what is the most heated argument or discussion you have ever gotten into about comic books?
>>155644804Scott pilgrim is very mid and honestly the comic is the worst version of it terrible pacing the movie is better.
>>155644804Like in person right ? Because nif it's online it's just going to be any of the numerous debates /co/ has about comics
>>155644834FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING SON A BITCH I’M GOING TO RAPE YOU TO DEATH UNTIL YOU DIE!!
>>155644804is...is she enjoying it ?
>>155644892Yeah that's pretty much the same response I got, and once again there’s no counter argument.
>>155644804>unbothered>relaxed>moisturized>in my lane
I've never had a heated conversation about comics before. I'm assuming you have to be autistic to care that much.
>>155644981fake fan
>>155644955>no counterargument“The original is best.”
>>155644985I'm not a "fan" of anything, no faking about it. I just enjoy comics occasionally.
>>155645019>I'm not a "fan" of anything,fake fan
>>155644804My brother and I got into an argument a few years ago about how popular Wolverine actually is. That's probably the most heated one I've had.
>>155645028fan is just another word for cuck, only you're a cuck for intellectual property or a corporation instead of a woman
>>155645136>fan is just another word for cuckyou have no SOVL
I argued with some Batwank about Tdkr on how Batman is a crazy violent idiot.
>>155644834The comic starts flat out feeling like a teen drama with "adult" characters, it never felt like a huge problem to me in the movie version because of its pacing.
I liked doomsday clock AND three jokers
>>155644804I've only gotten into arguments here. I've expressed my honest opinions about stuff I read, and others would get so angry they'd resort to insults after having been articulate on previous posts.
>>155647247thats what makes this place fun
>>155647987It does, but also I'd rather have a sensible discussion every so often.
>>155649013Happens all the time on here
>>155649399No it doesn’t, you lying Jew.
>>155649409maybe your opinions just suck you ever think of that
A store clerk tried to kick me out of the shop because I said Bendis's Avengers was kind of shitty. Then the manager overheard him and fired the guy on the spot and gave me a few back issues that have been sitting in the bins for a while.
>>155649652you got a dude fired? not cool anon. he had a wife and kids to feed
>>155649399Not as often as I'd like.
>>155644966That shit probably happens twice a week. Probably more if he has tabletop players around on the weekends.
>>155644804I don't read comic books
>>155650795based
That Tom King's Mister Miracle is shit
>>155651057fuck you dude
>>155644804I was sending Dan Didio hatemail at his personal Facebook account back in the day. He was surprisingly gracious about it.
Someone on /co/ once called me a fag. Haunts me to this day.
>>155644966This is the face of a man who reads comics and doesn't involve himself with online communities
>>155652007did you get back at him in any way ? cant let that kind of shit slide
>>155652007To be fair, you were talking about sucking dog dicks in the Friday Make Anthro thread.
>>155649523No, you suck! Dicks. Because you’re a Jew faggot.
>>155652095lol gay
>>155652095no u
I got into a /co/-tier Miles argument with a store clerk who only recently started working at this chain of shops. Perhaps even below /co/. He was genuinely supporting Miles as a character because he had more powers than Peter and sidestepped any point about all his stories being rip-offs or the personality not being different than Peter fundamentally, only Ganke and his family being there are the reasons he is different but through all their interactions, he ends up a generic protag who gets along ok with people. So yeah believe or not when I say I didn't get that heated. Yes, I was seething on the inside about how shitty the points were and I froze up when I had to phrase it the right way, then and there.
>>155644804Probably when someone said that Jason Todd was despised for being a punk, and I told him that Jason being hated and getting killed for it was DC's narrative rewriting to defend Denny O'Neil and his team fucking up.
>>155653184i dont believe this actually happened
>>155644836YOU TAKE THAT BACK
>>155644804oh! decades ago I got in a conversation with a CBG who didn't read as a CBG because he was one of those smelly leather coat vampire larpers, and he's like, do you like comic books and i'm like, sure, and somehow he's talking about Danger Girl a comic i have literally never heard of at that point and I'm talking back about fuck idk now, it was something that I thought he was talking aboutand then the conversation just kind of came to an end and we were working anyway sohe starts it up again, like all day, every time he sees me, as if there's some kind of closure let alone victory to be had from talking at cross purposes with someone you barely knownot a whole lot of shouting but god damn that guy was a cunt
>>155644804I got into an argument with an acquaintance after I told him that I didn't want to hear his opinions on comics because he doesn't read them, he just watches youtubers talk about them and parrots their opinions. He tried telling me that he consumes the same story as me just in a different format. Tried to liken it to paper books vs audiobooks. His excuse for why he didn't read them was price so I told him how and where to pirate and he got all on his moral high ground about pirating comics.I don't really see how watching a youtuber give you the full synopsis while showing the pages is any different from pirating though. If anything it's worse imo.
