Just how fucked is the future for the animation industry?
People who studied shit that actually matters can't get jobs and here's this bitch crying that no one will pay her to make cartoons.
some of the most successful people in the world dropped out or never went to university.the key is already having tons of money from your parents so you cn create your won stuff.
>>155393965Bro just ask your parents for some seed money and create an indie animation
>>155393965Imagine going to the best animation school and coming out only able to draw beanmouth.
>>155393965>Can't even go indie because I'm not rich enough to hire people and not seasoned enough to animate, write, voice, and edit it entirely myself. I can practice and still do but let's be real, we don't have much time. I genuinely believe there will be a massive population culling within 5 yearsI feel like I have nothing else except my shitty janitor job
>>155393965According to an ex-mine, it’s bad, really bad. The industry was already going down the toilet, but COVID and AI basically hammered in the final nail. Everyone working in the Industry knows it.At this point, the only shows still getting views are either mindless crap made to keep toddlers occupied while their parents get a break or nostalgia bait aimed at older millennials. Everything else is fucked. And the studios have figured out that, instead of actually investing in original animation it’s cheaper to import anime and increasingly korean and even chinese content
>>155393965It's fucked for the people getting weeded out by the contraction. It's great for those who soldier on and make million-dollar campaigns on kickstarter.Art has never been a career of guarantees. It's nuts how many people were deluded into thinking otherwise.
>>155394086The indie scene can't rely on kickstarters forever. Imo, the indie hype is a honeymoon period that will also implode (the large budget ones, there will of course still be hobbyists)
>>155393993Legit just went today to get my stem degree and my other legal papers and I've never understood the meaning of the word surreal until today I've been trying to get an internship for the last three months, university and high school have already started and my body feels heavy and guilt packed because I'm used to the daily routine now.My mom's going to kill me if this lasts any longer.
>>155394119I wonder how parents are actually going to cope with the shitstorm brewing. A lot of genz and young millennials cannot find work and it probably won't get better for a while.
>>155394086Can you blame them, college was sold as a guaranteed life final step, you had people being the last in their physics major class get an email desk job two weeks after graduation and getting an appartement six months later. We were told that you should do something you love and you're talented in, art fags did that and got screwed, and even people like me who were cynical and went for the money major like computer science and computer networking got pranked by the industry.I should've been a barber man.
>>155394144WHY CAN'T THESE KIDS STOP EATING AVOCADO TOAST AND PULL THEMSELVES UP BY THEIR BOOTSTRAPS!??
>>155393965Years ago my brother told me his daughter was going to Ringling and I said if she was doing animation I'd honor kill her (she took the commercial illustration path).
>>155394168>Years ago my brother told me his daughter was going to RinglingThe circus?
>>155394164I'm literally the stereotypical autist, perfect grades never went outside, breezed through college without attending a single party or having any trouble, I was programmed to just study until I work and I had a single one month internship last summer through nepotism and they give me nothing to do because and I quote >You'll just waste time we all have enough tokens for this project, just sit there and check the bugs after we finish
If you went to school for animation you failed as a cartoonist/artist and as a person.
>>155394184Does this count the successful college grads of the 90s and prior?
>>155393993I'm a butcher and I can't stop getting hired.Maybe it's time you start wondering what jobs REALLY matter and get your hands dirty.
>>155394176May as well be
I did a 2.5 year IT bachelors/masters degree program where you don't get breaks, 2 semesters in the summer + 3 regular semesters. Took a job from a friend of a professor, after a year applied to a medium sized service provider for businesses. Moved to an area with a lot of jobs like SF or NY and took a basic support position, covid happened and everyone got let go on my team but me. Company got bought out and now I have an extremely comfy wfh job where I barely do shit besides occasionally googling javascript. I am posting here in what I wore to bed, getting salary to join meetings where I don't even have to be on camera. More /g/ than /co/ job but yeah thats where money is.
The current meme response from everyone in my life is that I should further my education >You just have a license degree? Pfft, you have to get your masters, son, you already did half of the work, did you really expect three years to be enough?Genuine sunk cost fallacy, by the time I'm done they'll tell me to get a PhD and when that is finished the only job I will be able to find is as a professor or a teacher to sell the Kool aid to gen Alpha
>>155393965Why not put the animation studios in a cheap place?why this idiots insist in put that in california or NY?
>>155394203>"Stop hiring me! Reeeeee!"
