Nolan's Batman was never good.
>>155430700Millennials looked at this and thought it was the most BADASS and profound thing in the world
>>155430700You’re right. Nolan is a weird corporate conservative fascist. The third Batman movie was all about “occupy Wallstreet bad” and “think of the poor billionaires”.
>>155430792It was>>155430842Go back
Adulthood is realizing that Batman Begins is the best one of the trilogy because it bridges the gap between the campiness of Batman Forever/Batman and Robin and the grimdark bullshit that Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises were.
Nolan’s Batman was literally the hero we needed post Batman and Robin and the movie franchise imploding. Post Arkham games, the visuals of Batfleck, or The Batman 2022 it may seem like a bad adaptation, but it got people outside of a niche group of nerds and kids looking at the character seriously again .
>>155430700It was a good trilogy BUT the problem was, it didn't cure cancer. So, into the trash it goes.
>>155430875Also had the best Bale batman voice too. It wasn't nearly as cartoonishly gravely like in the other two.
>>155430875>>155430947It was also the only one of the trilogy that had any semblance of music. TDK and Rises just had that shitty kind of ambiance/tension noises with the soundtrack. Begins had an actual, recognizable soundtrack. And that's one of the reasons why The Batman was good. It actually gave characters like Batman, Selina and The Riddler their own themes and motifs. Zimmer was wasted on TDK and Rises.
>>155430700I have mixed feelings on Nolan's Batman while wellcrafted and directed well outside of fight scenes, they still got the problem of genetic Hollywoodization of Batman with Rachel, groundedness and turning Gotham into a generic city in the sequels also some poor character choices. However I respect that unlike every other Batman film each movie is pretty much an adaptation of actual comic stories and not a completely original story. Begins being Year One and Man Who Falls, Dark Knight being Dark Detective and Long Halloween and Rises being Knightfall and The Cult. The Nolan movies are weird because they're so influenced by the comics but yet seem ashamed of them. Begins would've been perfect if it had no Rachael and different costume designs.
>>155430700The first two are decent but TKDR is just impossible to take seriously at all. Not just because of the bane memes but the writing is just so fucked up from start to finish, every scene has this plastic quality to it that lets you know this was a hastily put together idea due to ledger's death.
>>155430700The Batman movies? Nah, they're good, a lot of that obviously comes from existing material they drew on from the comics and needlessly high brow novels for some reason, but it was fine.Batman the character? Yeah, kind of underwhelming. Some scenes with Gordon, the Tumbler and him just posing convey him as convincingly shadowy and characteristic, but other times he doesn't come across very competent. It's kind of jarring.
>>155431020Funny thing is people who don't read comics think Nolan changed Batman when really only time Batman doesn't act like Batman from the era he's adapting which is 80's and 90's but most people are use to BTAS take or Burton's. really only big out of character moment is in the ending of Dark Knight and Rises and really just the fact he would lie to the city about Dent and quit over something that small.
>>155430875>and the grimdark bullshit that Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises were.gotham was more overtly gothic in begins with more art deco elements and more shadow and night scenesdark knight turned it into chicago while rises is about 50% in daylight, with the entire third act occurring in the middle of the day
>>155431375
How dare you post this outside of /tv/ just to get my attention =.=..
Dark Knight Joker was kinda corny>I am le chaos>I am le broken cog
>>155431437If I was Dent with half my face burnt off and a dead girlfriend and the Joker walked in dressed like a nurse and put a gun to his own head and told me to pull the trigger, well let's just say I wouldn't even be thinking about that gay little coin he keeps in his pocket.
>>155430700All the Goyer scripts for it are awful. Like 60's Batman retarded but with none of the camp or charm. Bale is serviceable in a role that defines thinly-written and has for decades. The villain plot for Begins is dumb as fuck, then they basically just keep repeating the same plot movie after movie. The production values are solid, camera work is good, Nolan gets mostly solid performances from pretty talented actors forced to read garbage. Heath Ledger is the only reason this thing is remembered, or even a trilogy, because the other elements of TDK are literally the worst of the trilogy.Inexplicably, in a movie about a trained ninja warrior fighting evildoers with his fists, the fight choreography is jr. high school fooling around with your buddies in your backyard-tier.Depending on your taste, the Zimmer score is either annoying or great.
>>155430842> “occupy Wallstreet bad” and “think of the poor billionaires”.>conservative
>>15543143789 joker is more entertaining just because he feels more like he is actually trying to make a proper joke and not just making sarcastic responsesalmost all of dark knight jokers comedy is pithy comebacks, which 89 joker also makesthe musuem scene where 89 joker vandalizes all the art pieces but chooses to leave one alone because he likes it gives him more personality outside of just killing people
>>155431458You are gay
>>155431482Batman fights with his elbows.
>>155431482The fact that the third movie climaxes with an homage to the bomb scene from the 1966 movie is really charming, though.
>>155431502As I said, it's all Adam We Batman retarded. They even use The Batcomputer twice in the trilogy to magically solve shit.
>>155431020>Less Hollywoodized script>Suits like comics>The Gotham from Begins>Joker crimes being comedic>No Rachel>Complete rewrite of Rises>Scarecrow being more of a villain>Two Face doesn't die>Bale uses his voice from the game for Batmanthere now you got great Batman films.
>>155431525
>>155431536Fighting CRIME alone would be a vast improvement. Not stopping sociopathic chuds from blowing up millions of people with bombs over and over and over and over, carrying over to The Batman.Museum heists, kidnappings, extortion, bank robberies, BONERS.
