>>155574176Robot gore is part of the appeal yes (but that's mostly in Bayformers) but the stories they tell and the characters also play a part. I also like certain voice actors like Scott McNeil, David Kaye, Corey Burton, Garry Chalk, and so on. Lastly, robots that transform into vehicles are simply fucking cool. Im not really surprised that they're toys that sell well because why WOULDNT kids like something like that?

>>155575010It is reasonable since the show did use some G1 stuff as backstory, and not in a vague way like Animated where it avoided showing the robot modes of the corresponding characters between G1 and Animated(except Megatron). I would not be surprised if we start getting more like that where Season 1 and 2 of the G1 show are canon but it gets an AU continuation. Basically what a lot of Godzilla or Halloween movies did. Keep the early stuff canon then reboot.Back when TF Prime was out there was one guy who proposed the idea that Prime was similarly a follow up to an alternate G1 season 1/2 that was slightly different to account for some things, but basically had the broad events. I thought that was a cool idea.