Going to university was the worst mistake of my fucking life Learn to code, they said
>>155393993How many people studie and get a degree there?they really think everyone would be hire?how many animation studios they think exist?
>>155394216Talking to my family of boomers and x'ers is a nightmare regarding collegePeople still believe we live in the 80s
>>155394246You were supposed to learn the warrior's code.
>>155394215>Took a job from a friend of a professor, after a year applied to a medium sized service provider for businesses. That's or a project manager is my dream job, I did a lot of workshops because my sister forced me to do them and I'm better at problem solving and creative solutions and ideas than sitting down and coding The problem I'm finding is that layoffs are happening so much and very few people retire naturally or leave because companies just use interns to fulfill their manpower needs until the project is finished I just have to get lucky once, all I need is a six months paid contract and I will have what it takes to apply for a project manager, I maxxed out the Charisma stats and verbal skills I've never failed an interview, my problem is that I don't even get the chance to have one
>>155394161I flat out don't know what to doI'm in 40k student debt for CS, can't find work and was rejected by the military for my medical history. I'm 31, live with my aunt who has 16 cats who shit everywhere and I'm tap dancing just to get hired as a fucking cashier.I actually believe I should rope.Only thing stopping me is the fact that I am determined to make my cartoon series despite sucking at art and writing. It's all I have left
>>155393965>Litterally Calart>Asian woman>Animesque prixel-art profileNothing of value was lost.
>>155394315Calarts is the most prestigious animation school in the country. Hillenburg, McCracken, Genndy, and Alex Hirsch all went thereWhy is the school so disrespected?
>>155394253The worst part is I did everything they said I should, we do not live in a meritocracy.I've had ai bitches and genuine dumb breaks get grades slightly behind mine and they are living it up, while I'm penalized for doing well >But you were the first in your patch, how are you struggling? Did you structure your CV well? Have you mentioned your workshops and projects?I wanna die, the families of the people who cheated expect nothing from their children while somehow I'm supposed to change the world's economy or make my own start-up out of nothing.
>>155393965You think that's bad. At least the animation jobs died because the shows have sucked and people go do something else. Graduating into dead tech is worse because the tech is increasingly *more* in everything and the jobs are still there, they just aren't for you as an American anymore.
History is sadly repeating itself and we’ve basically reverted to a 70s-80s style dark age, remakes, revivals, and reboots are our new equivalent to 80s toy commercials, poorly animated slop made to get easy money. Though the difference is that this time it’s more uncertain if this dark age would end, the 90’s creator driven renaissance began because of that whole toy commercial cartoon bubble starting to pop and stuff like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Simpsons, and Ren & Stimpy being highly influential and convincing executives that they’re profitable, and even those shows were all lightning in a bottle. What’s the most likely scenario I see that can end this dark age? A big reason why animation, and entertainment in general, is suffering is due to the mergers and the massive layoffs they’re causing, the most likely scenario I can see that can end this dark age is if the antitrust laws start cracking down on them and forcing conglomerates to break up and want to take more risks with their media.Though even if that antitrust crackdown does happen, I’m just not sure if we even have enough skilled creatives these days to make any worthwhile cartoons, industry cartoons are obviously shit, but even without industry restrictions, zoomers just make Hazbin/Digital Circus clones, diet anime, or slice of life furryslop. I worry that a second animation "renaissance" would just be shit like that flooding the industry.
I'm going to be extremely honest and sincere to a degree that I've never been before in my entire life.I've started to become extremely sympathetic to actual, literal communism, not because I'm a commie but because I sincerely hope it fails and everything gets destroyed after we try it out.
>>155394108>The indie scene can't rely on kickstarters forever.I didn't say it would. The winners are those who are willing to take risks and adapt. As long as one has that mentality, it doesn't matter if kickstarter goes away. The majority of animators who are crying are those who want a comfy studio job, while constantly badmouthing corporations and capitalism, all while losing money because they don't want to make anything that "caters to the chuds".These people should not be "the industry". They are not industrious. I'm not crapping on all of them, but they have made their beds. If they choose to roll over and die, that's what's going to happen.
