>Lianna broke Sinestro out of prison. They are working together to forge a yellow power ring and build a new army, and want John to join them.
>John refuses, stops Sinestro before he can complete the yellow ring, and kills Lianna, something only Sinestro has been able to do.
>John turns Sinestro over to the Guardians and keeps Hal’s ring against their wishes, because his will is so strong it auto-charges the ring. Guy later warns John that if he steps out of line the Guardians will send the entire Green Lantern Corps after him.
>Hal is alive. Noah is a Manhunter, abducted him, cloned him, killed the clone and is keeping the real Hal prisoner in a secret facility for reasons that will only be revealed in season 2. This reveal is the episode’s ending/cliffhanger.

Moggo was right here with me.

HBO insider here

To answer questions

The original version of Lanterns had Hal Jordan die. Lindeloff and Gunn also explicitly hid this from DC executives along with not showing them the episodes, which was what Lindeloff did with Watchmen as well.

With Superman flopping and Gunn increasingly in hot water, plus HBO executives getting told all about the "John Stewart is a DEI Lantern and Hal has a large vocal fan base who doesn't like it when people shit on Hal to prop up John" by agents of the Ellisons, the two were basically forced under threat of having the show written off, to hand over the rough cuts of the episodes. Where they saw Hal gets shitted on to prop up John and killed off in the first episode.

Needless to say, HBO was pissed and so were the Ellisons when the executives confirmed to them what a giant anti-white PR time bomb they had on their hands.

The solution was mandated with such intensity that Lindeloff and Gunn were left utterly terrified and fearful for their livelihoods.

The show was EXPLICITLY delayed for massive super secret reshoots, complete with HBO paying Kyle Chandler a pretty penny to drop everything for said reshoots.

Hal still "died" but now his death is done in a way to be a cover for Hal being kidnapped by Thanagarians (the aliens that Lindeloff could use on the budget he was given).

From that point, the rest of the series was recut, removing at least 20-25 minutes to insert in a season long Hal vs Thanagarians arc. A new Hawk girl was also cast (played by Maude Apatow) and to make Hal fans feel less fucked over, Lindeloff was forced to make Hawk girl HAL'S love interest; effectively cockblocking John getting with her.

Finally the final episode was rewritten to make the Thanagarians the secret bug bad of the Manhunters and Hal save the day. And to give the show a definitive ending because HBO are fucking one with Lindeloff and his bull shit.
>>
Gunn pretty much went along with this 100%, stabbing Lindeloff in the back and being utterly submissive to the FURIOUS HBO executives. This was around the time I should note, that Gunn was getting torn a new asshole over the negative test screenings of Supergirl and even got asked point blank, "why are you even using John if Guy Gardner is sup to be the movie Green Lantern?".

Lindeloff meanwhile was all but straight up castrated. Lindeloff always assumed he'd have JJ Abrams protecting him but he does not have that and is FURIOUS Gunn stabbed him in the back. Adding injury to insult, he wasn't allowed to to film the new material; Judd Apatow did, in exchange for getting his kid more work and to get in good with the Ellisons via his super secret scab work; as Apatow knows that the Ellisons will blackball talent from the merged WB/Paramount group.
>>
Finally, Chandler got payed big time for dropping everything and filming an entire season worth of material after the fact. John Cena level money. And if he has said no, HBO was going to pretty much pull the entire show from airing, write off the series, and pretty much kill the entire James Gunn DC Universe. No Superman 2, no Clayface, no Supergirl. Just eat the loss and leave the Ellisons Reeve's Batman 2 and let them deal with the radioactive wasteland they'd be inheriting...

Do the last two chapters feel weird?

What is the planned setup for Parallax in season 2?
>>
>>155662904
Don't feed the schizos
>>
>>155662904
There is no season 2. The entire reason why the show is the way it is presented is because you can't properly do Green Lantern on a TV budget. Lanterns is a limited series, not something that's gonna keep ongoing. The point of the show is just to serve as an origin story for John Stewart and why he'll be a Green Lantern in Man of Tomorrow, which Pierre is confirmed to being in.

