Plus a lot of characters are related and have families if you want to do more of your incest art. Very little of the setting is tapped into in the main series with some supplemental videos, great characters barely talking to each other and then disappearing etc. Like early in the series Ruby is presented as this weapon maniac and that almost all of the hunter weapons are personally crafted by the Huntsmen, but then in volume 4 they start by getting weird upgrades for their weapons from some generic ass village blacksmith. You can feel that while Monty was a guy that wrote mostly the outline and focused on making cool fight animation leaving the writing to his friends, he still was the guy that kept them following his original plan and serving as quality control in the first two volumes. As his health deteriorated during volume 3 (I think it was 3) the writing and animation really deteriorated into cheap drama, character derailment, lesbian ship teasing and bad inspirational speeches. IMO they should've explored Beacon more and rebuild it in V4, using it as a base they would return to between their globetrotting adventures for some filler and character moments.

High guardian spice should have gotten a few years to hash things out and been made into a group project she/he could flesh out with other creatives. Actual creatives not whoever is in their friendgroup at the time. Ditch the school setting and make it into a small active town. They are all apprentice adventurers who have part time jobs to make ends meet and live in the same building. I would have centered the show around Parsley as a apprentice blacksmith who moonlights as an adventurer. She has the most open ended story and can work very well as the lead. She's also waifu tier and I'll fist fight anyone who says otherwise. Rosemary, a stacked genki tomboy who talks as if she's always on an adventure even when she's just going to get takeout. Is searching for the secret of her fallen warrior knigth mother. Sage a petite kind hearted(but this leads her to do stupid stuff) mage who always has her nose in a book and is a bit obsessed when it comes to magic. Tries to figure out the secret of magic and became a sorceress first class.Thyme, svelt goth delicious brown girl who is more emotional then she seems. Raven except a bit more serious. The reason why I gave them a shared home was to have it act as a sort of dorm and the advernturers guild allows for both teachers/mentors a meeting place and a place to get homework/tests aka adventures and tests. And apprenticeships work as a sort of tradeschool. The thing people like about the school setting is that it's familiar and is a mini community and setting for different same aged children teens young adults to interact. A school setting is no different from a sitcom setting in an office.

I really dislike this aspect to fantasy settings, I feels like it gamifies everything and takes away from it all. I think the concept of a school/guild for heroes *could* if it's treated more like an actual Order. The trainees are more like squires for established warriors that they shadow rather than school kids, but attending some classes can work. No grades though, nor a ranking system.