>>155394373The truth is that this is the natural state of television animation. Limited animation, big IPs, toy cartoons, etc. Animation can only thrive in the theatrical realm. Problem is that 2D animation is all but dead in American theaters. TV cartoons are beyond saving and we need to stop trying to turn it into something it wasn't meant to be. The theatrical animated feature is what deserves our attention
I make pretty good animations using Novelai designs then animating in Grok. I’m using programs to create music, Eleven Labs does pretty good voices. I didn’t have to live in California, I didn’t have to spend crazy money to go to university. I’m learning editing from YouTube and it’s coming along pretty good. I have 1.8 million views and over 12,000 followers across my platforms and earn about $3200 a month across my patreon and other like services. These idiots like her hide behind their professional victimhood and use their degree as a shield. They also think they’re above getting real jobs so boo hoo some more and become like the dinosaurs.
>>155394446>The winners are those who are willing to take risks and adapt. The winners are those who come from money
>>155394452>They also think they’re above getting real jobs so boo hoo some more and become like the dinosaurs.Define real jobs.Because let me tell you if you think the tech industry is a Jewish one wait until you hear how Sisyphean it is to get a plumber apprenticeship if your last name isn't the same as the boss's.
>>155394333It could be for any reason jealousy, butthurtness, Trolls, John K autist, dislike of current trends in animation, and in the current situation with the Dean of CalArts where they want the students to learn AI. You can cherrypick any reason but we're on 4chan so your going to get a bunch of opinions. Real Crab Bucket Vibes, or Schadenfreude Call it.
>>155393965>Just how fucked is the future for the animation industry?not just animation but any kind of art related job, really. 90% percent of it is going to disappear along the 2030s>failing concept artist
And talking about desk jobs, if you're not a female contender for America's top model, then might as well make an origami bird with your c.v
>>155394464Nigga the guy who made Balatro was a fucking lower class nobody who got bored durring his vacation. Even fucking Notch who made Minecraft was a barely above middle class schmuck. It's already retarded enough that you equate success and "winning" to having a shit ton of money and things, but if you aren't even willing to put in any of the work and just give up the moment your one and only job application gets rejected then that's definitely on you. This is literally the problem with western animators and artist. They love to shout about entitlement and privilege but refuse to do anything unless there is a 100% guarantee they are the top turtle who barely does any work and thinks they are owed success because they made another shitty LGBT mock anime show.
>>155394503Why the fuck is Calarts teaching prompting?
>>155393993>shit that actually mattersWhy are you here?
>>155393965It'll all be AI slop soon
>>155393993Nobody can get a job because we're in a depress--I mean AI is replacing all the jobs and we'll soon usher in a socialist utopia. Totally NOT because the economy has been contracting harder and longer than the great depression while being propped up by circular AI funding.
>>155394636>Normalfag has yet to accept that stem majors are /co/ and /a/ fags, bronies are econ fags and tv anons are all accountants Let me guess, you still believe your lawyer and dentist are not furries right?

>>155394047I currently animate but every day I regret not starting in 2012
>>155394503>>155394333Also >People that go to CalArts keep start arguments in social media.>and for some reason people that has nothing to do with calarts defend they, but attacking other thing, like talk bad about old cartoons to defend Steven Universe.
>>155394702I don't know what the fuck you're sperging out about but you got a couple choices here:1. AI takes all the jobs and we live off UBI forever.2. AI takes all the jobs and we all fucking die3. AI does nothing and we just set a bunch of money on fire for no reason. And none of those things address the national debt, collapsing trade relationships, runaway inflation, or freefalling credit rating. The best thing you can do is get the fuck out of the US because this isn't getting fixed in 8 years.
>>155394719>Witch dinossaur sassyWell...we are fucked
>>155394176Same people but it's an art school as well. It used to have a 100% placement rate meaning if you weren't graduating with a job offer in hand you had to be a real fuckup. The dude who made Hate Farm and now animates video game cutscenes is an alum.
>>155393993It's funny how you're sold the idea of a college degree being a ticket to a succesful life, only for all of them outside of medicine to be worthless, so now people feel like they wasted years of their life studying shit they don't care about. When education is treated as a means to get a good job instead of also being an opportunity to grow as a person, you've got a lot of angry customers who feel like disappointments because of factors outside of their control (a shit economy for example). College is so fucking weird
>>155394203>I do manual skilled labor that so far can't be practically automatedAnd you have every right to be smug as fuck about it. For now, at least.
>>155394524>Nigga the guy who made Balatro was a fucking lower class nobody who got bored durring his vacation. Even fucking Notch who made Minecraft was a barely above middle class schmuck.Poor people win the lottery sometimes too, doesn't mean it happens enough to matter.

