And that's it. If you liked this, support your LCS or whatever.

Reading bump
Modern digital colouring is awful.
>>155393900bumping for reading
>>155393902Somehow, I feel like he's stretching the truth enough to impress Mr Fantastic.
>>155393919>Not even a thought for RhodyC'mon Tony
>>155393919It's so obvious it's Happy the only question is if Williamson is gonna do a hasty swerve to try and stick it to the people who've figured it out
>>155395400>>155393997Ah, spoke too soon
>>155393900black & gold bump
>>155393919No Janice or Kevin? Actually, who is that on the right? I'd assume Ayisha, but she doesn't quite match since being kept forcibly alive at last appearance.
>>155393900>>155393902Whiplash, your name is Mark and your wife was killed before you were. Mind telling us how you're alive?
>>155393967Whiplash's origin was always being a weapons designer who made himself into a supervillain merc, not sure if him working for Stark was ever a thing before here though.>>155395400It's always more satisfying if a plot like this plays out the way it was meant to, even if some people figured it out. If you change it for a last minute swerve because you don't want anyone to figure it out, it usually means you don't really have a story to tell, you just have a shock moment.
>>155393900>>155393902Some "hero" Iron Man is. I can't believe he did all that to poor Marco
>>155394003Huh, that was Kathy? My "dead person identification" skills need more work.>>155397027He worked at the Cincinnati division for a bit as part of a job, but that was after he was already Whiplash. Even Tony points out how his memory of the situation isn't quite right, but wonder how much is intentionally off compared to copy errors.
>>155393997Would have preferred it to be Zemo as a swerve. >>155393967This is a hardcore retcon. Whiplash was a Maggia (Marvel's Mafia counterpart) assassin. Later writers made him bipolar and estranged from his family because of his mob/super villain ties and adding to this, he's also a blonde not brunette. While it's nice he's back, this is pretty much yet another INO version of the character.
The half faceplate is a cool look for an introspective issue
>>155397732Presumably Zemo would have something better to do than babysit Tony. At most he should be just a background element.
>>155397027>you just have a shock moment.see West world
>>155393997Fucking called it, but then again, who else could it have been? And is it just me, or does he look like Miles O'Brien from Star Trek?
>>155397732To be fair, Tony does call him out for this and Whiplash's flashback narration paints a very rosy picture of his background anyway so it's likely to be inaccurate.
>>155397048Actually no, tony didn't kill him.The ironman armor came back to life after it was hit by lightning and killed whiplash in order to protect tony.
>>155394496>Happy the iron patriotI knew it
>>155394003>actually planning to go past issue 10 and looking ahead to April 2027i'm honestly shocked that a Marvel book will make it to double digits
>first time i've cared about an iron man run since warren ellis and the knaufshow did Josh Williamson do it?
>>155393914Is Zemo ever going to get to go back to how he was in Thunderbolts?
>>155400377I don't think so.
>>155400241So what do you guys expect for ironman #700?I'm expecting the return of the Mandarin or a story featuring the TitaniumMan.
>>155400586Mandarin sounds like a good choice.
>>155394496>while a familiar face takes on a new mantle as IRON PATRIOT!It'd better be Norman.>>155397732>This is a hardcore retcon. Whiplash was a Maggia (Marvel's Mafia counterpart) assassin. What little backstory he had was that he was a former weapons designer before he became Whiplash.
>>155400586I'm still not sure Marvel would ever feel comfortable doing another Mandarin story since you would get people complaining about negative cultural stereotypes
>>155400110A likely story to absolve Tony of his crimes
>>155400564That's a shame. I just read Born Better the other day and from what I know that's his last outing before being reverted to nazi villain
>>155397732I mean to be fair he made his own whip. Tho i thought the Mark to Marco name plus the background of him working at stark industries was an direct copy of his plan in IronMan #62 but nope he still uses Mark in there.
>>155396870I think the red head is Bethany and the other one is ayisha from ironman 400.I'm at least glad they remembered slag but it would have been nice for him to remember Kevin.
>>155393919I know that's probably some other character but I think it would be really funny if Tony just randomly felt guilty for the death of Lucia Von Bardas
>>155401219His name is odd. This is the first name, and his reappearances in the ML first run uses it, then he gets Scarlotti as his family's name in a Marvel Team-Up story with Rhodey Iron Man and Spider-Man that focuses on him, and then like a decade after he is dead an Infinity tie-in comic has someone call him Marco as the former Whiplash.
