>When Claremont says she is Spider-Woman's supposedly dead mother, it almost immediately gets rebuked in Captain America>Decades later, a character conceived as her daughter down to having green hair gets shifted to an A.I.M.-flavored expy of her instead when published. Is she sterile? Her history is going through a lot of stuff.
>>155428000Claremont was actively trying to ruin this character so honestly based telling his ideas to get bent
>>155429302Honestly every time some Marvel writer retconned characters he didn't create into being related, it should have been immediately undone by a more sensible writer just like this was.
>>155428000Wouldn't Viper being Spider-Woman's mother require her to be born around 1900 since Jessica Drew canonically was a child in the 1930s and spent decades in suspended animation?
>>155428000Claremont saw her as an older woman.Pretty much all other writers see her as younger and thus can’t be a mom to a teen/adult.
>>155429383I bet at some point some writer wanted to make Captain America Hawkeye's (great) grandfather from a one night stand before he shipped out.
>>155429951There is a difference between "this character is older than the standard ambiguously mid-to-late 20s age bracket of most cape characters" and "this character is the mother of a character in the standard ambiguously mid-to-late 20s age bracket."
>>155429621I'd assume Claremont was thinking Chthon was involved in keeping her alive that long, but it still doesn't fit with her established past at all.
Also between her reflection here and some panels where her hair was up a few issues ago, her scarring must be actually very minor. This is why others in the allegedly horribly disfigured set like Doctor Doom wear full masks instead of just hair.
Bumping comic thread
Reminder that Viper was married to Wolverine and has also had sex with Red Skull.