>>155394817>instead of also being an opportunity to grow as a person,With all due respect you can grow as a person for free, it's more of a means of networking than anything
>>155394817There are many jobs that require a college degree. You can't be an engineer of any kind without a degree, it's required for the license. Being a teacher requires a degree in most states, even though it pays like a high school diploma level job. Worst case scenario, you need a degree to be an officer in the military (which has seen record recruitment this year, probably because nobody can find a job). Many NGOs also require a degree for any position. There's no shortage of jobs that require a bachelor's degree. Of course an associate's is indeed worthless.
>>155394817>instead of also being an opportunity to grow as a personGod forbid you told someone in the late and early 2000s that you weren't in stem but god forbid, humanities.
>>155394817 I think the real problem is the current economic inflation where you couldn't support a family working at a McDonalds, and Mom and Pop Shop now and everyone in your family wanted you to have economic stability so they said go to College, only to unfortunately now be Holden by debt, and the inability to get a job due to Market Value on cutting corners, and infinite growth. With the US having a shit minimum wage, and an economy to scrap by as the top 1 percent get to play oligarchy, through party funding and donations.
The most bizarre thing I've seen as a recent college grad is the fact you have people in their 50's or 60's attending college. And when you ask them why they're going, they tell it's to "further their education". As if college is the only place they can learn this shit and the internet/random book about the topic doesn't exist. I honestly don't get it. Maybe there's a chance they just want to "get ahead" in life, but I doubt it
>>155394935>And when you ask them why they're going, they tell it's to "further their education".Well yeah they're not just gonna say it's to perv on girls a third their age.
>>155394246>>155394304>be me>drop out in the 9th grade>study using Khan Academy and Youtube>get GED, start community college at 16>government pays my white trash ass to go to college>transfer to a 4-year, government still pays me >graduate with 15k in unused government grants>IRS internship right after graduation>several federal offers>now work at a cozy WFH job with 100k saved at 25I legit thought I'd die poor. But I'm happy Uncle Sam saved me from the trailer park.
>>155394935It's because employers are slaves to PR and as a result you MUST have a Master's because how else are we supposed to know that you know things?
>>155395016>at 25You lucked out by a hair, you are like the last Nazi scientist who got a deal with NASA, you're like the guy who was fired from the world trade center in the first of September.I'm happy for you though, you deserve a win Anon and I hope you keep winning until you can retire comfortably
>>155394144>young millennialsThe youngest millennials are 29 years old
>>155393965>>155393993The animation industry being in shambles and nobody being able to get a job is just a symptom of the larger problem that is a massive recession incoming
>>155394935>you have people in their 50's or 60's attending collegethey're probably rich enough to afford it, easier to be spoonfed a curriculum than to teach yourself
>>155395058It feels surreal. My family dress up just to go to the local Chinese buffet because my parents thought that was high dining. Now I'm traveling and brushing shoulders with people who know Mitt Romney.
>>155394664Maybe locking down all businesses for a cough wasn't such a good idea.
>>155393965When I studied animation I once asked my teacher "How can we make sure the audience will like our work?" and he answered "Fuck the audience!"Tells you everything you need to know.
>>155395388>Then everybody claps Do Americans in university even study other subjects in their major? Even in my English language and linguistics studies, we had entrepreneurship as a module
>>155395321No we recovered from that just fine. COVID is a nice scapegoat but ultimately it amounted to one bad quarter. The other 24 bad quarters we've had since then are attributable to shitass fiscal and trade policy with two administrations in a row that insist everything's fine and nothing is broken.
>>155394880>With all due respect you can grow as a person for free, it's more of a means of networking than anythingI'm not denying that, I'm saying that we value education itself (which is where a majority of someones growth as a person is) only in terms of what kind of jobs/opportunities it offers. Treating higher education as just a place to network (which doesn't even always work considering the job market now) is also really depressing.
>>155394894>There are many jobs that require a college degree.Sure, but that's not enough, clearly. So like >>155394216 said, you need to go further into education (and debt) if you even want a chance to get a job, hell you even have places deny you because you're too "overqualified" if you're trying to work at Mcdonalds or something.
>>155395708That's why you tailor your resume to the job. Don't fucking tell mcdonalds you have a PhD. Tell them you're a broke neet that lives with his parents, because thats' who they want to hire.
>>155395418>Do Americans in university even study other subjects in their major?do you mean like electives? Those are required if you want to graduate.