Hal suspected Abin Sur had a passenger, a prisoner, so he set up an alert in case anything fucky went down where Abin crashed. That is explained in the show.

The rest of your points are valid.

Hal's clearly got some bad blood with Ch'p so John claiming he was at the funeral was the first sign he was lying, so he followed up by asking about Mogo, who obviously can't attend on account of being a fucking planet.

>Why did Hal go to prison at all for something the Manhunter did?
Because nobody knows that it was Zoey who fired those orbital lasers on the town. They just knew about the medical shit.
>>Why did Hal plant a message to his Hal o Gram to tell him to go to Nebraska in the first place?
Because of Abin Sur's death.
>Why do they keep calling Hal an "oath breaker"?
He got involved in Earth terrestrial affairs, which is kinda out of his jurisdiction.
>Why did Hal bother announcing to the world his identity back in the 80s anyway?
Probably because he didn't like the whole secrete identity thing. And probably because he's an egotistical prick.
>Why does Hal act like he's not friends with other GLC members yet keeps referencing guys like Ch'p and Mogo attending his funeral?
Because he isn't friends with anyone. And like previously, he's an egotistical prick and probably expected everyone to posthumously kiss his ass.
>Why does the show just expect non comic readers to understand why Sinestro defected?
In no way shape or form does the show indicate expectation for the audience to be aware of as to Sinestro's motivations for betraying the corps.
>What was the point of throwing Carol Ferris in this series if they're not going to reference their past love and treat the OC doughnut cop like the more important character?
Because they fucking can and presumably they're toying with doing a prequel series that'll involve the two of them.
>Why are Manhunters in this show inconsistent in terms of peacekeeping function? They're first presented as predecessors of the GLC, yet their strategy is to seduce the alpha of every society and use fear gas to kill opposition???
That was just Zoey who operates like that. Back when they were more numerous they didn't need to use subversion and infiltration tactics. They're muder-bots.
>>
>>155666382
Fucking hell you're sad lmao
>>
>>155666382
>Because nobody knows that it was Zoey who fired those orbital lasers on the town. They just knew about the medical shit.
That doesn't explain why Hal went to prison. That's really easy to clear up with the goddamn satellites, which several were on the ground.
>Because of Abin Sur's death.
That happened YEARS prior and doesn't answer the question at all. The ring tells him to go there because the plot says so.
>He got involved in Earth terrestrial affairs, which is kinda out of his jurisdiction.
They called him an "oath breaker" for merely talking to Sinestro, which is stupid.
>Probably because he didn't like the whole secrete identity thing. And probably because he's an egotistical prick.
That's purely your headcanon
>Because he isn't friends with anyone. And like previously, he's an egotistical prick and probably expected everyone to posthumously kiss his ass.
The show has a habit of outright lying by the way. There's no evidence to suggest the corp hates him. Also you keep saying he's a prick, yet consistently does the right thing and is charismatic to people
>In no way shape or form does the show indicate expectation for the audience to be aware of as to Sinestro's motivations for betraying the corps.
So he's basically worthless and the show wastes fucking time on other shit rather than explain to the layman why Sinestro is bad and why he defected.
>Because they fucking can and presumably they're toying with doing a prequel series that'll involve the two of them.
A series that may never exist, much like season two. So again, your wishful thinking, and confirmation she adds nothing to the show
>That was just Zoey who operates like that. Back when they were more numerous they didn't need to use subversion and infiltration tactics. They're muder-bots.
Funny how you ignore the fact that Ataan flat out says this is their go-to strat, referencing all Manhunters even before the purge.

