And even then, I considered drawing this actually showing what was done to her, but I prefer the suggestive nature of the partial outline. Why? Well, let me put it this way – there was a scene in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre that involved a girl being dragged into a meat locker and having her back impaled on a hook. As the story goes, the director wanted to actually show the penetration, but the MPAA said that if they showed it, the rating for the movie would have to go up a notch, so they compromised – instead of actually showing it, they showed you the hook, they showed you the girl, and one was supposed to make the connection without actually showing it. And that, my grossed out friends, is real horror: not in your face gore, but suggestive fear that puts a shiver down your spine. Hence also why I will not tell you what General Werres did to this girl. And yes, he DID do something horrific. I got the idea from my Modern Philosophy teacher, when he described the works of the Marquis de Sade as “Like a telephone book directory on how to mutilate someone.