>>155395438Grocery prices already started going up right after lockdown and we are now experiencing long term effects.Ukraine and Iran escalated things yet have been mostly used as an excuse for a downward spiral that has been going ever since 2008 subprime crisis and late 1990's desindustrialisation.Low birthrates and aging population caused by 1980's antinatalist ideology also played a big part pushing up degrowth.
The only industries not facing massive layoffs are insurance and repo type agencies
>>155393965They deserve it. Even if the industry cartoons they made were complete failures, they would still gloat about working in Hollywood and abuse random people online trying to make things better. That fantasy career needed to die.
>>155394119Bro if you didn't have an internship before you graduated (like by the summer of your third year) you were never going to get an offer
>>155395732>Tell them you're a broke neet that lives with his parents, because thats' who they want to hireThat just goes to show you the effectiveness of a basic bachelors degree>too much for basic burger making jobs, so don't use it>not enough for an "entry level" job that needs 5 years of experience, and more degreesnot to mention all the ghost jobs you receive as well as the fact most of these companies what to pass your resume through a bot first
>>155395805You're not thinking longterm. You bust out the degree when it's time to get promoted to manager.
>>155395829>dude just be a wage slave for a few decades so you can have a slightly higher position and still have managers that shit on you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JsgrXyBZO0
>>155394817>It's funny how you're sold the idea of a college degree being a ticket to a succesful life, only for all of them outside of medicine to be worthlessNo, they aren't worthless. They are incredibly valuable if you come from a low-trust hideous mess of a society, such as India, where you can effectively tell anyone "Yes sir I graduated from here sir" despite having never shown up or paid a dime, and that college will go "Yes sir he graduated from here sir" because, in some obtuse way, that claim benefits them. Two liars lying so that one of the liars may infiltrate a higher-trust society, where he will continue to lie, where he will continue to operate on low IQ sociopathic impulse. This will continue happening over and over, because the obvious algebra of>pay nothing for college>get hired and bullshit through your job>hire your relatives who also paid nothing and will bullshithas a higher yield than actually paying for college, actually working hard, actually doing anything whatsoever in the country you actually grew up in. And if you believe what I'm saying has only affected the tech industry or something, you aren't just naive, you are delusional. This is also why whenever an increasingly-large amount of people tell you to KYS for being such a heckin ally to the brown people all these years, all to fight back against the chuds (i.e. guys with values that reflect an older, traditional standard from when the USA was an enviable and respectable place to live) they are correct. Now watch this post vanish because the janitors on this dying website are exactly the sort of jeets I've described.

I'm not sure why people want the complete collapse of the industry. Indie is not going to carry the weight. There needs to be an industry for animation.
>>155396535>What excuse do the animation doomers make for the sustained global success of the Japanese animation industry?Overworked and underpaid work force that can only exist in asian countries which is not sustainable. There's also the saturation of the medium for every frieren there are 5k Isekai anime that look like western action cartoons and even worse
>>155396417What about them anon? You know they are dead so stop looking at them and move on. Go find something else, go make something else, go do literally anything else. It sounds like a load of basic bitch advice, and you are half right, "bee ur shelf an jusk dew et" is a lot deeper than it is. But the road people take are never going to be the same, but you have to accept that part and either take the path or go a different way.

It hilarious how people just allow shit to die. The creators involved in the animation renaissance didn't give up on the industry. Why are people so quick to now?
>>155394119Unfortunately, and they don't tell you this, you needed an industrial placement in the year before your final year, to have a chance at being employed at the end of it all. You're expected to not just treat your job as a hobby but to live and breathe it, whilst also having time spare to do """normal person""" hobbies so the HR woman doesn't think you're a psycho she can't date even if she wouldn't ever date another employee.>>155394144They mostly get extremely aggressive when their children suddenly don't have a job, wife, car, house and promotion by the time they're 25, like their generation did. >>155396641Sounds like an excuse. If you aren't willing to work like an Asian slave for low pay, you shouldn't be working in animation. If these countries can do it, why can't the lazy American zoomers with no work ethic also do it? The reality of animation is it's extremely time intensive.