>>155431502TDK and TKDR came out in the late 00s and early 10s, where MMA fighting was starting to become mainstream and using elbow strikes and more erratic and sudden cuts is an easy signifier to the audience that this batman fights modern, rather than using hokey karate chops or brawler haymakers that would make him look more like a silver age relicthough a truly accurate MMA depiction would involve more submission holds, that would also involve having batman holding on to joker and talking into his ear
>>155430842Facism is a revolutionary socialist ideology.
>>155430875Why does the gap between seperate adaptations need to be bridged after that many years? They made another Batman film BECAUSE the failure of the previous one had receded enough into the past.
>>155431601Let's not even pretend that any of the trilogy have anything remotely like good-looking fighting scenes. If you remember them as such, it's childish nostalgia and not having seen them in ages. The fighting is all completely terrible.
>>155431586the dark knight literally has a bank heist and a drug dealthe plot with the two bombs is suitably dramatic because its the big third act showdown, but prior to that joker pulls off some regular murders and kidnappingsthe main issue is that superman barely does detective work, and when he does its just feeding evidence to the supercomputer to detect the bad guys location instead of giving the audience clues to follow
I remember there was a fan film sequel to Begins I watch on Youtube as a kid. Here I found it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipxrB3EjGXohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoVRV76Y7K8''Batman: Dark Descent is a re-edited version of Eric Smigiel's films, Batman Brutality and Batman Duality, the fan made sequels to Batman Begins.''
>>155431645>>155431482Any time there's 3 or more people in a scene, there's idiots just doing "action things" that make no sense.
>>155431645not defending the fight scenes as good, just pointing out that the use of short elbow strikes did have a purpose, which was to capitalize on what looked like "real" martial arts to people at the timethough obviously, they ended up looking just as cartoonish as what they replaced, they were using signifiers that told the audience this batman fights with contemporary martial arts instead of karate or judo
>>155431437>I am le chaosWasn't he just lying about that? He said that when he was trying to manipulate Dent. The ultimate point of his plan is chaos but moral corruption...and it fails.
>>155431624Nope
>>155431657>superman
>>155431703lol yes
>>155431690I refuse to believe that actual fight coordinators were used in any of the trilogy, and thus I find it highly unlikely anyone was trying to communicate anything through "fighting styles".The first Rocky movies have more to do with realistic boxing than the Nolan Trilogy has with actual martial arts.
>>155431692its implied at the very end that this joker ultimately had no real goal except his own amusement, when he decides to just blow up the two boats himself with only a sound of mild disappointment implying that corrupting people and making them into murderers is just funny for him and not some deep seated beliefbut it comes so late into the story, and its glossed over so quickly, that the average audience member wont really catch that and instead will unironically buy the things he was overtly saying for the other 2 hours of the movie
>>155431729>that the average audience memberThis is a man who relishes his own farts.Savors them.
>>155430875Rewatched Begins recently. It's not very good. Conceptually, it's somewhat interesting, but the execution feels rushed and flimsy.I haven't rewatched the other two, but I didn't enjoy TDK that much, and TDKR was laughable the first time.>>155431525Yeah, that was really gay.
>>155431729David S. Goyer has never penned a complex or even mildly sophisticated script in his entire goddamned career, this is just head-canon and fart-huffing.
>>155431748it is a trivially true statement, since almost every person who talks about that movie still just assumes that the joker in that movie is unironically trying to make a statement about morality or human nature rather than just being a sicko who gets a kick out of people suffering
>>155430700I pirated TDK and watched it like 10 times when I was 14
>>155430700his face and his voice were never good, but there were good qualities.
>>155431812You were the audience it was created for.
>>155431721Not even
>>155431831I watched TDKR in the cinema but was so anxious about a dyed hair joker guy shooting me that I couldn't focus on the movie. I think Aurora was the first and last mass shooting that seriously affected me, I got immediately desensitized after.
>>155431722even if it was unintentional it still does align with the general taste of the 00s and early 10s and how they imagined "realism" , distinct from actually being real that is
The contrast with Iron Man is this; The live-action Iron Man movies made the character more engaging and thrilling than he had been in every other form of media, including comics. The live action Batmen are almost the complete low-point of Batman, the comics and even the cartoons and video games do the concept more justice. Then Snyder literally tried to make Batman into Iron Man, with Barry Allen as his Peter Parker, and it was fucking terrible.
>>155431624>Revolutionary>German socialists already did it in the 1930sSure thing anon.
>>155430700I've always hated it. Fell asleep watching the first one in theaters. Hated Ledger Joker day one. Hated Bane. Hate Bale's gravelly shitty voice. Hate Nolan being such a pretentious fag that doesn't know how people actually talk.
>>155431624Corporatist not socialist. It was about fusing the machinery of capitalism with a strong state. Not abolishing private ownership
>>155432771>everything in the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the statewow so much capitalism
>>155432786...and tell me, did Mussolini kill all the capitalists like the Bolsheviks did?
>>155432817You seem to have an extremely infantile view of socialism. I would recommend reading Lenin and Stalin before embarrassing yourself further.
The Dark Knight is about the war on terrorJoker = Osama Bin Laden/Al-QaedaBatman = US Government
>>155431941>Then Snyder literally tried to make Batman into Iron Man, with Barry Allen as his Peter Parker, and it was fucking terrible. It could've worked.
Anyone have a personal canon watch order? Fit whatever movies and shows into your own continuity.
>>155431322grimdark doesn't inherently mean gothic anon. In this sense it means trying to be more gritty, realistic, and more doomer in it's tone. Begins still feels like a comic book movie. TDK and TDKR feel like typical 2000s action drama movies that just happen to feature comic book characters.
>>155432878If it was a Robin, maybe, but Flashboy didn't fly so good.