>>155644804AF15 is not a rare comic.
>>155646604No, you didn't.
>>155644804Are we having this kind of discussion?
>>155649399It really, really doesn’t. You just get called a shill or a DC/Marvel intern if you don’t agree with the hivemind
>>155654647yes I did . most of ghost machine sucks though
>>155653800>CBG???
>>155656285All of that shit sucks.
>>155644804I think the worst argument was actually because of a comic-based superhero show. So, the argument started because of the character Red X and his "canon" comic book identity where I said it sucked and didn't make sense. They agreed with that, but argued with me when I said Red X should have been Grant Wilson.
>>155653967You're right
>>155644804I worked at a comic shop for a few years and one time my manager and a co-worker were talking with a regular customer. Big spender, had a hefty pull list. Was some kind of professional like a banker or dentist.Anyway, he was buying his books and taking very proudly about going to the local comic con and paying big money for a meet and greet lunch date with some mid level celebrity. He was really excited about it because he’s a huge fan. My boss and colleague heard about it and they thought it was a stupid waste of money and started teasing about it. “You’d have to be a retard to do that” or something I think is what they said. I don’t think they understood how much it meant to him and he took it really personally to the point that he said “well if all this [comics and nerd content] is so retarded maybe I won’t come here and waste my money anymore”.They were so afraid of losing him that the boss had call him personally and apologized saying it was a misunderstanding. They got him back but they really had to eat shit.
>>155656302From context clues, you could assume the Guy he was talking to liked Comic Books, anon.
>>155656302Comic Book Gays
>>155657883>they really had to eat shitAs they should because why are they teasing a regular that's a big spender. That's shooting yourself in the foot!
>>155657883>I worked at a comic shop for a few yearsnerd
>>155649652and then everyone clapped
>>155659747shut up yuropoor
I lost a friend due to Rebirth, Metal, and Death Metal. When it started I had no interest in it at all and my friend went on a tirade because of that. Over the next couple years he became more and more obsessed with it and more aggressive with me about me not wanting to read it. He started making it very personal. One night he tried shoving me after a few drinks when went to a bar/club with a few friends after a convention for not engaging him in another debate over it. Him and I stopped being friends after that. According to our mutual friends sometime after that he just started talking about it less and less and then when The Darkest Knight became a thing he finally started to hate it. We haven't talked since that night.
>>155660364if you're not making all this up that friend sounds like a faggot good riddance
>>155644804Back when I used to play Magic and FFH had just come out, I was the only person at my LGS who was willing to call out how bad MCU Spidey actually is. I was arguing with 4 people at once and got really condescending I don’t even like Spider-Man that much. I got baited by Slott to read a lot more Spider-Man stories during the SSM-era and haven’t checked back since
>>155660666>Magicone of my friends keeps asking me to play but i think that shits gay . also checked
>>155652010I really does suck how both online and IRL communities for comics kinda suck. I don't really need to explain how a lot of /co/ is bad for that (and obviously worse places like reddit), but IRL, you still meet politically obsessed faggots who see the medium as capeshit or a means to show representation and social issues, instead of presenting interesting stories, great jokes, stuff like that.
>>155660893It*
i dont believe any of you actually go to comic book stores
>>155644804I got thrown out of the biggest LCS in my city because I called the cashier a retard for recommending me Bendis Superman. He broke his own arm trying to swing at me and falling, I didn't even touch the guy, just kept calling him a fat retard
>>155660547Not making it up. He was always an aggressive person but it got so much worse when he got on SSRIs and Benzos and COVID probably didn't help. Only one of our old mutual friends is still friends with him but that's only barely.
i seethe at people on this board daily
>>155644804I simply don't care for post-crisis Superman
>>155647247I'm sure your honest opinions were shit
>>155662026based
>>155661180>SSRIsthey helped me
bump cause this is an interesting question for a thread imo
>>155660666>satan plays magicThat explains the smell.
>>155662424If so, some really good arguments as to why I was wrong for thinking the way I do would have come up. Never happened.
>>155663969Not very much, by the looks of it.
