Animators are adults and many grew up with alternative comics and other more subversive media. it’s possible that this could simply be a deliberately sick joke they’re making.

Bullying and sexual harassment wasn't a thing in my school till they showed these videos to us. Literally the moment school got out me and the girl I liked went behind the school and felt each other up. I'd characterize it as the shit you'd do if you were trying to start a fight, but the usual targets of bullying were the weird kids who would just take it (and as such, were kinda signaled out as kids who were "okay" to fuck with.) Also, like other anons pointed out, 90% of the time it was done by older kids to younger kids, because if you did that to your peers they probably would punch you. Nobody ever really got "beaten up" unless they had really, really pissed someone else off.Between girls, it was pretty much always being bitchy and collectively just refusing to acknowledge your existence, and/or spreading insane rumors to try and ruin whatever relationships you had. It was pretty much always done as a group against an individual, unlike boys where it was pretty evenly split between individual fuckery and team fuckery. Shit like Chinese burns or the cigarette game was usually done as fuckery between friends, and would probably be better defined as hazing.
