Arguably his animation reputation was propped up by Selick, hence the tongue-in-cheek filename.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the beginning of the end for Burton.

Tim Burton is kind of all over the place. He's done great live-action works and not-so-great live-action works; same for his animation work. I did like Frankenweenie though

I feel like he got to big and now he doesn't have any creative restraint, no studio executives or producers saying no or tone down the style and he's worse off for it. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is sighted as the beginning of the end but honestly I have no idea how that first Alice in Wonder movie almost made a Billion dollars. Hasn't mad a great movie since the 90s and even then, Edward Scissor hands is overrated and Nightmare before Christmas (I know he's a producer not a director) is missing a subplot. It's 76 minute movie. it's 14 minutes shorter than a movie of the 90s has any right to be. It feels like the script was cut down to the studs because claymation is too slow.

EUGH!
It looks like some analog nightmare fuel.
How did CGI fall THIS far.

Laziness and the lack of a dark room to hide imperfections on rushed 3D models.

He was always inconsistent, but the problem is he's basically had no hitters for the entirety of the 2010's and onwards, so now he looks like a shit director whose gotten old.

Edward Scissorhands is not good. It's just weird so people like it for that.
>>
>>155420641
Edward Scissorhands was popular for women, very easy to fangirl over a guy like him
>>
>>155420690
Ugh, don't even get me started on Burton Alice.
>muh prophecy
Instantly makes any film not worth watching.

When i saw him fall off so hard i was shocked, "at least lightning has struck, the other good directors are safe", i thought.
Boy was i wrong.
>>
He kind of didn't mind the failures from time to time if one of his greatest movies he ever made was a Biopic about a bad director..

Big Eyes was very good, and totally ignored (same screenwriters as Ed Wood as well, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski), it's very similar thematically to Ed Wood as well; A loving tribute and look at a mid-Century, California-based outsider artist who had a larger effect on popular culture than it initially seems.

he could sleep sitting up, and his coworkers caught him doing so on film.
