First of all, I just wanted to say how it good it is to be among you guys again before getting into the review for this week's premiere. But I won't get too bloggy, let's just get into my thoughts with the episodes.First was the Lily episode. I admit, although there were some things I like about it, I can take it or leave it. I think Lily is only strong enough as a lead when she's got a one hundred percent Loud supporting cast. I'll give you an example of one of, what I think, is one of the finest episodes in the show and is a Lily episode. It's that one where Lily wants to taste ice cream for the first time and they've hyped it up to her, and the whole story takes place from her warped type of...I don't know what to call it, Rugrats perspective where everyone is exaggerated and funny. I thought that episode wasn't just funny, it was also well-made, original and experimental too. I'm a guy that doesn't generally like when they go too high concept or off-formula but like I said, that episode was impressive, well crafted, cool concept and the experiment worked. I wouldn't want a bunch like that but that one was really good. But that was when Lily was an actual baby, not a toddler, and couldn't talk at all.This one had, I would say, two things going for it. One, it was an interesting bit of character development that showed Lily is the most like Lincoln, she is a schemer and she won't let anything hold her back, and she finds it simple to command the peers around her and get them behind her. Definitely reminds me of her brother.

>>155537542Second, Dairyland itself is a beautifully drawn and cool looking place. There's way more than these pics but my current VLC codec is giving me trouble. This crew is, I would say, probably the best when it comes to drawing backgrounds and locations, or maybe they just benefit from that amazing, warm Loud House house style. It's just great looking, there's no way around it. When they're high up top on the rollercoaster and the whole place just looks like this sunny, pleasant, gorgeous blob from up above, it gives you an enormous sense of well being, at least it does me. When they're cruising through the place and the colors are just so welcoming and nourishing to look at, the different structures, I personally find it to be real, real relaxing. It's just one of those things that makes you feel good to look at it, I don't know if that's the case for everyone but for sure I do.Bad parts? Like I said, Lily's not much of a leading man/girl except in some very specific circumstance where the other Louds can back her up. The best parts of the episode were definitely the ones where she was with her sisters or they were cameoing, or like Luna running away cuz she thinks it's a rat under the popcorn box, that sort of stuff. Honorable mention to the redheaded cutie with her kid. Ultimately, the episode didn't annoy me, but it didn't wow me either. If I ever watch this episode again it'll be purely for the visuals and atmosphere which were, like I said, on point. The people that work on this show are very good at consistently delivering on that aspect of it. It occurs to me that I don't know a single episode in The Loud House that visually looks bad, and when they look good, they *really* look good. I'm glad the colorists and lighting people and location designers or whatever they're called always turn in such fine work, as a fan being able to pretty much always count on them to produce good visuals regardless of anything else going on is really, really sweet.

Well first of all, getting one on one time with Lincoln is something that feels pretty unusual, so to see him by himself in the arcade, truly by himself, no sisters, no Clyde, no crew, no nothing, was a really interesting feel. Arcade looks great, of course, but I found the solitude of it to be a real intriguing kind of feel, made it come off strangely intimate. You could say 'well, maybe they didn't have money to draw extras considering the episode has such an expensive-looking-to-animate setpiece later', but in that case this is a limitation that worked in their favor, because it's a real cool vibe, Lincoln hanging out alone at the arcade at night, and it gets MAJORLY cooler when you find out the only other person there is this cute teen girl working the register, watching him. As you can imagine, my almonds were activated. I really, really, really enjoyed those solitary moments between the two with no one else around. I like that girl's design, I like her voice, and I like her personality and how she interacted with Lincoln. Why BS? It definitely made my mind come alive. I almost want to say it was my favorite part because it was so unique, despite the fact Lincoln and Leni had such great chemistry and time together in the rest of the episode.Okay, so, I better get out of that arcade before I start going on and on about what could have happened there that night, just the two of them...

