Since Gwenpool is participating in Ms. /co/, I will be storytiming her original series for as long as she remains in the contest. Today we'll be doing her first five issues. Issue 0 is a collection of the comics where Gwenpool first appeared: a bunch of Howard the Duck back-up stories and Gwenpool's story from Marvel's 2016 Christmas Special. After that, her series begins proper. If you enjoy the comic, give Gwen a vote at https://forms.gle/9MkfT3BdWvmqKmUt9
Howard the Duck is a cult classic kooky character in his own right. He's a talking duck from an alternative universe of duck people who ended up at Marvel and became a private investigator. He pretty much doesn't appear past issue 0, so that's everything you need to know about him here. It's fitting that Gwen debuted in a comic of another character with a concept as out-there as hers.

>>155399284Thanks for the extra long story time Anon, I'm sure Gwen appreciates your efforts in getting her more readers and voters.I always love Gwen's first arc. There is a lot of charm to her early days when her only superpowers were knowledge of superheroes and a fair bit of plot armor, having to get by on the bare basics. Sets up the principles of Gwen pretty darn quickly: she's an over-enthused womanchild who has an uncomfortable lack of concern for what happens to herself and others, and having to earn that main character role she's been thrust into.
wow nice job Anon!
>>155399391Thanks for the storytime. Personally, I despise this quirk chungus type of humor, and I'm not a fan of Gurihiru. Nevertheless, your efforts are appreciated, even by a hater.
>>155397309>Gwen gets her best/only friend killed in issue 1It was this specific page that got me hooked
>>155395836NiceThanks anon
>>155399284Thanks for the storytime. God, I miss this version of Gwen.
>>155400144I think it was for a lot of people. I remember when issue #1 first got storytimed this page got a big reaction.
SHE MADE IT!!!
>>155400991Yaaaaaaaay
>>155396010I always thought Howard the Duck was one of those characters who had medium awareness too. Does he not?
>>155395948>kills a police officer in broad daylight with dozens of eyewitnessesDamn muties. And she'll get away with it too.
>>155402206Gwen had too little qualms about killing background characters when she first got thereJust wait until tomorrow
>>155396113god bless hastingsi don't know what he's doing now but i hope its successful
The duck bits were quite lame but when it switch writer it became decent
>>155402810>when it switch writerIt's the same writer. He just found his footing once he was given a proper Gwenpool ongoing instead of back-ups in the Howard the Duck comic.
>>155402841OhWell good for him in that caseThe duck bit was surprisingly bad for what it was, in that I would have expected an editor to shoot down such an unmarketable idea if the writing and art weren't above average (And they were below average. Black cat has curved bones in the first page)
>>155397326>Henchman of MODOKah so Monarch wasn't her first
>>155397989One of my favorite covers, I wish I had a poster of this one.
>>155402810it was hastings from the start, he just didn't have enough wiggle room without a solid ongoing to do what he's used to from Dr. McNinja
>>155395836Much as I like Unbelievable Gwenpool this was just storytimed a few months ago.>>155402118No, he doesn't. Also IIRC Zdarsky heavily implied that this Howard is in fact the clone that was left in the MU during the Spider-Man Team-Up and Savage Dragon/Destroyer Duck story. AFAIK that's not official and Zdarsky only did it out of respect for Gerber while Marvel still considers this the original Howard.
>>155402841>>155405188If you believe Heather Antos, the way she's portrayed in that Howard story is largely how Marvel wants her portrayed while they never really liked what Hastings did with her in the ongoing. They just wanted her to be a quirk chungette version of Deadpool rather than an actually developed character.
>>155400144thisthan when she undestand that she dosent matter in MCU and will never do something important.
>>155402519A grafic novel...a DnD podcast...i dont know if he still do Theater .but yea, Marvel miss some easy bucks
>>155405196I thought that storytime wasn't finished and didn't go past 23?
>>155406541No it finished in its entirety, the last few issues went into that thread. At any rate though the new storytime here is mainly on account of her Ms. /co/ performance to show her to potential new readers/voters.
>>155405196>Also IIRC Zdarsky heavily implied that this Howard is in fact the clone that was left in the MU during the Spider-Man Team-Up and Savage Dragon/Destroyer Duck storyAh yes of course...
>>155398063Always liked her original crew so much
>>155408933Perhaps Sarah can make it to Bottom 128 someday
>>155410252bottom 128?
>>155410387That's a side tournament in Ms. /co/ where the 128 characters with the least amount of votes participate (as opposed to the main one where 128 characters with the most amount of votes get)
>>155405562well sucks for them because their idea is fucking ass and hastings knows how to write a character who has emotional depth while still being able to deliver some dumb quips for funny
When does Part 2 start?
bump
