The most obvious inspiration for HBO's Lanterns. How do we feel about it since... you know.
>>155417351Is it good?
I read Martian Manhunter: American Secrets a while ago not know the thing about Gerard Jones but there's a plot point in that comic that gives away that it was written by a pedo.
I like Hal's hair.
>>155417351In spite of Gerard Jones' later activities, he was a damn fine Green Lantern writer. I still think Green Lantern Mosaic was the best portrayal of John Stewart to date (but it was quickly forgotten due to Emerald Twilight).
>>155417351That is a nice cover.
>>155419067what...later activities?
>>155419067>later activitiesHe was definitely doing that shit while writing comics, he just wasn't caught until later. He practically left clues in some of his comics.

>>155417351Was there not a GL title after Crisis until 1990?
>>155420746The GL title became Green Lantern Corps which continued on until 1989, then Hal and John showed up in Action Comics Weekly which was basically an anthology title while at the same time there was Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn in 1989-1990
>>155420820Huh. Interesting.
>>155418879Very.
>>155420820Timeline is off1986 Green Lantern rebranded to Green Lantern Corps with issue #201 to cash in on the flood of successful team books DC was putting out at the time. However, by 1988, editorial changed and two things came down: one was they wanted only 1-3 Green Lanterns so everyone but Hal and Guy and IIRC one of the alien GLs lost their rings. John included. The second was that DC was turning Action Comics into an anthology with issue #601 and with Superman demoted to a two page story, the book needed an a-list headliner. So GLC got cancelled with #224 after the GLC got nuked and moved to Action comics Weekly for the run of the weekly format (#602-642). During this time, two specials were released one to wrap up a dropped plot thread caused when Christopher Priest got fired and replaced by Peter David and the other to set up the 1990 ongoing.Action Comics Weekly was a failure but MIGHT have survived via Neil Gaiman, who was in talks about taking over the GL strip. But his first story pitched got rejected because DC editorial announced out of the blue, and in spite of Priest showing the opposite on page, that Superman didn't know Hal was GL and Hal didn't know Superman was Clark Kent. Gaiman declined to do the strip as a result and ACW went back to being Action Comics with Superman as the star. But before the Green Lantern book relaunched they did Emerald Dawn, which was Hal's Year One. And then did Emerald Dawn 2 after the new ongoing launched telling the untold tale of how Sinestri got kicked out of the GLC
>>155419276>>155419067Can you give the details on these because I'm curious as to how telegraphed these clues are? I'm also interested because there's that page that gets memed with Arisia or whatever but that was before Gerard right? Kinda weird he has a moment like that and then an actual pedo writes him.
>>155419199Jones was a pedophile >>155418879Hit or miss honestly The original plan after the initial arc, was rotating multi part stories focusing on one of the three Earth Lanterns. Hal was in space rebuilding the corps, guy was earth lantern, and John was babysitting a patchwork town of different species including humans that the guardians were holding hostage after the first arc, in a bit that never fucking made sense except to make the Guardians look like monsters.Shit changed though when Mosaic got greenlit. John got removed from the book for said spinoff, while Hal came back to Earth and Guy lost his ring in a battle with Hal but then got a yellow ring and his own spin off. And the book became the Hal Jordan show
>>155421046Hals relationship with Arisa (who looked 14 but was a cliched "my race is super long lived so TECHNICALLY I'm legal by earth standards based on the number of years I've been alive") and the story where Arisa magically ages herself physically when Hal won't date her because she looks young, were all Steve Englehart.
>>155421046There was a bit in Martian Manhunter: American Secrets where a child actor is a debauched pervert freak that tries to rape a little girl.
>>155421046The Jones pedo stuff wasn't in GL but was was implied with Guy Gardner's abusive upbringing with it implied Guy's dad molested him and his brother, who abused Guy to force him to stay quiet) and the UK traverse comic Prime, which involved a stand in for Captain Marvel who had a nasty perverted transformation that was part jody horror and part orgasm
>>155421128Kek, Englehart.>>155421151Yeesh. Wait a child raping another child?
>>155421167>Yeesh. Wait a child raping another child?Yeah, the way it's written feels so weird and lascivious.
