2015 iirc
SP has been utter garbage since 2008

After having watched the first few seasons over again, Trey is right! Season 1 is rough with poor comedic timing, season 2 is mainly just poor gags without much edge or kick and weak plots; season 3 is the only season actually worth a damn. Every true fan has always said the goldern era is post BLAU till season 15-ish, with the almost limit being Season 19. Ever since South Park has made fun of the orange man, every South Park thread has just been anons upset over it. I don't even like those seasons
>>
>Milhouse being retarded again
This is why nobody likes you.
