Was this the weakest of the 90s nicktoons? It didn't air on the main Nick channel or Nicktoons as much as the other ones by the 2000s and it's probably the nicktoon you're least likely to see a moment from get brought up. Atleast Wild Thornberrys had Nigel and Rocket Power had Sand in the Potato Salad and Doug had Broke My Grill.
I liked it.
>>155421802I enjoyed it as a kid and I liked their little dramatic plots of worrying about being revealed by Simon the monster hunter and wanted more of that. I specifically remember trying to find out any information I could on the "cancelled movie" that was randomly referenced on the wikipedia page a long time ago, only to never find anything. Turns out some lost media person not terribly long ago did get a pitch script from someone for the movie that never went forward, but nothing has been revealed about it as far as I know.
It was the darkest Nicktoon
>>155422029Ren and Stimpy and Invader Zim were darker series. To be fair, Zim was pulled from main Nick very quickly, but it enjoyed a long life in reruns on Nicktoons and dominated the goth centric Hot Topic.
>>155422060"Where have all the Monsters Gone?" and "Spontaneously Combustible" were darker than Invader Zim and Ren and Stimpy because Aaaah! Real Monsters was a more down-to-earth show
>>155421802>weakest 90s nicktoon has more soul than all the cartoons of the last decade combinedwe're truly in dark times
It wasn't "the weakest" but it was just a weird, gross thing for Nick. They had already pulled back from John K's ideal version of Ren & Stimpy. Rugrats was a massive success and *this* was the follow-up project given them to by Klasky-Csupo.R&S, Rocko, and Real Monsters sorta represent the last moment of "weird kids cartoons" on Nick. After this, Nick shifted the development of Nicktoons toward stuff like Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberrys, and the other end of the spectrum: Angry Beavers and CatDogInvader Zim was such an outlier by the time it aired and it had so many clashes with Nick execs
>>155424149Makes sense
My mom didn't want me to watch this because they used toenails as currency. I still don't know why she hated it because of specifically that.