I admit, I knew how the episode was going to end the minute Lincoln put that lavalamp in his backpack after he was told it was defective, but I wasn't sure he was going to get it in the first place after that chick sucked up all his tickets, that threw me off the scent. I thought it was going to be one of those things where while he was getting all the tickets again someone else would have swooped in and got the lamp, maybe Chandler or something, and it would be one of those what can I trade you for it episodes, which I don't think would have been nearly as good having that dude harsh the mellow, but anyway it wasn't like that. Surprised me and I was delighted that things played out so it would be a Leni/Lincoln episode, was DEFINITELY pumped when I realized that's what I was about to get. Side note: is this the first time any of the girls has ever called him 'Linc' instead of 'Linky'? I couldn't believe that when I heard it. I guess he's regarded as more mature by them than he used to be.

I guess because there was no natural sunlight at Gus's, and the whole thing felt kind of sultry since they were alone, I got the impression it was after sundown. But anyway, after that, the episode played out in a way I thought was interesting. Trying to figure out the right gift with all of Clyde's prequisites, stumbling on the Rip Hardcore thing and then having to chase him down in the jungle. This is the part I thought looked expensive. The totally new environment, that visually imposing sunset, again, the way everything looks, the water effects and everglades environments and everything else. The joke itself too, the closing joke, was funny 'Happy early Earth Day present, Claude' to Fiona's second cousin. Now I would have preferred if, I don't know, somehow it could have gotten uploaded to the cloud so Clyde could get his gift, him just letting it slide and not getting rewarded by the universe for it is not the way I prefer things to go in the metatextual sense, but overall that's such a small thing in the face of the rest of the episode. In the end I think it was definitely a fine outing. Some stuff holds it back from being truly great but it's very, very solid. I thought it was interesting how practically all of it took place at night, too, or at fiery sunset, kind of an interesting visual vibe (though they did have that moment at home sitting on the couch in the morning to break it up, which was nice). I might take some screencaps of the swamp area later because especially the part where they're boating in has all kinds of really interesting perspective shots and effects and really looks nice. Quality episode imo. But yeah, you bet I'm still thinking about that ticket taker qt, even after everything I said.

The new Clyde voice on the other hand I find to be a little soft, a little lacking in vitality, but just a little bit, overall he does a good job, and if I have to take an okay Clyde voice for a great Lincoln voice, it's a trade I'll make every time. Finally I know the episode orders are all jumbled up but I've been really enjoying this season so far. I haven't watched enough of it to say if it's better than the last one but I've dug a lot of these episodes a lot. I still need to watch the episode from last week and while I'm weighing whether or not to do it today (I like to make them last so I don't usually watch more than one new half hour in a day), I don't know, I'll think about it just so I can be current with you guys. But in the meantime, that's my review.

>>155540025Unironically same. I think a lot of people to this day underestimate just how great the draw of one boy/ten girls really is. It's essential really, the central dynamo of the whole concept. The sister chronicles is a much more promising idea for a spinoff imo. Or even just tweak it so it's Lincoln with ten daughters and a son, but I honestly question whether people would accept his son in his spot. I don't think they accepted Ken 10 in Ben's spot in those future episodes. Lincoln raising a bunch of girls like his sisters with Ronnie as his wife is an interesting idea.Sometimes I think another way to go would be the Louds as young adults, set maybe ten years in the future. Maybe they all 'made it' in their respective fields but are forced to live all together again for some reason in one house, for some span of time. No kids except maybe Lori's, or just make Lily the 'kid' of the show. I like the one you linked more than the one you posted since the bodytypes are more accurate, even though I was just gushing over that style of body before, but these are more accurate to the characters which does come first imo. They're both very, very cute, and I like Lucy's painted toenails and feet, her torso, really all of her. Ditto for Lynn, but for her I quite appreciate that extra hint of tightness and muscle to her body, lower body fat, a tite tummy, but still enough give to her that her bikini string sinks into her skin and makes it bulge a little around it. And those rising hips and the pelvic bone, you bet, it really comes together for her. Lincoln is right. They look great. Though for me, in this one, it's Lynn.