That's what the majority of cartoons were primarily targeting, and if that age bracket isn't watching, everything falls apart. Plus their minds are turning to mush with all the slop constantly shoved down their throats by the algorithm. They can't pay attention to a simple silly 11 minute story anymore. >>155398385>>155398529I think one issue out of multiples, is at CalArts, they don't take into account for other relevant areas of art that compliment animation. I think they're obsessed with "technical" strong neutral drawing skills. But animation requires other disciplines under the general umbrella of drawing. It requires cinematography, timing, spacing, and especially weight control and manipulation and movement. Exaggeration and over exaggeration at key parts. Some of them are good at rendering and painting, but I think at some point, loading up all these extra skills is a detriment, especially from a talent pool potential.I think one reason we see faux-anime and such dead corporate styles is partially rising is because they've gutted out any alternative, authetinc or stylized artists and styles in favor of hyper-technically correct artists with almost no personalized style and then probably not taking into account artists.I don't think there's going to be many wild-card or unique artists in the mainstream anytime soon either. And that may fall on "indie" but I am doubtful, because YT fucking HATES animators with a deep seeded passion with their shitty algorithm that rewards the shittiest of metrics for the laziest fucks imaginable. There's also been some scandals behind the scenes recently too at CalArts if I recall with the Dean or President or something. Same with the bulk of DEI, including lgtbq and minorities.>https://wearewia.org/>https://www.womeningames.org/It doesn't help they let them fail upwards, and then the whole industry is very much humping after DEI initiatives that benefit them solely, as men are the sacrificial totems. If I recall too, a lot of universities are freaking out because men are abandoning higher education because of the open hatred and bias against them, and the plan was to more women into college while shitting on the men, and now the men are leaving wholesale. It's also telling that the industry is almost solely and purely an ideological homogeneity. They gutted any and all opposing voices out, and they're swimming in their feminized hugbox "purity" chambers without anyone saying "maybe this idea isn't so good" or "why are there so many gay characters", or "maybe it's not wise to have annoying girlbosses". It also doesn't help, they abandoned the make audience wholesale, and then Disney is freaking out because for the past 10 years, it was all "the future is female" and then the actual fans left, leaving a giant male shaped hole of money in their bank profit margins. What you see now, is males then spent their money and time viewing anime and manga, where their media isn't male humiliation ritualism, and actually doesn't demonize them and their "male gaze" or interests.

>>155396535Anime is draconian work that pays slightly above minimum wage for skilled labor at around 60-80 hours a week and tends to burn out or kill the employees doing it.
>>155393965Same as it ever was
>>155399588Sounds just like the typical full time American job.
>>155399506When the goyim think they "deserve" life outside of coal mines and battlefields
>>155398716Calarts exists for the networking, not the training. You go there to rub elbows with nepobabies and children of important Hollywood people that are guaranteed to fall ass backwards into success and land things like directing gigs for their 22nd birthday. It's not about learning the trade, it's about making the right friends. The school is basically the world's most expensive daycare center for children of producers, actors, and directors to doodle anime and looney tunes.
>>155394176The very same.
>>155399632This. CalArts might be the only school in America where it could suffer a shooting and everyone else would just go "Well earned"
>>155399529There are plenty, you are just a lazy worthless communist looking for a handout.
>>155399625poor or rich, nobody wants nepobaby developed cartoons with intentionally ugly artstyles. in this instance getting a real job is doing yourself a favor over chasing a dream in CalArts
>>155398529You're conflating art with animation. They're completely different fields of study. It'd be like asking why an engineer is so bad at theoretical mathematics.
>>155394216>>155394215In my area getting into the craftsman jobs was/is terrible. No one wants to hire you unless youre journeyman, you cant be journeyman without a mentor, tradeschools are full delinquent drop outs who promise a mentorship which doesnt happen, and craftsmen you personally know act only are interested in training their own children and act like youre after their pot o gold if they are to take on a student. They have zero interest in providing skilled personel for the future. At least in my area. In the Midwest I heard the trades are better respected.
>>155399722the thing is being skilled at art is necessary to be really good at animation. you know it helps with understanding anatomy, perspective, design, lighting, and even composition.
>>155393965So if she got like an actual degree with a real career field behind it there would be no problems here. Animation is a hobby for rich kids who have daddy to pay their rent and buy their groceries.
>>155399663Is that why you're posting on 4chan on a Wednesday afternoon?
>>155399762You don't need to be highly technically skilled to animate, and animation requires a different modus set of skills than drawing, but drawing does obviously complement animation heavily. Consider stop-motion, clay-mation and 3D animation. All can be accomplished without little or any drawing skills. Hence, animation skills are a skill-set unto themselves.
