I'm really to believe that these all take place in the same universe? At least the MCU has a consistent tone.
>>155399527It’s the same in the comics thobeit
>>155399527It's the only good thing about it The MCU still struggles with the monotonous tune
>A Superman movie that’s basically a live-action Saturday morning cartoon >A Green Lantern show that’s barely about Green Lantern where it’s grimdark and they never wear the costumes and it’s made by Lindelof & King who actively want to deconstruct it >Edgy low budget horror movie because Warners doesn’t have the money to make something with a higher budget due to constant flops for the last ten years >Some retarded Gorilla Grodd show where he sings and dancesJimbo is a dumbass and should’ve never been given this job
>>155399527Why would anyone who has read a comic book make such an asinine comment?
>>155399621>>155399550that shit doesn’t work when you translate it to live-action. it makes everything feel disconnected, the opposite effect of what it’s intended to do.
>>155399527>Put all the super villains in my prison and there is your consistent tone.
>>155399621It's ragebait. No one likes the MCU having a single tone.
>>155399527this is missing supergirl
>>155399881It's missing Peacemaker as well.
>>155399862I do
Consistent tone?
We live in a world where at any given time someone is being born, someone is dying, another is falling in love for the first time, another is finding out their partner is cheating on them etc. If anything it's more unbelievable when a franchise has a uniform tone across different series.
>>155399527Compare The Marvels to Kingpin smashing dudes heads open and Typhoid Mary's backstoryof getting gangraped by Sokovian guards.
>>155399527Frankly I don't like that MCU movies all feel kind of the same, especially lately.
>>155400094>NO I don't like reality, shut uuuuup bring back Zack Snyder pleeeeaassse!!!!
>>155400094The Marvels has the same tone as Born Again. The Netflix show was retroactively made canon.
>>155400806>The Marvels has the same tone as Born Againhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vou7PVsqcnkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhWM1nB5mhoObjectively wrong.
>>155400898I didn't have to click on these to know which two scenes you'd cherrypick. You have such a bad faith argument.
>>155399642Better than every movie looking the same, like Superman, peacemaker, and supergirl. Boy did that shit get old quick
>>155399642The problem with previous series is that they didn't even want to acknowledge the "weird" side of the universe. Look at Nolan's movies. It didn't even try to acknowledge Superman. That's why they're terrible Batman movies and great Villain showcases.
>>155399527The DCU doesn't feel like a single coherent universe at all. It's worse than the CW in that respect. The DCEU didn't have this problem
>>155401708No but the DCEU had bigger issues
>>155399642This
>the MCU has a consistent toneyeah and its boring and pedestrian
>>155399642>it makes everything feel disconnected, the opposite effect of what it’s intended to do.Audiences do not want to feel like they have to *consoom* 20 separate movies and streaming TV shows in order to understand whatever the fuck is going on with magic macguffin stones or bracelets or whatever the fuck.Like the comics, they work best when audiences have the freedom to pick and choose what they like based on different genres and aesthetics. Feeling like its only valid if you're collecting all 20 pieces all the time is "wednesday warrior zombie" brain
>>155401708>the suicide squad established that waller is terrified of metahumans and that the government needs a contingency plan>this is upgraded to full on monsters in creature commandos but waller is given a vision of the future being shown it isn't enough and flag realizes how uncontrollable metas are first hand>superman and the justice gang intervene in a foreign diplomatic situation with the us government being powerless to stop it>flag gets his revenge on peacemaker while also finding a solution to the metahuman problemWe don't know how Supergirl and Lanterns tie-in, but it's pretty coherent so far. Maybe you're just stupid?
>>155401419>cherrypickThese are the tones through out those two properties.
The consistent tone of DC movies is being second-rate MCU. It's VERY consistent at that.
>>155401419>She-Hulk twerkingmeanwhile>dog gets thrown in front of a truck in Punisher: One Last Kill>both are for completely different age groups
>>155402867>DCEU Justice LeagueThat was a failure and the DCEU is dead so that's correct.
>>155402869>twerking is for the childrens!
