My younger undisclosed family members watched the first seasons of Ladybug, genuinely liked the first sea son of Ducktales, and spent a worrying amount of time catching the Ultimate Spiderman and TT Go! Cartoons all in roughly the same 3 year period, they're quite older now and almost solely watch animes or life action series, albeit they did an exception for the last season of Dragon Prince, only to get all the more disappointed once it came out

They're grown mostly apathic, you never know how good a series ending is gonna be, if it comes out at all, and there's not much of a reason to keep up to date with cartoons when I'm TVE only person they know has any interest on them, none of their friends seen interested either, albeit I coaxed them into binge watching the Start Wars animated series (and for some weird reason, Smallville)

I deal with a bunch of preschool-aged kids. Nearly all of them enjoy Paw Patrol. Some of them enjoy the cute dogs, others are into the cool vehicles. Bluey and Peppa Pig seem to be fairly popular, too.
Child-friendly versions of action heroes have constant popularity among boys. See for example the Spidey And His Amazing Friends or the Lego Star Wars shorts.
A handful of boys I know are super into Transformers. They love vehicles and toys that have moving parts, so the transformation gimmick appeals to them. There doesn't seem to be a lot of age-appropriate Transformers content for them, though. Mostly just Rescue Bots, and Rescue Bots Academy.

The kids who are into action stuff tend to find villain characters and combat scenes really exciting. They express that they'd like to see the grown-up versions of their heroes instead of the soft and safe child-friendly takes. However, they may not be ready to handle it even if it excites them.
Young children learn things by copying what they see. If they see for example sword-fighting on TV, it can inspire them to pick up sticks and hit each other until one of them accidentally gets hurt. Children can also get really upset about stuff that scares them. One kid I know saw just an image of the Joker, and got some nightmares about him because of that.
Children's screentime habits will ultimately depend on their parents. The parents will usually study age ratings before letting their children watch a show. They also use their own intuition; some kids are more sensitive about scary scenes than some others. Sometimes the parents decide to let their kids watch some old series that they used to watch themselves and know to be age-appropriate.

From what I've heard, children who are old enough to grow out of Paw Patrol will usually replace it with Minecraft and other videogames these days.

Do they still care about SpongeBob? Feels like only 20-30 year olds give a shit anymore. Even the latest movie barely outgrossed the original and that isn't accounting for 20 years of inflation