>>155394304You should do what I do continue living and striving for the day when you can have your revenge. Your revenge can be an undeserved kindness to society or neglect or a malicious but lawful act. We all may grow old but they are getting there faster, they will reap what they sew and you can be there to make it so much worse. All you need to make it to tomorrow is a little food, a little water, and the knowledge tomorrow will always come.Vote to abolish social security until the boomers have died off then bring it back, is what Im saying.
>>155399830no but you need to learn the fundamentals to avoid easy mistakes such as fucking up perspective. in the other mediums you describes you also need to take this into account maybe not as much as drawing in 2D but you need to have it on the back of your mind
>>155399730This is also what happened to the animation industry. You have to get in on a gig somehow when people only ever want seasoned experts. Making a newcomer incapable of getting any job at all anywhere. Getting the needed experience means somehow making a friend in a higher up somewhere in the world and getting on a decent profile job, not anything will do. hiring managers have to have heard of the thing you worked on so most YouTube projects will not count. At the same time, getting that apprenticeship is incredibly hard since for some reason the expert guys, including the ones that charge for it, have this impression you are trying to steal their universe and everything they own so they are not as willing to teach shit.
>>155399875Again, you don't actually need to know how to draw to understand perspective.
>>155394702The anti AI stuff is supported by China, who wants to be the leader in AI. They do this to everything they want to monopolize, actually. Factory work, nuclear power, IP theft, and imposing sovereignty on third world nations are other examples.
>>155397437STEM degrees dont get you a job either. Not unless you got the right school and right degree. I think gender studies have a higher income and hiring chance than CS students right now.
>>155400054Let them win and ruin their own country before they even get a chance to target others. Not our problem.
>>155400086How did CS grads get cucked this hard?
>>155395418Depends on the state and the college. Some demand you have writing and communication classes some do not. Some recognize courses taken from different colleges some do not.Ive learned that most people have drain plugs in their skulls that they can pop open after getting out of these colleges and the parts of their brain that held literacy and writing spill out.
>>155400187Because there's been a mad rush ever since the late 90s and the dot-com bubble to shove as many people into CS as possible. Then corpos began to outsource almost all CS work to Scam-poo-ligans, who then in turn hired each other exclusively (and then they have the fucking audacity to cry discrimination when there's no jobs left for them).Wonder why like 3 out of 4 times you call tech support it's Jeets? Doesn't help too, that DEI and feminists pushed foids into CS because "muh industry gender gap" bullshit where not enough wahmen were in CS. Coding is now outsourced to Jeets who already did a shit job, and now AI can do a large bulk of the work.
>>155396535Anime flourishes because it was marketed as "adult shows being heavily edited for kids." very early on. You have idiots to this day who think shows like Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto are made for adults so they feel comfortable embracing anime while even well respected shows like Avatar, BTAS, and Gargoyles will only ever be viewed as good by cartoon standards. They're not viewed as good works in their own right they're viewed as good despite being cartoons. Its also why we rarely see genre cartoons for adults that don't market themselves as anime. Adult animated sitcoms like The Simpsons escape this mentality but they're still often looked down on.
>>155400111Given how a large portion of our debt and terrorism problems stem from China trying to conquer the world through corruption and bad trade practices I would say that is, in fact, our problem. They dont need AI to help murder what little creative they still have, they have guns and falling buildings for that.AI is our toy! We shouldn't let them steal our toys because they do that dirty, "oh that toy sucks now" trick!
>>155400582I'm not talking about creativity. I'm talking about machines turning against their creators first. Let it happen to China and let it be a lesson to the whole world that we shouldn't go that far.
>>155400451>nowIts been happening for 20 years, in my experience. The concept of globalization is the heart of it and it convinced business owners that they don't need their jobs done well, just done. Failure can be managed in accounting. Lying about success is mandatory.
>>155400690>Machines saying communism is bad and killing the PLA.Well, when you put it that way.
>>155393965Imagine having a job like this.
>>155393965Imagine if wannabe animators were inspired by things that were good instead of anime dogshit.
>>155397542>but this time with debt that will Hunt them foreverThat's why I never went. I would rather be a minimum wagie without debt than one with debt.
>>155394935Boomers are retarded.
>>155394935Because Boomers have a major ego about how much they can flaunt. I've seen it before with other old-fag Boomers flexing with going back to college to make more and then to brag "it's not that bad" while they sit on their McMansion, already paid off a few decades before.
>>155396282zoomers born between 1996 and 2001 are effectively a completely separate lost generation