>>155399527They're actually making the right call in terms of individual tones for the projects.Casuals are easily confused and lose interest quickly, so you have to focus on individual characters with digestible story arcs that present the universe from different angles/genres. This avoids a majority of the problems the later MCU had, being more plot-focused, characters getting introduced and shelved at random for the overarching plot, multiple different entries that blended together and became homework to get through, ect. However, the DCU's main failing is that there's no real "weight" to the individual installments as character studies. They don't have much to say about the characters they feature, no real direction and no concrete identity. Superman was an GotG-style ensemble with a thin veneer of "wholesome" over the cynicism and irreverence. Supergirl, despite being not being written by Gunn, might as well have been a modern Marvel movie. Peacemaker was a shitpost. Creature Commandos was forgettable. Lanterns is a True Detective clone with barely any identity of its own. Clayface is a horror movie that's so far removed from its influence it may as well be an original work. Gorilla Grodd is also shaping up to be a shitpost.Things could always change in the future, but it's not looking any better than its contemporaries at this rate.
>>155402894That is how it's been sold to the populace, yes.
>>155399642It doesn't work in the comics either.
DC and Marvel have a wide range of tones in their books, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. HOWEVER, and this is coming from someone who wants the DCU to thrive and genuinely loved Superman, this universe can't really afford to be too crazy this early. See the issue is that they have to build up the brand a bit first, maybe knock out some family oriented stuff to nurture a revenue pool to stay for the long run. When you have something as upbeat as Superman as your start, and then you're rushing to shit like Lanterns with dicks on screen and saying fuck in every other scene, you have to wonder what the target demographic is anymore. You can't say comic fans for Lanterns because of how grounded it is
>>155402836>fisk smashing someone's head in is the same tone as the foreigners singing and kamala's dadAgain, you're arguing in bad faith.
>>155402693None of what you said is remotely true. Hell, Lex Luthor had more power than Superman and any other hero in that movie and the US government ignores that clusterfuck.
The shared universe is objectively bad
>>155406276NTA, but all of that is true. The events of Superman are directly brought up in that manner in Peacemaker season two.
>>155404582Every project has its own audience, and by keeping budgets low enough it doesn't matter if one or two things flop. The new DCU is a place for lots of different stories to happen in, not one big story. The wild differences mean each project can target a different demographic rather than half-assing the appeal to everyone and fully pleasing no one.
>>155407181There is one big story, though.
>>155399613I await the day when kings ptsd from kicking arabs in the shins finally overwhelms him and he deconstructs his head with a 12g
>>155399527>I'm really to believe that these all take place in the same universe?Do you find it hard to believe that Disneyland and child-raping third world warlords exist in the same universe?
>>155408604you got a point. Both of those exist in the united sharts of turdmerica
>>155407951Nah
>>155410772There is
>>155407076You're objectively bad
>>155410848He is the shared universe.
>>155399527>I actually WANT generic slop!OP is, as always, a faggot
>>155399642You have wars going on, men in dresses policing children’s cartoons for representation, people dressing up like cartoon characters at comic conventions, Massachusetts letting mothers off for strangling their kids to death, people being robbed, raped, slaughtered and sold every day and you think an entire fictionalized universe needs to have one singular tone? That being said I’ll never watch peacemaker, lanterns, supergirl or clayface, reeves’ Batman is ass and Im just patiently awaiting another reboot. The only good thing about the new DCU is superman wearing trunks.
>>155399527"cinematic universes" should not existWant to connect a few movies? Its called a "trilogy">oh yeah man im going to see guardians of the galaxie 5, after the avengers 6 of course-phrases of the utterly deranged
>>155399550Fpbp and /thread/You got Superman rescuing a kitten from a tree while Batman beats a serial rapist half to death
>>155410772See >>155402693
>>155402425If that's the case then why is manga, where you need to consoom the prior 100 issues to understand what's going on, outselling comics where the issues are all episodic?
>>155412349All of these are generic slop.
>>155399527>At least the MCU has a consistent tone. That was precisely their mistake.
>>155399527This was the same as DC in the Bronze Age—traditional superheroes and then stuff like Swamp Thing—so I’m fine with it. I love Bronze Age DC.
>>155399527Did you know that American Pie and Seven take place in the same universe?Fucking goddamn retard.
