I totally get the corporate meddling reason as to why BLoSC material never made it into the films but what was the in-universe reason as to why Andy only received Buzz considering he was obsessed with him and his show? He simply didn't care for the other characters? His mom drew a line and didn't want to spoil him? Both of those seem implausible.

I always thought Buzz was like ROM The Spaceknight: designed as a toy first and then the backstory came later. Buzz's lore is a flimsy Star Wars rip-off condensed into a paragraph on the back of his box, but he has a badass commercial and several play features. Zurg comes a few years later along with a new version of Buzz (TS2), and finally the lore gets fully fleshed out in-universe after the events of TS2 when the Star Command show/movie comes along.

And just because he has a favorite doesn't mean that he has no love for the other characters and wouldn't be tempted to have his complete crew at his side during play sessions.

>>155577962Sorry anon, I just find the idea that Andy loved Buzz, loved his Buzz Lightyear-themed bedsheets, loved his Buzz Lightyear-themed posters, loved his Buzz Lightyear-themed lunchbox, loved watching the show, loved the three little green aliens who were also characters added into the show, but finally decided that he was satisfied and had no inkling to add Mira, XR, Booster, or Zurg to his collection.You introduce a kid to DC, Marvel, Star Wars, Mario, Sonic, Pokémon, or whatever, he isn't going to be satisfied solely with his one favorite character after having a big interest in everything else the IP in question has to offer.
