The first time I saw the strip this scene is based off it broke my heart and immediately made Peppermint Patty my favorite character.I had a girlfriend once who had hair and freckles like Patty. She grew up really fat so by the time we dated in our mid 20s, she had a lot of issues about her body and thought nobody could ever be attracted to her. I was /fit/ and had dated a lot of pretty women, so her insecurity about being a chubby freckled girl caused her to fear infidelity from me. Eventually her insecurity became too much and I had to break things off with her even though I was head over heels in love with her. She broke my heart and left a hole in me that still hasn't been filled. I wish I could've told her AND Peppermint Patty that I like them just the way they are, and that they ARE a great beauty. Pic related is a letter she sent me after we broke up and I moved to a different state. Sorry about blogposting