You're a goddamn idiot. I swear its a wide psychosis with defenders.
>>
>>155666450
NTA and I haven’t even watched the show because it looks like a gross overcorrection from the movie to the point it’s not really Green Lantern anymore but the other anon’s complaints sound like nitpicks where they were actively looking for things to bitch about so they could defend not liking it because apparently you can’t just like or not like something you’ve gotta provide a ten page dissertation on its merits/lack of merit
>>
>>155666450
nta but you are a faggotron
>>
>>155666512
>sound like nitpicks
None of those are nitpicks. A nitpick is "why don't Lanterns glow green when flying". This shit listed is basic questions anyone with a brain should be asking
>>
>>155666482
>That doesn't explain why Hal went to prison. That's really easy to clear up with the goddamn satellites, which several were on the ground.
The entire town probably testified against him.
>That happened YEARS prior and doesn't answer the question at all.
And it was probably something he set up when he got the ring. He had a gut feeling and probably put that into the hal-o-gram when he backed his consciousness up for the first time.
>They called him an "oath breaker" for merely talking to Sinestro, which is stupid.
They imply he did a lot more than that. It's likely to call back to Guy talking about "his oath" in Superman that everyone just thought he was using an excuse to not do shit.
>That's purely your headcanon
No, it's a theory.
> There's no evidence to suggest the corp hates him.
There's none that suggest the Corps loves him either. Guy no doubt would've informed the Guardians and word would've circulated through the Corps yet still none showed up.
>Also you keep saying he's a prick, yet consistently does the right thing and is charismatic to people
To random people, yes. To those he's acquainted to he behaves very differently. And doing the right thing doesn't negate someone being an asshole.
>So he's basically worthless and the show wastes fucking time on other shit rather than explain to the layman why Sinestro is bad and why he defected.
It doesn't need to because Sinestro is not the focus of the show. But if we are going to get one, it's probably gonna be in the next episode since a chunk of the finale is probably gonna be with Sinestro.
>Funny how you ignore the fact that Ataan flat out says this is their go-to strat, referencing all Manhunters even before the purge.
Then I must've misunderstood that conversation as I interpreted that as him talking specifically about her given that they were an item.
>>
>>155663693
>Why did Hal go to prison at all for something the Manhunter did?
Because his recklessness and personal involvement got tons of innocents killed
>Why did Hal plant a message to his Hal o Gram to tell him to go to Nebraska in the first place?
Because he always felt Abin Sur’s death was suspicious. Pay attention to the show you’re watching.
>Why do they keep calling Hal an "oath breaker"?
Because he broke his oath.
>Why did Hal bother announcing to the world his identity back in the 80s anyway?
Who knows, who cares. It’s not important.
>Why does Hal act like he's not friends with other GLC members yet keeps referencing guys like Ch'p and Mogo attending his funeral?
Because he changed after Sinestro betrayed the corps, you fucking idiot. The eulogy was clearly written when Hal wasn’t a massive asshole who kept everyone at a distance.
>Why does the show just expect non comic readers to understand why Sinestro defected?
Oh for fucks sake, the show establishes he betrayed the corps and is sitting in jail. The exact details aren’t important to the storyline.
>What was the point of throwing Carol Ferris in this series if they're not going to reference their past love and treat the OC doughnut cop like the more important character?
Hal is allowed to have other love interests and again, stupid fuck, Carol existing as an ex further highlights how isolated Hal became in the past decade after Sinestro’s betrayal
>Why are Manhunters in this show inconsistent in terms of peacekeeping function? They're first presented as predecessors of the GLC, yet their strategy is to seduce the alpha of every society and use fear gas to kill opposition???
Manhunters are always set up as peacekeepers who run amok. In the show they just work more like infiltrators who use manipulation and influence to gain control of societies and then kill entire planets when they go the usual route of going too far with what they perceive to be following their mandate to keep peace.

The problem with Hal is he's a bit of an asshole but he's not a flamboyant asshole like Guy is.
They already have Guy for the over the top narcissist asshole in the DC movieverse and John for the multicultural 2 faced asshole who pretends to be nice angle.
Hal has no place because they've already used his archetype up as a Lantern.