>>155404582>You can't say comic fans for Lanterns because of how grounded it isIt's for general audiences who aren't into capeshit, it's why Lanterns has tens of millions of viewers on HBO already while Peacemaker only had middling ratings on Max in comparison.
>>155399527>At least the MCU has a consistent tone.I still find it hard to believe that these two characters exist in the same universe.
>>155399527>I'm really to believe that these all take place in the same universe?Yes, you fucking idiot.
>>155418392>source: your ass
>>155418787I can after Born Again.
>>155399527>women, men, and children are raped and murdered everydayam I really supposed to believe that is happening in the world?my 9 to 5 life is so mundane with everybody just barely cordial to one another
>>155400094>Typhoid Mary's backstory of getting gangraped by Sokovian guards.Go on.
>>155419063Born Again in itself is in a really strange place within the MCU beause they just did a story arc about the mayor of NY rounding superheroes and random citizens in prison camps yet it goes completely unaddressed in Thunderbolts and Brand New Day.
>>155401708>>155402693The things Gunn kept from the DCEU were things he worked on and or likes which is adjacent to things he worked on. he's terribly vain. the current throughline for the DCU is lifted from his entries for the DCEU. similarly, there's only a Clayface movie because he used him in Creature Commandoes, even though it's going to be more shlocky like The Substance than the actual poignant body horror in Spider-Man 3 about basically a similar powerset.
>>155418392That works. This doesn't.
>>155419318Clayface primarily exists because they needed Batman content since Reeves was still dealing with personal shit or something behind the scenes, and Mike Flanagan had pitching for a Clayface solo film since 2021 and already had a script on hand, top it off with a relatively cheap budget in comparison to most superhero blockbusters and it was an easy sell.>even though it's going to be more shlocky like The Substance than the actual poignant body horror in Spider-Man 3 about basically a similar powerset. Why would you make a Clayface movie wholesome?
>>155401708The DCEU had BvS and Suicide Squad, The Flash, and the Harley Quinn movie AND WW84
>>155399527>Jeffery Dahmer existed in the same time and world as Mr. RodgersSeriously, wtf was God thinking? Talk about tonal whiplash.
>>155419318>it's going to be more shlocky like The Substance than the actual poignant body horror in Spider-Man 3kek what the fuck is this sentence
>>155419318>the actual poignant body horror in Spider-Man 3
>>155420679it's more satisfying body horror to actually examine "I can't hold my loved ones anymore because my body can't hold its shape" versus generic "I'm melting into goooooo get the goo bucket for me"
>>155399527Anon, while we are safely shitposting about cartoons snd comics, Ukrainians, Palestinians and Sudanese are fighting in brutal wars
>>155420916It's a post by some zoomie who thinks Spider-Man 3 is good
>>155399527MCU has the shittiest tone where everything looks the same and it has to fit inside the same box. That's not how this is supposed to work. I guess seeing John Stewart in MoT will open people's minds.
>Talking Gorilla serious. Talking Gorilla should be grimmdark and not attend college
But The Punisher and Guardians of The Galaxy taking place in the same universe is totally fine?Punisher and a talking Racoon?
If the MCU was the Gunnverse. This is what it'd look like, just to show the insane choices Gunn has made for his cinematic universe:Movies:>Ironman>Ironheart>Coming soon: Chameleon>Coming soon: Man of IronTV:>Legion of Monsters>Nova Corps>Coming soon: The People v Gorilla-Man
Why does DC keep doing this? Both times they could have went the easy route of:>Superman movie>Batman movie>Wonder Woman movie>Flash movieetc. Leading up to Justice League. But they seem so averse to this?
>>155399527Thank you! It's confusing to me, in the MCU everything looks like the same calming cell phone or delivery service commercial. Nothing to fancy, easy to look up from my phone and understand what's happening. Gunn wants to be artsy and trys to inject muh color and its fucking cringe, aint nobody got time for that lol
>>155408575>kicking arabsClowns In Action are traffickers of children and drugs, anon.
>>155420679Why would you make a Clayface movie?
>>155407076No? It gives the audience a reason to care about about other characters if they are invested in the universe
So people are upset that a talking Gorilla, a literall joke villain, attends college? XD
>>155408575Kek
>>155399642You don't know shit.