>>155401570It's like someone screwed up a decade ago and Marvel are doubling down on it rather than just ignoring an obvious mistake. It's nice to have the guy back but this is just irritating, especially since it's happened to both Whiplashes.
>>155401753I don't think they recognize it as a mistake.
>>155402007How do they not know it's a mistake? How are they seeing that one random comic from 2014 or whenever mentioning him by the wrong name as correct and literally everything else as wrong?
>>155393997synergy?
>>155402496Nah happy has been dead for almost 20 years, this is just the writer reviving him probably to expand the cast.
>>155398789Zemo actually has nothing better to do if and when he is brought back and him being forced to tag along with Tony, with Tony helping ease him back into anti hero status would go a long way to undo the character assassination he's suffered the last couple of decades
>>155402658I genuinely don't understand why anyone would want Baron Zemo to be an antihero in the first place. It was never a good idea and those weren't good comics. Why is it always arch-villains like that who you people want to do this with instead of just letting them be villains? At least unlike Doc Ock and the various X-Men villains this has happened with, nobody's ever going to do that again with Zemo because he used to be a Nazi which now means he's always a Nazi.
>>155397732Well of course, every villain must now by a sympathetic person done wrong. I like Will o' the Wisp a whole lot but every villain being Will o' the Wisp is lame.
>>155402802New gag please. Read Thunderbolts.Zemo's redemption arc was up there with Rogue and Sandman's redemption arc and that it was soul crushing watching hacks like Brubaker and Joe Kelly shit all over him undoing it.
>>155402565For anyone who doesn't know, Millar's original pitch for Civil War had a much smaller opening incident, in which Speedball's botched intervention in a 7-11 robbery would have resulted in Happy Hogan catching a stray bullet and getting killed. The Knaufs recently came on board as Iron Man writers as Marvel were building up to Civil War, and as the opening of the event got changed to the New Warriors fighting Nitro and the Stamford explosion, the Knaufs went from being told Happy was getting killed in Civil War to deciding that if Millar wasn't killing him, but it had been on the table as something Marvel was willing to do, they wanted to tell that story. So in the middle of Civil War, the third version of Spymaster breaks into a Stark factory to steal something, and Happy fights him, they both fall from a great height, Spymaster walks away but Happy took a serious head injury, he's in a coma and facing life as a vegetable if he survives. Pepper tells Tony a story of how Happy knew an old boxer who ended up like that, and how he'd said he'd rather be dead. Pepper begged Tony to use his Extremis powers to cause Happy's life support machines to fail just long enough for him to die, and nobody would ever know he'd done it. And then it's ambiguous whether Tony really did do it or if the machine just happened to fail anyway. Then a year or two later the Iron Man movie was out and you wonder why they were so set on killing one of the guys who was in the movie. A similar thing happened with the Hulk book killing Abomination before the movie.
>>155403782I did not care for Thunderbolts, and would have preferred if all of those characters had stayed villains, but Zemo was particularly egregious.
>>155393997>Tony gave Pepper the Rescue suit only for her ex husband to be revivedTony should take the suit back and give it to Emma Frost.
>>155405262>That old thing?
>>155404135>Then a year or two later the Iron Man movie was out and you wonder why they were so set on killing one of the guys who was in the movie. A similar thing happened with the Hulk book killing Abomination before the movie.tbf i prefer random inconsistencies between the films and the comics than forced synergy for the films in the comics
>>155399404shame they only made one season
>>155403782Meh.
>>155393899Wow, I can't believe that this is only the 9th Iron Man comic that has ever been made. I was sure he was character that had been around for a long time. They really dropped the ball on promoting this character even with the MCU popularity, huh? Thats not even 1 issue per year since the MCU started. So they just hate money? What could possibly have made them sit on their ass for so long?
>>155393914>Me from the future>Clone>Teenage meWhat's really funny is that I'm pretty sure Tony's current canon actually qualifies as all three of those
>>155393997How is this shocking? It’s fucking boring that he’s back
Bump
I'll give this one final bump, I think the art is decent enough and I'm enjoying the run even if the twist isn't great
>>155393919Honestly when is the last time that Tony cared about happy being dead?
>>155415224Fractions run maybe Tom Taylor's was the last time he was brought up properly since the entire reason inverted Tony help that mutant kid was because of his connection to Happy
>>155414684The art is garbage.
>>155393928I like that sun-gleaming-over-the-horizon effect the artist did
>>155419018Based Desperate Necrobump-anon.
>>155393900Bump.
