Probably JLA, Invisibles and ASS. Very important comics to a young me. Rock of Ages is peak JLA in my opinion.
>>
>>155404511
Actually, scratch ASS, throw Doom Patrol in there.
>>
>>155404511
Rock of Ages is when I "got" Darkseid, before then he'd always been the weird rock guy that sounded like Megatron
>>
>>155404533
That story has fucking everything. Time travel, the injustice gang, new gods, the end of the world, motherfucking Atom. It might be one of the best team stories of all time.
>>

Invisibles
Batman
Seven Soldiers

>Kill Your Boyfriend
that comic is fucking awful.

I'm interested in the Zenith compendium coming out next year, the hardcovers copies they have now have such a poor print quality.

It's in full color, I think.

All wrong.
>>
I really liked Batman and Robin but didn't care for everything from Batman and Son up to RIP (with a brief exception for 666 and 667-669).
All-Star Superman is very good too.
>>
>>155406491
Yeah, me too. Unfortunately Quesada thought we were all too stupid to read it and killed the sequel while it was in the conception stage.

Happy feels like a Warren Ellis book until like the very end. So weird that he wrote that one.

>>155414462
I gave a straight one instead.
>>
>>155414265
He was fishing with adaptation bait and it worked.
>>
>>155417095
Worked is pulling a lot of weight

On the one hand it the closest thing to a Crank TV series we ever got

On the other hand it got cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, and arguably only got that second season because it was Syfy
>>
>>155414138
What is this?
>>
>>155418657

Hypercrisis memetic gateway.
>>
>>155419006
Okay, but what is that?
>>
We
We2
We3
>>
>>155417402
I mean, it was adapted. It got more than a pilot. Just because it didn't last forever doesn't mean it wasn't a success.
>>
>>155403221
All-Star Superman, Animal Man, Seven Soldiers of Victory.
>>
Kind of surprised at the love Seven Soldiers is getting, that seems like the kind of title /co/ would hate.
>>
>>155415744
Impossible because you're not straight, you're gay.
>>
>>155421111
Checked. I didn't like it.
>>
>>155405818
>>155405941
It was finished. The magazine where it was first printed cancelled it, but the full thing was serialised in Crisis.

I genuinely dislike every book Grant Morrison has ever written. He throws whatever New Age bullshit at the wall, then writes some "Aren't I So Fucking Clever" commentary on the medium instead of telling a story. The only clown more pretentious is Jeff Lemire, but the backhanded compliment I can give Morrison is he at least works with a competent artist now and then.
>>
This is a batman INC and final crisis board.
>>
>>155423494
>He throws whatever New Age bullshit at the wall, then writes some "Aren't I So Fucking Clever" commentary on the medium
Not all of his works include the mystic or meta nonsense.
>The only clown more pretentious is Jeff Lemire
He's not a very good writer, but in what way is he pretentious?
>but the backhanded compliment I can give Morrison is he at least works with a competent artist now and then.
That's not a backhanded compliment, just a compliment.
>>
>>155423765
Meh
>>
>>155421111
I listed it as one of my three. I love books that let you tour a universe and see the lesser known characters and how regular day to day life works in a comic universe. It’s the closest you can get to being able to walk around in that universe and talk to people. I think that’s one of the reasons I like Busiek’s Astro City so much.
>>
Doom patrol
All stars
Multiversity
>>
Invisibles
The Filth
Nameless
Doom Patrol
Flex

Capeshit is shit, but still better than other capeshit.
>>
>Seaguy
Obligatory fuck you Cameron Stewart post.
>>
>>155426814
I'm not a fan of that one.
>>
>>155427189
We know, Cameron.
>>
>>155427199
I don't like his art, and Morrison's writing was weaker than usual.
>>
I don't get the love for Doom Patrol. It has a lot of cool ideas, but they're mostly teased and it plays out like a regular cape comic, repeating itself with the constant doomsday scenarios. The art sucks.
>>
He should use his magick powers to grow some hair.
>>
>>155428972
That's fucked up.
>>
>>155428966
Nah, the art in DP is great. You just have a terrible taste in art.
>>
>>155428972
Nah, hair is overrated.
>>
>>155403221
lol he bald
>>
>>155430157
No, it sucks. The fact that you went after me personally means you're in doubt.
>>
>>155431987
Why art sucks? You didin't explain it.

>>

Always with the personal attacks, never with any semblance of an argument. Tell me again who lacks development.

Is asking questions "pretentious" now?

That’s probably why you can’t formulate a single, simple argument to support your views.

>>155436417
It's crazy how almost Grant's entire career was spent at DC because the one time he tried to write for Marvel, they ratfucked him so badly that he never wrote a word for them again.

Imagine an alternate universe where Marvel editors in 2004 hadn't been short-sighted morons who were scared to let the X-Men be weird. We'd probably have a mind-blowing Morrison run on Doctor Strange by now. He'd probably have done something amazing with Thor. We'd probably have gotten a spiritual successor to JLA with Morrison's Avengers. But nope, Marvel just had to cock that up because they didn't like Xorn being Magneto. Remember what they took from you.
>>
>>155436596
Well it's only normal. Marvel is more rigid in general, it's why most of the British invasion preferred to work for DC over Marvel.
>>
>>155436641
Marvel is more rigid now because Disney owns them. But this was years before Disney bought them. They didn't have a corporate parent pulling their strings at this time. They just decided to be dumbasses.
>>
>>155436658
No, Marvel was always more rigid.
>>
>>155436596
’ll play devil’s advocate here, but I think Morrison’s ideas would have consumed the entire universe. Not necessarily for the worse, but he, and his X-Men, would have become the central focus.

Take, for instance, the idea of humans hunting mutants to harvest their organs and gain their powers. Brilliant! But that would have completely altered the status quo. To maintain consistency, characters like Captain America would have had to fight these artificial mutants, meaning everything would have ended up revolving around events in the X-Men titles.
>>
>>155435494
>>155436253
>resorting to lies now
Okay.
>>155436258
I suppose Richard Case was still developing his skills when we worked on the book, but it really called for a lot more than he was capable of. He's a fill-in artist at best. Some of the blame can probably be placed on his inkers.
>>
>>155437858

You're avoiding the question. I'm not asking for your assessment of the artist himself. I'm asking why his drawings would be bad.
>>
>>155438097
You need to reword your question because that's exactly what you're asking.
>>
>>155437858
>Richard Case was still developing his skills when we worked on the book
It's the best his art ever looked. Again, you fail to actually talk about why the art is bad and just use broad non specific terms that you think could be categorized as "flaws".
>>
>>155403221
Multiversity
Green Lantern
The Invisibles
>>
>>155439114
That's really sad.
I think you mean to ask "what's bad about the art?" or "in what respects is the art lacking?". In that case, you'll have to pay for my ten-week course on comic book art.
I'll give you a very short version. The comic calls for a level of surrealism that Case cannot muster. He can barely make the figures look humanoid. Now, if he's going for some kind of abstract, cubist approach, he fails at that too, because his figures never reach an adequate level of deformation. I think Morrison wanted something like the works of Jan Svankmajer, but that's not what's reflected. Case is very much a meat and potatoes artist, and not a solid one either, and the visual madness is carried by Morrison's instruction rather than from Case's ability. His art does not enhance the story or maximize its effects.
>>
>>155440085
Your very first sentence is retarded and I read no further.
>>
>>155440108
I'm not surprised.
